HELP!!! I've had the cold sensation, almost a burning feeling at the back of my throat for almost 2 months...can now feel it when breathing in through my nose as well...it's there 24/7...only time I have relief is while eating...i eat a very bland diet and can't connect this with anything other than the day it started I took a capsule multi vitamin that felt as though it was stuck...after a few hours it felt fine, but this cold feeling started.  I've seen an ENT, had chest xray, hpylori test, blood tests, etc.  Gastro dr has me booked for a gastroscopy, but not for almost three months !!! This has affected my life...drastically.  Literally going out of my mind. Anyone get any answers since these posts were put on here awhile ago.  Have to admit, I felt slightly relieved to know that others have experienced this...my doctors look at me like I'm crazy.

I'm 13 and have been having this problem, but I've also been eating a lot of grease so that you for clarifying, for me it helps if I drink a little water for those who are looking for something easy

Yes I've had that too, also called GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) I've been getting the same thing recently, a cold, menthol feeling that is constantly noticeable. The thing is is that I never eat gum or smoke menthol cigarettes, but then again I have just recovered from a mild flu and smoked a lot of normal cigarettes. I haven't felt any reflux, my first time could've been a bad case and this one almost unnoticeable but I'm sure if that was the case, I would have definitely had the same thing before. GERD was nasty, no one wants to end up with that!

Hey Mel - did you ever figure out what caused yours? I have had the same thing since about Jan 2015 and it's insane. Just went to the ER and they did a Cat Scan but nothing showed except inflammation/irritation. Tested for bacteria and nothing. Tested for strep - nothing. Did you have any other symptoms, like pressure across your thyroid or anything? This is causing me a lot of anxiety and now that I see all these posts, at least it will keep me from having an all out panic attack. Just hoping it isn't super serious. It truly is weird - it's like you have menthol up your nostrils 24/7 and your throat us frozen because of it.

Just reading through this thread with interest, and I, too, have a strange 'cold feeling' in my throat after drinking something cold. This feeling lingers and can come back a good 10-20 minutes after I've consumed the drink (too long for the liquid to still be cold in my oesophagus, surely?).

Sometimes it's almost as though I can feel the cold drink is trying to come back up into my mouth.

This has only started in the last few months. I have had acid reflux for several years, but this is a new feeling.

Anyone else only get this after drinking?

I get the feeling of where I breath in and it's like I have just had a mint in my throat. It goes away after a while. Just gets annoying after a while. I have had it for a few months now and I was confused if maybe I was getting sick or something. I have no pain from it ever just an annoying breeze like feeling in my throat. Should I be concerned about this at all?

How did yu know it was from smoking cigs? I get this feekihg' when I smoke heavy for a day. Lately it's been coming on even after 2 cig/. And it makes my throat feel so minty and menthol y when I breathe in . And I DON'T smoke menthol. Sometimes it gets so bad that I can no longer smoke my cig. I've been smoking consistently & pretty heavy since I was 16. I'm 21 now.

I think it does. I went cold turkey November 2013 and drank aloe Vera juice for about 2 weeks. Then one Sunday I woke up with this feeling and it fluctuates now and then but still happens.

So I'm 14 and this has been happening for about 3 days. I'm currently in Galveston and I live in Austin but I'm always in Galveston so it can't have anything to do with that. I had only happened at night these few times but it feels like I'm about to throw up however I'm not nauseous. I've had this feeling in the past after taking the smallest sip of my moms wine (which I am aloud to do after asking and still do a few times a month) but I've always assumed it was the alchohol considering that it passed within 2-5 mins. I haven't even taken a sip in the past 3 nights yet it's happening and lasting until sleep. I do however eat a lot of spice and chocolate but I always have so I don't even know what to think at this point.

Hi Mel! Could you tell me if the issue you had is already resolved? My dad has the exact (!) same complaints and we really don't know what to do.. We visited several doctors but no-one seems to know what it is.

Wow! Thanks for the info! This has really been bothering me for a long time because it happens once in a while when I wake up and I've been really worried about what happened when I was asleep to cause that feeling.
