Good day everyone. Today my cousin called me and I almost lost my mind. To cut long story short, she told me that she is diagnosed with some heart issue. I don’t have idea what it is, she told me but I was really stressed because of this information. She had mitral valve repair and she told me that she is feeling fine.

I don’t know should I trust her since she hasn't called to tell me that she is sick.

She is taking cordarone after this and I can remember that I was reading somewhere that this is not a very good option. What do you think about taking cordarone after mitral valve repair?

Here is my experience. I was given cordarone after mitral valve replacement. The surgery generally went great, but because of some small heart irregularity in the hospital they gave me therapy. I don’t know what to tell you, but I am pretty sure that cordarone was the main reason why I was feeling really bad from the beginning. I had a lot of side – effects. For example, my skin was very itchy and I had trouble sleeping for a couple of days. After that I went home and I continued to use this therapy. I had this rash again. I don’t like it.

Hello everyone. The Big Z, I am very sorry to hear this and I am sorry because you don’t have enough information about her condition to share it with us. I really hope that she is going to be ok. I know a lot of people who had mitral valve repair and they are doing fine at this moment.

Guest, I am really sorry to hear about those side – effects that you had but I know one lady who was very satisfied with cordarone.

I can’t remember which therapy she was given before it but when they switched her to coradarone she was way better.

I think that you need to try certain therapy to see how your body is going to react on it.

Hey everyone,

Well, almost all medications have side effects, Big Z, some people experience these side effects, and some people don't. Different medications work differently on different people.

Cordarone is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat. There are some medical conditions which may interact with cordarone, and your cousin needs to tell her doctor if she has any of them. I'm not sure exactly which conditions colide with cordarone, but I'm sure someone else will know. I wish your cousin the best of luck.

Hi everyone,

I honestly think that there is nothing wrong with using cordarone, it is a pretty good medication.

About the conditions which interact with cordarone, I can tell you about them. These would include:

- pregnancy or planning to get pregnant

- taking any other medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

- if you have abnormal liver function tests or a history of liver problems; lung or breathing problems; other heart problems

- if you have recently had severe or persistent diarrhea

- if you will be having surgery or receiving anesthesia, or if you have an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator.

Hey everyone,

Health n Joy is right, if you have any of the conditions that she wrote, you need to talk to your doctor because then he probably won't let you use cordarone, it wouldn't be safe. Also, if you are using cordarone, you shouldn't eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. Grapefruit can increase the amount of this medication in your bloodstream.

Already known side effects of cordarone are abnormal taste or smell, constipation, decreased sexual interest, dizziness, dry eyes, flushing of the face, general body discomfort, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, tiredness, trouble sleeping, vomiting. But like Stradivarius wrote, some people have side effects and some don't.

Hey there.

I am pretty sure that doctor won’t prescribe her cordarone. He won’t even let her to use it as well. I know some people who were using it and neither one of them is satisfied. Cordarone is used for totally different problems than this you have described :/ I am pretty sure that so far she consulted someone and that doctor already told her that this is not good for her. There are so many good medications for this condition that you told that she has.

But cordarone is not one of them. Bye.
