Did a Krav Maga session and got struck in the neck. Since then I have similar symtoms. Pain on the one side. Loose throat and popping sound. Painfull to swallow.... Definitly related to neck trauma! Any answers?
Yo. I just went to an ENT doctor today for my allergies and ear drainage. I also asked about this "clicking" that you're talking about. He said it was completely normal. Nothing to worry about.

I have the same thing except when I yawn something gets caught and then it feels like a Charlie horse in that area. Pretty scary.

Hey I know you posted a year ago but I've been having this exact problem for over 3 weeks now and it's really getting on my nerves. I have pain where my larynx is at the top of my trachea and I can click and move the cartilage there really easily. Did you get a diagnosis? If not has it improved?
This started happening to me today. I'm only 14. Someone tried to strangle me and then after 4 mins this started happening.
To whom it may concern, i have felt the same clicks and discomfort for about 5 months now. I went to the doc and he said nothing appears to be wrong with me. After that visit i started thinking about what i was doing that could be effecting it. I started eating a lot more fruit and veggies, sleeping on my back with no pillow, doing neck stretches and i started running(which pumps your lymph nodes and cleans them out) I only do about a mile a day and i have noticed a difference. the clicks (when they happen) are much less noticeable. I hope it helps someone else.
It is your thyroid it us either hypo or hyper . Go to endo.

I had this very same discovery this evening myself. I am 48. The sheer number of replies here suggests it's entirely normal, and nothing to worry about. If I get more worried, I'll go to the doctor but for now, I'm reassured.
Barium swallow is a good test to check for issues of the throat however it does not show issues with regards to thyroid cartilage, hyoid bone or the styloid process which may causing the problems. You need a CT scan and ENT for this. Ask him if you are suffering from Eagles syndrome or if the scan shows something else or nothing. What you are describing can be a symptom . Your swallowing could be affected as you age due to this problem but you need to adjust the angle of your head to compensate for this swallowing problem. If you choose surgery it comes with risk. I have read in other threads sometimes surgery does not resolve the problems also.
Hi, you cannot assume by sheer number of replies that what you are experiencing is normal until you get it checked out. I had mine check by various ENT until I found a smart one. Many ENTs do not do major neck surgery. You need to find one that has experience in thyroid surgery with intimate knowledge of the styloid process.
Check with an ENT down to your throat with an endoscopy. I had an injury in sports due to strangulation and an ENT found a dislocation to the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage. I have a foreign body sensation since then. I have also found out that I have a stenosis at the carotid artery possibly due to an injury.
