I have been dealing with the same feelings for about 4 months now... It is very difficult to describe to a doctor! They all think I'm crazy. I've been to an ENT who treated me for sinus issues and tried to prescribe nasal sprays. I've had an MRI, chest xray, Pulmonary function test, Thyroid ultrasound (have 3 tiny nodules that the dr. said couldn't be related to my problem) and CT scan of sinuses - all came back normal. I was recently found to be H. Pylori positive, which I think could cause stomach acid issues. I'm going to start antibiotic treatment for that, so we'll see if it helps the throat eventually. It is a really annoying feeling, though, I don't think it is very harmful. Just want to breath normal again!! If anybody has ever had this condition diagnosed, please pass on the solution!

Thanks so much for your input. I've been having abdominal pains and went to the ER because the pains were getting more severe. After the Dr. evaluated me he came up with "too much acid intake". Everything he said that caused that made sense especially with my eating habits and lifestyle. So I'm watching for different symptoms and I guess this is one of them for reflux I'm changing my eating habits and am on medications but your input helped with my worries thanks!!

I'm so relieved to find that other people are having this problem and it isn't just me! I've had a constant cold/icy feeling in my throat for about 2 1/2 weeks now, and when I turn my head, the cold travels up to where I can feel it behind my back teeth. Its very irritating, but not painful. It feels like I had just drank a milkshake. I have acid reflux for years, but take medication for it on a regular basis. This is the first time I've ever experienced anything like this. Could it be anything other than reflux??? %-)
I'm having this COLD throat, It has been happening for about 3 weeks and now it is extremely irritated and feels about like strep throat.
My throat is cold at all times and when i breathe deeply it feels like i'm lodging ice in my throat. About a week ago I developed a cough to go along with it and now its even worse. I've yet to visit my doctor and my family thinks I'm crazy because of what I tell them it is, "Cold Throat".
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm having this cold throat problem as well.
I'm 15 years old, I don't smoke, drink, etc. I don't have allergies of any kind when I was last checked (2-3 years ago).
It has been 'cold' for probably 3 weeks
last week I developed a cough which made it worse, and now it feels even colder.
100% of the time, it is cold, when I breathe deeply it feels like I have ice lodged in my throat.
I first noticed it when I choked on some chocolate milk, but there was no reflux, just a coughing fit.
any help you could give would be much appreciated! thanks.

Hi there all readers. I have just had an oesophogectomy. This was to treat oesophogeal cancer. I am now getting this symptom of a really cold throat and it is certain to be from reflux of stomach acid. I am really pleased to see there are some remedies and will try the Chewing Gum idea. As has been said, it's not painful but just irritating and spoils the very small meals that I have to eat now. The op removed most of my stomach and oesophagus but I'm still going and looking forward to a more comfotable time now. Thanks for the info.
Hi,
I have been feeling the same cold sensations in my lower throat. I started getting them when i was pregnant with my daughter. I asked my OBGYN and she couldn't give me a answer. After she was born, they stopped. My daughter is 10 months old now, and i've started getting these sensation's again. I have the IUD, which is suppose to be 99% affective. Just to be on the safe side, i took two pregnancy test and they both came out negative. So i don't know why i am feeling this way again. I dont have any pain in my lower throat, it is just the cold sensation, so i dont think it could be acid reflux. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening? I'm glad im not the only one experiencing this.

I have ben having the same problem with my throat its really cold and doesnt hurt but its hard to describe the feeling of it, and when I try to explain it to people they don't have a clue what I'm on about. So I was wondering if anybody could help. Thanks :-)
I just got this same feeling a bit earlier tonight when i went to bed, its 3 am and i havent been able to sleep because my throat was cold with a little bit of pain, and i feel like im going to puke. Im 15, dont smoke but i had mints earlier today, and an almond joy(never had it before) so it might be one of those. Thank you so much for describing it because im the only one awake right now & dont want to bother my parents, so i googled cold throat. Hopefully it was just the mints or a reaction to the almond joy and itll go away soon :)
Same thing... have had it for about 2 weeks on and off but mostly on. worse at night. quit smoking but still persists.
I've had the dreaded "Cold throat" for about a month now and have just recently developed a cough to go with it. I'm pretty sure it's LPR after what I've read and I think it may have been caused by the vigorous exercising I've been doing for the last 6 weeks. According to my doctor that can cause acid to be pushed up the eosophagus and into the throat.
I'm gonna try the life-style changes kindly suggested by KC, and hopefully that'll sort me out. I'm guessing the throat's gonna stay the same way for a while since that area is sensitive and takes time to heal. I'm also taking Gaviscon for heartburn and charcoal tablets to clear my stomach of impurities. I hope it'll clear up soon (I've read on another forum that someone has had the "Cold Throat" for 2 years now o.O)
Anyways, good luck to everyone else! I'll keep checking back here to see how people are getting on and to post any changes :-)

I have the same cold feeling. It started about 2 weeks ago and has been there every day since. One thing I don't understand is that from what I've read acid reflux will often cause a heart burn feeling and sub sternal pain. I have no pain what so ever and it doesn't feel like it's burning at all. It just feels weird and cold. Does the feeling of acid reflux change amongst patients? I just don't understand how some people feel a burn and pain and all I feel is cold. I don't smoke and occasionally drink (once or twice a month) I don't eat spicy foods but I do occasionally eat onions. I had onions last night in fact.
Hi all,
I feel the same. Its quite irritating. I cnt sleep at night due to this. When I swallow at that time its ok. after that when I breath in its quite irritating.
Help me.

I never used to have any kind of reaction to milk/dairy products ( I don't eat any of the other above listed items) but within the last 6 months, the icy chill in my throat along with painful gas and bloating has started to make my life miserable!
