I took my son to the doctor on Tuesday because his glands were so big and it hurts him when he moves his neck, the doctor has given him some antibiotics, but they are not realy working yet and he has a temp and a runny nose, any advice please, he is nearly six years old

What was the diagnosis?
The antibiotics should be working after 3-4 days and there should be some improvement.
Is he keeping hydrated? How high is the fever? How is he acting?
The doctor said it was proberbly a virus but because his glands were so big that's why he gave him antibiotics, he is drinking and eating small amounts and his temp was 39.5 at 5:30 this morning
