I am a 41 yr old female that had tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy 6 days ago and I have to take the norco every 4 hrs religiously or the left side of my tongue and throat are in excruciating pain. My teeth even hurt and feel like they’re sores in my mouth although I don’t see any sores. The back of my throat is gray colored and just today I coughed up a little bit of the gray scabbing. Luckily no bleeding like everyone told me I would. I suggest ice pack handy at all times, force yourself to drink water or liquids and gently brush your teeth and rinse with no alcohol mouth wash to curb the bad breath. My tongue and ears have hurt really badly and no one warned me of the tongue pain.

Hi, I am 57 and had my tonsils removed 9 days ago. In preparation, I got the gatorade drinks etc.
But the best thing I got was Baby Food. Pears, Banana and Fruit mix. Easy to swallow, smooth and I would assume a bit healthy. I tried mashed potatoes, over cooked Kraft Dinner, but the attempts to chew or smoosh it around my mouth was just too much for my tongue. So, stick to the meds every 4 hours, Cup a Soup with the noodles removed is nice on the throat.
I can tell where the doctor hit the back of my tongue with the sugical tools, but I guess they can tonsils can be connected the back of your tongue on the sides.
