My husband and I have sex pretty frequently, but it has been causing me soreness over the past few months. He shaves and when the hair starts to grow back, it hurts me. Last night, after sex, I started getting really swollen and sore on the inside and outside of my labia and it's freaking me out. Is this common? What should I do?
I'm not entirely sure if the swelling is caused by your husband's hair growing back.
If the sex was a bit rough or you did not have enough lubrication, the inner lips can swell. They may feel like they're bruised and you will want to walk like a duck. It's uncomfortable indeed.
If this is what's bothering you - taking a warm bath can help greatly. Pressing a very warm, or very cold cloth against them can also bring relief. Ice packs, warm coffee/tea cups etc.. can also bring relief.
I find that wearing panties or tight pants makes the swelling stay longer and cause me more discomfort. So i advise to not wear panties, and to wear baggy pajama/sweat pants, or a housecoat.
