I just got mine done today and I am a stoner and just smoked my vape to help with the pain, and it extremely did. But I was too afraid to use a bong or pipe because of the thick smoke on the raw skin. I feel like it would be painful. Also drinking water extremely frequently!

Nice imagery, but that's not how the body heals. It's not like a sponge forming, that soaks up anything that touches it. The top layer forms a crust which is fed nutrients and healed from the intact skin below. Yes, your mouth is wet, so the top layer isn't really so much of a crust as it is a slimy layer. However, I just wanted to point out that if you blow smoke onto a wound as it's healing, you are not creating a permanent diffusion of tar in your body.

Also I would like to point out to this person that you are NOT "re growing organ" in your throat. Your organ (the tonsil) was removed. It ain't comin back. What is happening is akin to skin healing, except that the skin is a mucous membrane located in your throat. Similar to if we remove a mole, our skin doesn't return to the area in a hole-filling magical sponge fashion. It would be awesome if it did, and if yours does that, check yourself into a biotech company so the rest of us can harvest your awesome genetics.

Even so, I don't recommend smoke on an open wound, because (1) Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and an immune-suppressant, so you will slow healing, (2) Nicotine is a carcinogen, and since your throat has an open wound not protected by a mucous membrane it is more susceptible to intracellular damage that could lead to cancer (rare but totally possible), and (3) The smoke will cause tar to accumulate, which will slow healing and is also a carcinogen.

If you're going to try to convince people of something, don't just make stuff up using descriptive imagery on how you imagine it works! That's bad for society. Minus one society point for you, because you tried to sell these people your medical advice based on an imagined an inaccurate version of the healing process.

Hi 20 here, I had my tonsils taken out about 8 days ago, best recommendation for smoking is to take it slow, if it causes alot of coughing I would recommend against it as it can cause bleeding. For cigarettes it hurt the first time I smoked on day 6 however day 8 no pain. I haven't tried smoking weed for fear of coughing and causing bleeding and I tried vaping but that hurt too. It depends on your pain level and if you think your ready.

i'm 14 years old and an every day pot smoker yes i know the risks of smoking weed at my age no i do not care so don't lecture me thanks. I got my tonsils out 12 days ago and i smoked on my 6th day, i smoked out of a bowl and i took tiny hits and i'm fine. So my advise is don't smoke until like your 6th day or until you feel OK to. Don't smoke smoke out of anything that you have to pull to hard on like no bongs and i would stay away from tobacco so no blunts but that's just me. I would stick to bowls just to be safe and take tiny hits and don't smoke too much at least enough to get you a buzz because you dont wanna get the munchies and then not be able to eat anything.

I’m 18 and got my tonsils out like 7 hours ago, how much did you wait exactly? I feel like if I use my chillum I’ll totally start bleeding, I mean by what I’ve seen I’ve healed super quick but the doctor told me im not supposed suck anything from a straw, etc. so idk if to use it or not

Thanks, just had surgery 2 days ago and I’m a everyday smoker. I’ve been taking small hits to get me through the day. No side effects yet ..

I got my tonsils removed the first week of the year and it is now about to be April. I am an everyday smoker and wondered the same thing. I waited to smoke till the doctor cleared me after the 2 weeks though I can tell you that wasn’t not enough time. I feel that if I had smoked in the first couple of days I probably wouldn’t have minded it due to the constant pain of everything else. But smoking while my throat was was in the final stages of healing definitely regressed my recovery. If you are wanting for a fast recovery I recommend either vaping every once in a while and slowly build up and or buy edibles. I had a whole tray of brownies which were amazing. To this day my throat is more sensitive to blunts I would say cause it’s still healing slightly.
