Have you considered banding?
It isn't to bad. So far i've had 2 lots done the first time i had 3 Hems done when i had my colonoscopy and the 2 time i had only 1 done. Both times i needed to take pain meds (a little bit stronger than panadol) and sit in a HOT bath till the pain went which was about 4 hrs or so I can't recommend the bath enough. After a couple of days of some bleeding and tentative BM's everything went back to normal just DON"T push. That was 6mths ago, but i need to go back to get another banding done. That will have to wait till after christmas. If you can get the THD/DG-HAL go for it, as what i can work out it's is only a minor surgery compared to the PPH surgery which i would only consider as a last resort. Too much butchering for me.

I actually don't want to ponder it having it get worse before it gets better. It sucks to live with now..
and I don't have complete prolapses.. I just can't see it getting better only stablizing.

Like I said I did more fiber but without more water.. And I also enjoyed Sunflower seeds which I think nearly
killed me.. Now I am on lots of water a good balance of fiber...No alchohol and actually no red meat too..
It's gotten a little better but it's still something I don't want to live with forever if I don't have to..
The THD looks like it can be performed on stage 2's but I am not really shure..
I really need to speak with a doctor that performs them..

The doctor your are refering to is that your GP or your colorectal surgeon? Because if this is your GP saying don't worry about it he knows didly squat. My GP didn't even know what other proceedures were available. So the best thing to do is go see a colorectal surgeon and see what he/she says. Is best thing i think i've done so far is becoming a Vegan it's helped quite a lot over the last couple of months and it had made me lose weight a well as a bonus. Have you tried some suppositories (eg : protocedal) this helps with the internal ones.
I'm also thinking of getting some acupuncture to try and restrict the blood flow to that area. I think with the THD surgery this can benefical even for stage 2 beacuse the longer you leave the worse it will get. The creams and so on are only a stop gap measure NOT a cure. Have a look at this site and read up on some of the case studdies done.

The doctor is a Colorectal surgeon. I sometimes think the suppositories make it worse because it tends to leave everything loose and it seems to move around and fall easier. The same with all the creams. When it is dryer up there its not so bad.. Except when walking for exercise.. then dry is irritating. I'm just sick of the gas, bloating and associated pinching pain.. It's like I can't be in Public anymore or enjoy any activities. I do take alot of baths especially after I get home from work after sitting all day..

Hi, I have read all of the posts in this thread and I am glad to hear about this alternative treatment for hemorrhoids. I have been suffering for a year and a half now and can't take it any longer. I am at the point where i am unable to stand for more than 10 min. I am definitely going to find a dr. in my area that does this procedure. I was wondering if someone who had it done could tell me about how many days were you laid up after the surgery? I also have an anal fissure and hope that I can still have this procedure done. I don't know if it would help that condition or not. Right now I would just be happy getting rid of the hems. Any more information would be appreciated, I am scared of having the surgery, but I am also tired of being an invalid. I live in the NY area if anyone has a recommendation. Thanks in advance. E
This procedure only fixes internal hem's and you'll only be laid up for about 2 -3 days.
I am new to this board, and I was interested to hear about the THD procedure. I live in the NYC area, and I would also like to hear about good and bad colon/rectal surgeons that anyone has used or heard about. I went for an opinon today with someone at Columbia Presbyterian, and he recommended the PPH. I am extremely scared about actual surgery, but my internal hems bleed with every bm and the doctors all say there is nothing they can do for me (after having had multiple bandings over the years) besides surgery. So I am interested in who in the NYC area does the THD procedure, and who in the NYC area was happy with their colon/rectal surgeon and/or who chose the PPH. I appreciate any and all info!!

THD or DG-HAL Dopler guided-Hemorroidal Artial Ligation is another name for it. It seems perfect for internal Hem's as far as i can tell (no available surgeon in Australia) have ytou seen the proceedusre done on videos? If not just google it or go to youtube and there should be a ble to see a video of it. This proceedue is so mild campared to PPH it's not funny. Down time is about 2-3 days as all they do is suture up the veins and then sew up the prolapse to the wall of the rectum the prolapse then dyrs out and stays there and that's it.
There is even a place in Canada which has had remarkable results using herbal teatments as well with over 90% Success rate.
Another on is Ultroid (google it) Treatment which uses Electrodes on the hem's as far as i'm concerned PPH shouold be the last result as if these proceedures don't work (but i'd doubt that) you can still get the PPH done later.

Well i've finally been able to track down the distribitor ofthe THD in Australia and they are going to send me the names and contact details of the surgeons that use this piece of equpiment in Brisbane. WOO HOO that means i'll finally be able to get rid of these bloody things.

Why not send an E-mail to the THD America and see if they can help. That is what i did and they were more than happy to help out.
