So..  Let me start off by saying this is very uncomfortable and stressful.

years ago I had a Bartholins cyst.  I went thru a process with that.

what I have now started 3 wks ago with a small red spot on the left side of my clitoral hood. No burning when I urinated. Just a little sensitive.  I went to my ob she said it looked like irritation.  I insisted on checking for herpes because I was nervous and wanted to make sure it wasnt that. ( been with my bf for 4 yrs) she told me to use Neosporin.

Wk 2 results were in Negative for Herpes, yeast, and other Stds. I started having itching so she told me to use Cortisone cream.  No more irritation, so I didnt use the Cortisone just Neosporin.  Well wk 3 came along and man was my clitoris on fire! No burning when I pee'd, severe itchiness and swollen clitoris.  Called ob was checked.  She said the red spot looked like a cyst, she tried to pop it, nothing came out.  I was given an antibiotic Keflex.  If the antibiotic doesnt work biopsy is next step.  I have been doing sits baths 2xs a day and ice packs.  Wtf is going on?  I cant take it anymore!  Any one??

I tried this one and then my infection was wronger, because if it goes inside the vagina the natural florea will getting a little yellow. If you use this tip, make sure you only put it on the exterior like lips and clitoris but not nears the glands at the start of the hole). And last time i begun to get those symptoms i had chlamydia. you may verify. sorry for my english i'm use to speak french.

Get checked for diabetes. I am shocked how many women have this and go to their Drs and they have no answers. When you search the symptoms the diabetes will come up not as an ad but an answer. Tell your MD to research it. Have your blood sugar checked and check for ketones in your urine. Good luck.

Hi Ladies, I started following this post last night as I have also been experiencing the described symptoms for two days, and I am finding my situation worsening by the moment. It started two days ago when I found one side of my clitoris inflamed and painful when touched (a few hours after masturbation, I'm still not sure if this is the cause since I am very careful with sanitation). This has never happened before, so I thought that it would be one of those problems that just come and go, so didn't pay much attention to it. I had sex with my boyfriend the day after, and was not disturbed whatsoever by the inflamed clitoris (he is my first and only partner, I am currently also his only partner. He has had a history of two partners, and is healthy, clean of any genital diseases. We have been together for more than a year now, and have had a sexual relationship for a year) Considering that we have not had sex in two weeks before my clitoris became inflamed, I don't think that it has anything to do with the sex. The following night I found that both sides of the clitoris was inflamed, red, also throbbing with pain even when left alone ( I guess that's because of the pus inside?) After washing with water, I went to bed, and woke up 4 hours later to severe pain. That's when I went to my parents for help and asked to go to the ER (I'm 17). After waiting for 12 hours in the ER, the gynecologist examined my inflamed parts and told me that its just a pimple, and it just happened to have grown in a very sensitive place. I actually cried when he squeezed the parts with the slightest touch, I really know how everyone with this problem feels. He gave me prescriptions to ease the pain, and also an anti-inflammatory drug, which I have both taken shortly before I came here to share my post. My mom also helped me apply a cream that will decrease the inflammation. I am currently waiting for my bag of ice, which I will wrap up in a towel to put on the inflamed areas (to help ease the pain and swelling. )I almost forgot to mention, the inflamed areas spread and increase by mass simultaneously. Both my clitoris and left labia are inflamed now, I will come back with results as to whether or not the prescriptions from my doctor works.

Good luck everyone, I wish we will all get better soon.

BTW, the prescribed meds are APO-CEPHALEX 250MG (for pain) and NAPROXEN 375MG (anti-inflammatory drug), the cream is use is from China, COMPOUND MICONAZOLE NITRATE CREAM. hope this helps:)

I have read all the posts, very helpful.  Especially the one who talked about diet.  I have the burning and itching too!  I have a lot of food in tolerances, particularly wheat, msg, and lately dairy.  Something irritated my stomach as I had diarrhea for a few days and now this.  I bought some cream for yeast infections and am taking probiotics to see if that will help.  I may sacrifice myself and have some yogurt just to see if it helps.  The paleo diet really helps me with a lot of these problems but the food sensitivities have worsened:(

I have also been dealing with this for a couple of months, two exams by the gyn, checked for yeast and other STDs--negative.  I am over 40 and have been diagnosed with a varicose vein between the labia on the left side that runs close to my clitoris that could contribute.  I have been applying Orajel & off brands to get temporary relief from my pants from rubbing, although I really want a permanent solution.  I am looking into going back to my old gyn for a second opinion.

