Same issue, but I also get cold all over, following the coldness in my throat. I did just find out I have a goiter, so my 1st Dr's visit tomorrow may have some answers hopefully.

Hello, I been having the same thing for years, off and on. An now it been a week and my throat hurts when I breath in , a cold feeling, and painful

The doctor's answer is not helpful; simply a cut and paste job for paresthesia. I get the same thing. Coolness, sometimes also on my tongue and even lips. Almost the distribution of the glossopharyngeal nerve. Mine started while donating platelets. The anticoagulant caused the sensation and, for some reason, it has not, in the days hence, gone away! I believe the tingling is caused by a drop in the plasma calcium concentration (the anticoagulant is a calcium chelator), but I am not sure about this.

I had the same thing and tried EVERYTHING. Trust me I couldn't figure it out. I found out that it has to do with acid reflex and it has to do with PROBIOTICS. I literally went down to the health store GNC and got the most common pro biotic bills a month supply and two hours later the feeling has been gone. Also I took double the recommended dose but honestly it does have to do with health and eating. Make sure to drink lots of fluid and nothing spicy and don't eat 3 hours before bed. Try to eat bland foods and small amounts a lot of times rather then a lot only a few times. Good luck to you all. I hope this helps!

Hi, all. I have had the same issue for 4 weeks and have been to 4 doctors and have been researching non stop. Cold feeling at back of throat and occasional cold feeling in mouth that causes numbing spots to come and go. As soon as I think it's getting better, I have a bad day.
Two things I am convinced it is... acid reflux and candida. Regarding acid reflux... I went to an ear nose and throats doctor, against my better judgment. I thought there was no way this sensation could be caused by acid, but I wanted to rule it out. He did a scope of my throat and could see the acid. He started me on medicine, which could be a long term regimen. He also told me to do a nasal wash (could not believe what came out of my nose with this remedy)... I like the kit they sell at Walgreens. Just make sure you clean it properly after use.
Just a few short days after starting the acid reflux regimen, I saw something online about how candida (fungus) could cause a similar sensation. This immediately struck me. Over the years, I had athletes foot on and off that took almost 5 years to go away. During the start of the cold sensation, I got a seriously cracked lip at the corner, which is also a sign of fungus. My tongue is very slightly white, which can also be a sign of fungus. I immediately went back to the doc, and am now off of the acid reflux pill short term so I can take an anti fungal treatment.
When you read about candida online, you'll see a "spit test" that you can do at home. While it is not proven, after completing the test, I am convinced this is One of my issues.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Best luck to all of you to figure it out!

I posted the previous posting... just curious... can anyone reply if they've ever had a fungal issue? Want to see if my thoughts may be valid or anyone else can relate. Thanks!

Hi every one.

I'm 28yo and I live in Dallas, TX. I started having this sensation started 20 minutes ago. I immediately googled it because I've never felt something like this.
I've noticed that there are a lot of posts talking about a history of acid reflux (heartburn) and various posts saying this started when the were pregnant, and I'm pretty sure heartburn is common during pregnancy.

As for my case, it's worth mentioning that this started around 2am, after about 20 minutes I had finished eating a full meal (a big serving of home made cannellonis :). It's also worth mentioning that previous to that, at around 11pm I had a cup of green tea (I used two bags). I started drinking green tea just a week ago.
Finally and I believe this is most important, I had acid reflux four days ago after eating too much chips and guacamole late at night. This is the second time I have acid reflux in a month. Last time I had acid reflux before that was a year ago maybe. So... Oh yeah and I was also diagnosed with E.Pilory (bacteria) which causes acid reflux.
One more thing. Today I ate a lot: three big meals, all the same, at 11:30am, 5pm and 1am.

I most definitely think it's some sort of inflammation of the oesophagus. I think the best thing to do right now is to make an appointment with the doctor, fix my schedule, start eating healthy, at the right times of day and with measure.

I'll make an appointment tomorrow... I'll post as soon as I know anyting. Good luck to yall!

Well, my daughter has never smoked cigs and she does have controlled asthma and allergies, but has all of the sudden started w/ this cold sensation in her throat. She also has GERD but is also managed, however, I think her GERD needs to be managed better due to the new symptoms. There are more than your two scenarios of symptoms and their causes. There are always abnormalities w/ same or different symptoms and/or diagnosis. There are in fact more than the two issues you classified as causing these symptoms, not the 100% via 35% allergies and 65% smoking as the only two answers possible, which you did. Keep studying and look for other root causes besides ruling on a couple diseases and their symptoms.
