I frequently get boils mostly in groin area. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. My lymph nodes become swollen in neck and groin area regularly and occassionally in armpits. I have taken methrotrexate and remicaid for the past year. I have had the diseases for 25 yrs. I am 41. I also take anti inflamitories and prednisone daily. Are these symptoms related and if so how?

Hi Georgia,

If you are suffering from psoriasis there is a good chance that this is causing your boils and swollen lymph nodes. Psoriasis is known to weaken the protective barrier of the skin so it’s not uncommon that the infections are more prone to go through your skin. Boils are usually small infections under the skin. And lymph nodes do get swollen when there is an infection in the body.

You said that you have this for 25 years now. Have you ever changed your therapy? How often do you go for checkups? Where do you have psoriasis exactly? If it is on your head that even might affect lymph nodes more.  Do you experience pain when lymph nodes are swollen?
