Hi My first pregnancy resulted in a dislocated tailbone and after 8 months of agonizing pain, swollen sacrum, and humming sensations in my feet, i finally got a diagnosis and steroid injections into the first joint of the coccyx. I was much better, so we decided to try for baby #2. My son is 19 months old and i am five weeks pregnant. The last three nights have been terrible with the pain. I finally got a little sleep last night by wrapping frozen mixed veggies in a scrub top and placing it over my sacrum. The pain burns. I never thought the pain would be so intense so early and i am very scared for what the remainder of pregnancy holds. I can't lay flat on my back. Now i wish i would have had my tailbone removed b4 we tried again. If it keeps getting worse i will not be able to work.

Ok i went to physical therapy today for this very reason. I am 16 weeks along and its my first child. It IS a bone rubbing on your tailbone. Your body releases a hormone that loosens your ligaments and this helps your body prepare your pelvic are widen for delivery this happens at any given time during the pregnancy so the bigger ur baby gets the more moving around your hips are going to do. First, get a small aerobic ball...and squeeze it in between your knees (while lying down on you back or lay on your good side), Or if you have a friend or you partner there have them put one hand on one knee and keep your knees apart by using their elbow...squeeze 3x for about 10 sec each. Then have them hug your knees together as you try to seperate your knees...3x for 10 sec. the ICE ICE ICE for about 10-12 mins. Lay on you good side on top of a sheet with the sheet laying the opposite way of you (have lots of excess towards the back) put ice on your back/butt and wrap the sheet around you and tuck under you in the front....this helped ALLOT I was limping around and now i can at least walk normal I feel about 90% better. Also 30x 3x's a day Cat to cow pose and focus on your pelvic region....lather rinse and repeat! hope this helps!!!

I am having the same problem. I go to a chiropractor and it really helps. It's still sore but not nearly as bad. Sitting on an exercise ball helps as well as doing the pelvic tilt.

I am only 9 weeks and I've been having tailbone pain for a few weeks now. It seems to be getting worse on a daily basis. It hurts to change positions of any nature. Laying to sitting, rolling over, shifting my weight while sitting, and sitting to standing. Also bending over. It feels like my bone right above my buttcrack just gets pinched real hard. I noticed it first when I had been sitting in the floor all day packing stuff to move. So I figured I just pulled something, but now I'm beginning to think it is definitely related to my pregnancy... I'm moving from Ohio to Florida this week and I'm dreading sitting in the car for 26 hours!! Any advise on what to do in the car while sitting?!?

I am 34 and 23 weeks pregnant and am also sufffering from tailbone pain. It began approx. 2 weeks ago. As I read through the suggestions and came across sitting on an excercise ball, I immediately grabbed one to give it a go - I'm already feeling relief!!!

I am going to try the excercises that someone mentioned by squeezing the ball between my knees and I'll keep you posted.

It sounds like everyone is having similar pains, so I am not too worried just hope they subside.

I am I my second pregnancy and im 15 weeks. I have fractured my tailbone last May but ur was only a hair line fracture. My doctor told me in August it was healed. The last couple days it hurts to sit down and sit on my side. I just woke up this morning and its swollen and there is a bump on the left hand side like a bone is sticking out towards my butt crack. I'm scared and don't know what to do. And i just found out i have fibroid tumor.

I'm 23 years old, and pregnant for 16 weeks. I feel pressure in the rectum. Is that normal for a pregnant woman?
