Ok so about 3 weeks ago I started to get sick. My doctor thought I had tonsillitis so I went on anti biotics n prednisone. A week later I sick again but on my left tonsil (or so I thought). I then went on just prednisone and got a little better the next week they still don't know, they thought it was mono but blood tests over ruled this. This next time I got a cat scan and they said it was a cyst. Today it popped I popped it by lifting my tongue and almost trying to lift the back of it. When it popped it drained, and it was behind my gag reflex so I just swallowed it all. It continued to drain until it emptied I could feel the outside of my throat and it wouldn't be swelled. I. Noticed that when I didn't lift my tongue it would stay shut so when I did nothing it just filled again. I then proceeded to open and drain for about an hour. I feel great and it's a great relief who ever has these problems try popping it, the relief after 3 weeks is amazing I can only imagine a whole year. It's actually I tonic I was reading all this and them I popped it so I guess I'm just writing to inform now instead of a question enjoy!

I just went to an oday ENT today for a white leision on my tonsil. I was told if it is bothers me I should have it removed as it will not go away it will only get bigger over time. Im chosing to have it removed. Because it is on the underside of my right tonsil it made me gag just having him look at it. So I will need to go to Hosp to be put under for about 5 min to complete removal. Hope this helps.

OMG, yes I have the same thing! About 7 years ago it felt like there was a bit of food stuck in my throat and I went to the doctor and he told me it was a tonsil cyst and he gave me some amoxycillin antibiotics and that made the cyst decrease in size and I could no longer feel it. However, the cyst still remained on my tonsil, despite the fact that I could not feel it anymore, so I went and saw like 2 other doctors who told me it was fine and then I saw a ears/nose/throat specialist and he said that the cyst was harmless and it would probably drop off in like 10 years down the track. Recently (7 years after the cyst appeared) I noticed that my tonsil felt enlarged and it was a bit sore and there was a tingling sensation in that area/itchy feeling in my ear, so I went to the doctor and he told me I had a bacterial infection (nothing to do with the cyst) and he gave me some antibiotics, however these did nothing and then he gave me some different antibiotics and these also did nothing, right now I'm waiting for some results because he did a swab of my tonsils to find out what bacteria was causing the inflammation because different types of bacteria require different antibiotics, so I will get the results back on saturday, hopefully he has found out what bacteria has caused it because this swollen tonsil is frickin annoying! The cyst itself hasn't caused me any problems over the years

For about a month, I have had a sensation that "something was stuck in my throat". I went to an ENT specialist today, and he used cameras to get a good look at the back of my throat.  He photographed a large swollen bulb at the base of the right side of my tonsils.  The bulb even appeared to have a head on its bottom base (like the head on a pimple). The physician said it is definitely a tonsil cyst. I will have surgery within 48 hours to remove the cyst and, while I am still under anesthesia, he will have the cyst frozen, and tested for cancer cells (takes about 10 minutes). Should cancer cells be found, then he will go on to remove my tonsils at that time.  Though the physician does not think it is cancerous, he feels it is only wise to test the cyst for cancer cells.

3 days later, the cyst's full examination will have been completed with detailed information then available pertaining to any cancer present, type, etc., and I would then follow-up with appropriate cancer treatment. He says treatment provides a very high cure/survival rate.

I'll follow-up again with this site IF the cyst should prove cancerous.  However, again, neither the physician nor I expect cancer cells to be present. Statistics are on my side!

Hello,
Was it cancer? I was just diagnosed with a cyst on my tonsil but my doctor does not want to remove it. I think I want to get a second opinion.

I had a white spot on my left tonsil. It was not painful or anything but it was very noticeable. It was definitely not tonsil stones tho. It felt like a small ball filled with liquid. I was very concerned because I had it for about 4 months. I started to gargle with peroxide once a day, for a week. All of a sudden, it was gone! I was very relieved. I hope this helps.

It started with me having a very bad sore throat and I could see the bump on my left tonsil and what appeared to look like a zit on top of swollen tonsil. I had a low grade temp. I was give an antibiotic and told it looked like strep. I choose not to do the test because it's an extra expense and if it is the antibiotic was going to cure it anyways. My sore got better but it felt like my throat was on fire and I kept a low grade temp and the zit looking thing was still on my tonsils. I'm gargling with salt water constantly this while time. I got back to the doctor a week after finishing antibiotics and get another week/round of a different antibiotic. Still no better go back to the doctor the day of my last antibiotic. Was told it's nothing keep gargling salt water. 7 days later went back to the doctor was told to take Claritina lot of drainage doc said she saw on my throat and zit on my tonsil was fine it'll go away. 5 days later went the the ER was told to see a specialist put warm rag on my neck. Seen the specialist today. Was told it was a cyst on my tonsil and had to be surgically removed. Said I could leave it but it will grow to a stopping point. Was told they send it off if I choose to removed it to yest for cancer. Risks include bleeding and cancer. Surgery is May 10th... in 12 days

I had issues with pain, pressure and sickness for over 3 years. I have high pain tollerance and I guess I'm pretty hard headed because I avoided going to an ENT. Eventually I had a sore throat for about 2 months off and on and decided I needed help. The ENT let me known I had a tonsil cyst and they needed to be removed. So after a month of meds and no relief we scheduled to remove the tonsils. It was hell but I'm happy we went forward in removing them. Peace of mind and I feel better already and I'm only on my 2nd week since removing them. My advice, don't hesitate, have them removed. It's worth the 2 weeks of hell to never have issues again and it later maybe becoming cancerous.

Hi there, I just had a tonsil cyst and it was really disgusting and irritating. After a week of strong antibiotics the doctor told me if it hadn't cleared they wanted to take my tonsils out it did not clear the cyst so back to the doctors I went for a second opinion. This time the doctor sprayed some anisetic and removed it lots of puss and gunk and of course and old tonsil stone right under there which over time turned into a cyst. I just thought I would share my experience because I was really worried and this could help you but try not to stress and get a couple of opinions good luck and hope this helps