Hi again Ladies:  I posted earlier about this problem and I think I have a solution(for me at least).  Summertime my husband and I tend to drink a bit more than usual and we love margaritas(since going to Mexico).  We have been having one or two;) pretty well every night for the past couple of weeks, since he's been on vacation.  Since laying off the drinks it has improved so I think it may hav something to do with the acidity in the limes.  We used real lime juice instead of a bar mix as I have trouble with sugar.  I don't know if it will help any of you but being careful with anything acidic could help.

After a few Margaritas it may be the salt on his mouth/lips scratching your vulva, then the lime gets into the scratches.

Back in June, I had sex with a woman and right afterward, my vagina got red and irritated. I had problems with yeast after sex before so my primary care physician gave me fluconazole. Well,  I had a burning near the urethra and was peeing weird so i went back to the doctor. She tested me for STD's and UTI. She started me on Nitrofurantoin for bladder infection. All me test results came back negative. Three weeks after sex, my clitoris became very tingly to the point of orgasm. I chalked it up to the fact that I hadn't had sex in over a year and I stirred things up. I masturbated pretty heavily and it would not relieve that sensations. The tingly feeling settled down but it hurt when I sit. I sit all day at work :( Over a week ago, my clitoris got tingly again and I masturbated but very lightly. Two days later my clitoris has been hard and very painful. I fear that I did nerve damage. I went to the gynecologist and she said the nerves are irritated and they take a long time to heal. She gave me Lidocaine and Orajel which are not doing anything. I'm in pain. I think it's tragic that so many women are suffering like this. The clitoris has 8,000 nerves as opposed to 4,000 in the penis, yet the doctors even female ones, no more about penises than clitoris's.

I may not have the answer for all of you but I found out what is causing my pain and discomfort.  I usually use Tide free/sensitive laundry detergent because my son had a rash as a baby from any of the other detergents.  When I went shopping about three weeks ago, They had none so I bought regular Tide.  Not only was I sore in my privates but I started to get a rash all over my stomach.  Problem is now solved and I have a lot of laundry to do:)

SO glad to find out I'm not the only one with this problem!!

Here's the story: Last week I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and given Amoxicillan to clear it up. It cleared up the sinus infection alright, so I was feeling pretty awesome...so the boyfriend and I got a little frisky. We don't have sex but he umm utilized his tongue and teeth pretty well (AWKWARD, I KNOW!!) so I was super sore and kind of puffy the next day. Along with taking the pills for the sinus infection and apparently overtaxing my clit/hood/labia area with oral...needless to say...I thought it would be sore for a day and then clear up like normal. Well the next day it got worse...didn't itch inside my vagina, but itched ALL around it, clit itched like crazy, got puffy, etc. I thought it was a yeast infection because I had interesting discharge but it wasn't icky smelling...just kind of clumpy but not like cottage cheese. Took Monostat 1 in the one dose form right before bed last night and woke up to it being even worse. I was so uncomfortable that I was literally jumping around my house trying not to itch it and somehow made it through work today with only scratching it a bit. I used their "itching cream" from Monostat, but it only seems to make it worse. It got worse in the afternoon after I ate lunch so I'm trying to figure out if it's diet related??

Should I see a gyno??? I'm kind of worried because I don't want it to start bleeding from the itching or something!!!! AH! If anyone knows of anything to help (I don't have a bathtub to take the baths that everyone seems to swear by...super jealous!), please let me know by replying!!!

I can't believe she didn't give you anything to take and just told you to put I've packs and take ibuprofen. She should be fired. I hate that they see the problems we are having and still don't prescribe anything. The one I went to didn't give me anything at all for the pain and she also told me it was irritated. Its as if I never actually went to see a doctor but they did take my money and it was a waste of time. I've been taking different things on my own because I just get frustrated with these doctors who just don't gwet it and don't seem to care.

I have the same problem, swollen site labia and peeling of the skin, my dr diagnosed it as Strvens-Johnson syndrome, a rare and very dangerous allergic reaction to the sulfa drug Bactrin. Try zinc oxide cream to soothe skin, and she recommends filling a bath to sit in to use the bathroom, as the urine is extremely painful to pass over broken skin. She prescribed a steroid and took me off the antibiotics, also gave me Benadryl. Keep going back to the doctor because I had to go 5 times to get help. Don't try to wait it out because it will get worse.
