Hello. I'm 30 year old mother and I'm really worried about my little son who is only 7 years old.
You see, about a month ago I have first time noticed that his upper lip is sometimes swelling. I have never managed to determine the right cause but I thought it will resolve by it self. Sometimes it happen after a meal and sometimes during night- so there is really no rule.
But it didn’t. During this last month I have noticed this swelling several more times and I've got worried.
Is there something wrong with him I should know about that can be causing this? Should I consider taking him to see a specialist?

Hello. I've just read your post and it has made me thinking about the possible reason of this lip swelling. I really doubt it could be from some injury and I'm sure it is probably some allergy reaction.
I don’t know a lot about this but I have read that the sudden swelling of a lip that hasn't been injured is usually caused by an allergic reaction to something that has gotten on the lip.
There are several things that could cause your son this allergic reaction such as food, toothpaste or lip balm. If the tooth paste is the cause that would definitely explain swelling in the night just after fresh tooth brushing in the evening. When this occurs-apply ice to the swelling for 20 minutes out of every hour. Consider taking him to a GP and doing some allergy test to determine the exact cause.
