I am a 28 year old female. I have had one child with no complications. I have had no adbnormal pap smears. I have gone annually and am not due for another for some time. I am currently on Yasmin birth control yet have not had sex for two or three months. Today, the first day of my period, I experienced a discharge of a tissue-like substance. It was not a clot or anything of the sort. I'm a rather conservative, for lack of a better word, person so I absolutely dread going to the Ob/Gyn for something that is unnecessary to be seen for. I will make a phone call to them, if this is not successful, as a last ditch effort before making an appointment. This is simply something I have never experienced and was hoping that someone had some knowledge on the subject. Let me be clear, this is not mucus-like, stringy, to be graphic, unfortunately, it was more like the consistency of raw chicken fat.

Thank you.
i'm also on this same pill and i just had my first period when taking them and i experienced the same thing. I was freaked out and had no idea what to think, but since i noticed we are on the same pill may-be it has to do with that?

This is freaing me out. I am also on Yasmin - soon after I started using it last year I experienced exactly the same thing. I pinkish tissue like discharge that seemed kind of rubbery and firm. Scary :-(

I have had two chunks exactly like you described come out in two different periods, in the past year. At first I thought I had a miscarriage...maybe I did? I only took a pregnancy test the first time it happened.

The doctor said it was just tissue. My pieces were about 2-3 inches in length each.

Wow..this is kinda scary...I have been on Yasmin for 1 month and I am having my first period since I started taking it and I have had the exact same thing...Extremely sharp pains...I've never felt anything so painful before...and then I checked and I had large tissue chunks in my diva cup...I couldnt believe this...I made an appointment with the doc...I am going to mention other women have the same thing too and see what she says...

Well I was hoping to see if anyone else knew what this was, I had the same thing today. I've been using the Nuva ring as birth control. The discharge was similar to what everyone else described.

i am also on nuvaring... for 1 month only, and noticed the same thing in my period... it is scaring me as well... was wondering what this is!

I'm on Nuvaring too (one month so far) and I just started my first period while on it 4 days ago. I had the most jarring pains this morning and the same disgusting discharge late tonight. I too thought I miscarried, however, it's impossible because I am not sexually active.

I must say the "chicken fat" 2-3 inch description is quite accurate. It's sick.

I'm going to the gyno for a follow-up appointment and will definitely inquire.

It happened to me, I did go to my doc, she took a sample and it turned out to be a chunk of a fibroid, I had to have D and C done to treat it.

This happened to me also. I found it as I just entered the shower and was getting ready to lather up. It was the strangest thing, I wasn't sure if it really came out of me or if it was on the soap and I moved it there. I didn't feel any pain to make it move down there. It looked almost like a wad of washed paper found in your pocket after washing the clothes and it was firmer than regular discharge. It was really like a chunk. I looked at it and realized it opened up like a wad of paper too. I was so confused and shocked, I kept opening little piece by piece and it opened into two (one inside of the other) whitish pieces of tissue that almost looked like really thin latex but felt different! I haven't used a condom in over a year, and have only used one tampon (canoe trip) in the past probably 6 months because pads are just more comfortable for me. I don't know what it was. It was indeed a little rubbery but not liquidy at all...it was like tissue... I don't know!

The only difference between me and the rest of you woman is that i am a 14 year old who is not sexually active or using birth control... this has been happening for maybe the last 6 months...every month i have this tissue like substance as a discharge while on my period. Im very confused and i would just liek to know if there was anything that i could do...should i be worried?

I've had this happen as well, but from what I can tell it is probably just a bit of the uterine lining that gets shed during this time of the month; it gets pushed out through the vagina (hense cramping) and is usually broken down but I guess sometimes it's still in chunks. Should be nothing to be worried about.
