Hey I'm thirteen years old nearly 14 in a under a month and I am a girl. My eyelid is swollen, but my eye isn't itchy or red. I need help to clear it because I cannot miss another day of school (I hate catching up and it's already bad I'm missing my friends last day till she moves to a new country). I know that I have made some mistakes that may have made this worse but I need help.

Yesterday my eye lid was only a bit swollen so I didn't tell my mum and went to school. After school, I went on the internet and tried to look for cures. I looked and saw that it could be...

1.) Too much salty food and not enough water; so I drank more water and kept a drink bottle near my bed last night
2.) Lack of sleep; I thought it might be that because the last two nights I stayed up to finish a book. So I went to bed early.
3.) Allergies; I crossed off that option because I am very cautious of my allergies and have not had or done anything to provoke them. I have already had conjunctivitis and so I knew it wasn't that because my eyes were not itchy.
4.) Too much make-up; I don't wear make-up.

To help my dilemma, I put a cold wash cloth over my eyes, I tried sleeping on my back in a more upright position, I drank heaps of water and went to bed early.

The next morning I woke up early to go to my basketball training. My eye had become worse. I went downstairs and showed my mum my eye. She told me it might be a sty and asked if it bothered me. I said yes so she said I would stay home and to go back to sleep since it was six in the morning. I went to bed drank more water and abandoned the washcloth. The swelling went down a bit after my longer rest.

I then searched up sty's. It told me I might have a pimple-ish thing on my eye. I did not have a pimple on my eye it was is swollen. So now I'm trying a warm wash cloth, it's still not working and I am totally confused on how to cure it.

So yeah... I guess this is sort of a not what to do if you get a swollen eyelid.

Hi everyone! I've been reading some of your comments. And my mom has a similar problem. Although, I search and it's not sty or pink eye or an ingrown eyelash. Her eye is very swollen! It's like how Will Smith's eye got in Hitch! Not kidding! Even though, this is her 4th time getting this reaction. It usually just goes away in a day. But now the swelling is up to her eyebrow and she can barely open her left eye. Her eye isn't red. And she hasn't had any food allergies in the past. She says she feels her self scratching her eyelid during the night. She even trys not scratching it but it still gets swollen. I don't think it a bug bite or anything like that because its always on the same eyelid. I think it's because she wears contacts during the night but I'm not sure.

*Please help!* :)

I have upper eyelid swelling with no pain or other symptoms . It started in one eye and now the other is affected. I have seen 2 opthamologists and they don't know what is this fluid buildup! They said it wasn't because of age. I must find out the cause! I don't eat any dairy products.

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is well.  I had the same problem last year.  My eyes started to swell up and then would get very dry, would peel all around the eye and it would happen over and over again.  I went to many doctors, I had a lot of tests done and no answers.

I finally got tired of spending $ for nothing.  The problem was not going away but it kept getting much worse.

I did my own research and healed myself naturally.  It took time, self discipline and patience.

I found out that the reason why my eye lids were so swollen, red, dry and would peel was because the pituary glad on the back of the neck was releasing toxins through the eyes.

You can heal yourself naturally.  Ask yourself these questions:

How many stool movements do you have in a day? if you are chronically constipated, you need to address this problem asap! and not with laxatives or medicines.  You can do it naturally by having more alkaline in your body.  More vegetables and fruits.

How many fruits and vegetables do you eat in one day? if the answer is hardly none then start eating a lot of vegetables and fruits with salads or juices.

How much water do you drink in a day? if hardly any then start drinking alot.

Try drinking some cranberry juice .. in a few days you will see the improvement.

If any of you would like to see my before and after pictures, I will be more than happy to do that.  You can just reply to this post.

Hope all can find your answers.

The body can heal itself with the proper care ..no medicines!

Hello! I had a flu since last week, runny nose and coughing, no big deal, but 4 days ago the area arround my eye started to hurt, a lot, i got myself some mesulid to ease the pain, i slept and the next day (the pain was gone) i had fever, and my eyelid started to swell... The eyeball seems pretty good (all white), i don't have puss or "eye gum" but a swelling eyelid (no pain either)... the day passed, and the next day the swelling went even worse (still clean eyeball, no puss and no pain)... i started using cold team bags on my eye (chamomile to be exact)! i saw big difference, the swelling was getting off! Now the swelling is almost gone (not entirily) but the problem is that i cannot open my eyelid! It's like it's paralyzed or something, it opens to a point (like you are peeking from your eyelids) but no more... I'm really worried about not being able to open my eyelid, any ideas what is happening or what should i do?

I'm in my early 20's and I've had this swollen eyelid after I got sick (flu, cough) which led me to think that it was caused by bacterial infection. Initially it was a minor swell, but it got worse after 2 days. I've had this problem before so I used the same medication to treat this one and it didn't work out as well as before. So, I searched for home remedies, tried a couple of them but I found this remedy particularly helpful:

Dip a tea bag in warm water (I used chamomile tea bag which is better to calm the swelling) and placed it on my eyes for about 10 minutes. Repeat this every 3 hours or so. It's the end of my first day now, and it's not as swollen as before so hopefully it works out.

I have the same problem on occasion. I take Benedryl allergy gelcaps and triamcinolone cream, and keep vaseline on my eyes at night. That helps with the swelling and itching. ,

haha very funny. You must be an ophthalmologist. For everyone else, optometrists are just as qualified to diagnose your eyelid issues. They won't be looking for a reason to cut into you, though. If you really want the blade, you might want to avoid the optometrist, who will first do no harm...the pansy. Oh, kids these days
