I'm a 16 year old male and today I woke up with puffy eyelid on my right eye. My left eye seems fine but the right eye the upper eye lid looks larger.
I have no irritations or pain it just feels larger and bigger and harder to open my eyes. I don't feel any pain and it isn't any redder. My eye look fine as well it just looks like the eyelid got 2 times bigger.
I'm recovering from a cold; does that make a difference. I want to know the reason why I have this inflamed eyelid.
Additionally the night before I put some pimple cream on my nose near my eyes might this affect or cause this?
Thanks in advance and I appreciate any suggestions or ideas any of you can come up with.
Regards,
Benjamin

I am 32 years old. I have been experiencing issues on face for a while. I couldn't put just anything on my face without having some kind of mild reaction such as burning, itching and then peeling. Two months ago, I thought I used my make brushes that I had not cleaned. A few hours later, my face was itching really bad. By the week-end, my eye lids and cheeks were bright red, swollen and itchy. I peeled and peeled for days. The problem seemed to go away. I went to a dermatologist to get a patch test on my back to see if any chemicals that touch the skin could be creating this allergy. The result was that I had mild reactions to 7 chemicals. I came home and got rid off all lotions, make up, shampoos etc.. I had only one day of clear skin. I was happy. A few weeks later the problem got worse. My left eye was a tiny bit swollen and red. I washed my face with no chemicals. When I woke up my left eye was so swollen it had rolls of skin hanging of the eye lid. My right eye seemed normal. My right cheek was red. The problem is been non stop now. Just when I get a "relief" of a day of having my eyes and skin back to a bit of normal, I get all red again, it starts to itch, burn, swell and then it peels off for days. My eyes look so wrinkled and old. (mostly my left eye)
I went to an allergiest. He did two sets of tests. He sent me for blood work to check my thyroid, Lopus and other stuff. The only thing that came mildly positive was to dust and roaches. I have been washing my make up brushes, changed all of the cosmetics I used to 100% organic stuff. He even tested the ingredients on those items and they came back negative.
My lab work came back with my thyroid level being way to high. It was 11.90% and the doctor told me it should be .40 or .50. It is also creating antibodies. He highly suspects it's the thyroid. He urged me to go to my primary doctor which he put me on medicine right away. I started taking the syntroid since Friday morning, so almost a week now. My left eye is a bit swollen right on the lid, it's red and wrinkly. My right cheek is red only in a few spots. When I get the "flares" the are usually on the same spots each and every time.
Does any one have any ideas of what else I can do? Please? I'm driving myself crazy looking at my face.... speciallly my eyes. I am so worried about how the skin gets so dry and so strechy to the point it starts to hurt to look up or down or even smile.
Thank you!!!

My eyes are back to normal now. I started drinking lots of cranberry juice and that might be the solution. I'm not 100% sure. I'm still drinking it everyday and am not using any make up. I want my skin to heal before I even attempt to put make up on.
Last Tuesday morning (June 7) I woke up with my eyes very red and very swollen. It was probably the worse day yet. I went to the dermatologist and she took two biopsies on my chin. I won't know the results for another week. She wanted to rule out Lupus. She gave me an ointment called Protopic .03%. I am not sure if that is also another reason why my eyes started to clear up.
I feel for anyone who also has this same issue. It is so annoying to keep on waking up with swollen, red and itchy eyes. I am scared it will come back. My eyes are still itchy. My cheeks still get a bit red and peel off.
My only suggestion is that your eyes peel off ... DO NOT pick at the dry skin. Let it fall off on its own. I think I made it worse when I was taking the dry skin off. Also, try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice. If I know more as to what helped my eyes after the two month nighmare, I will post.
