I had my tonsils out when i was 19 years old because my doc kept putting it off!! I had over enlarged tonsils that led to snoring and probably sleep apnea... back then they did not know about.  Although they did not take my adenoids out i still snore a little but no apnea.  So, what I really trying to say is that it is easier on a child to recover from a tonsillectomy now (children are so resilient) anyway rather than later in life.  My tonsils were so bad that after surgery 2 weeks after i hemorrhaged because he had to go so deep to cut them away and told me if this would of been taking care of when you were a child it would of never happened and proceeded to tell me that my tonsils were rotting due to chronic tonsillitis all the time.

Let me ask you this??.. is your child sick a lot with strep or colds and sore throat besides the sleep apnea too???  Because either your tonsils work or they don't!! Some times they are just in the way ya know!  I hope this helps you decide for your little one.  God Bless!

The second I woke up they gave me ice water and told me to drink while they were taking my blood pressure. 15 minutes later they had me eating a popsicle!

Hi I'm 29 and had my tonsils taken out 2weeks ago, after my opp they sent me home and within 24 hours I was in a&e not being able to breath and a high temp of 39.9c. They did some tests and it was pneunonia on my right lung!!! Was in hospital for 11 days, the first lot of antibiotics didn't work and I almost ended up in ITU! But the second worked and I'm recovering slowly at home. Has this happened to any one else?

Had my tonsils out yesterday afernoon, ive had operations before and never had a great deal of side effects ecept from the pain of course, but this time i can hardly speak my mouth is full of flem/mucus and any time i drink water it pours out my nose! I am also burning up, then freezing and felt terrible after a bath, had a migraine ever since i woke up in the recovery room. And last night i fainted, my parent think it was cause of my temp but im worried and certianly dont want to go back to hospital, any advice?!

How long until the dizziness stopped?

You are full of it there is no way you could have eaten that right after surgery. One your stomach couldn't handle it and you can't have anything sharp like toast or crackers because it will cause your surgical sites to start to bleed

Hey I'm Jade and I just had a sepbplasty-reduction of nasal turbinates and a tonsillectomy-tonsils removed 3 days ago. I went in at 3pm after a 4 hour wait on my own, then came out at 6ish. Went into my own private room where I had food and drink because I had not eaten for 24hours. So I was very hungry and pretty much ate everything even though I had just had surgery. By the 2nd day I was walking around at the shops went out for 5 hours, drinking and eating normal foods but by the end of the 2nd day it really hit me and I had pushed myself too hard. Have had a horrible night sleep for 2 nights and dizziness, congested nose and really sore throat with a bellyache probably from the panadeine forte because ive been in that much pain ive been taking that and nurofen mind you the panadeine forte makes you constipated so that's probably the reason. I'm now studying trying to finish a business plan powerpoint presentation and a business plan. Will have to go back into college on Tuesday so I'm hoping by a miracle I feel heaps better then what I am now because this is horrible!!! Just want to rest all the time but have things that need to be done so better try and cope with it now before I go back to college. Was very scary going under but when I woke up it was a huge relief and was so glad to see my parents again. my asthma is a lot better though so that's a bonus.

Hi everyone. I'm male 19 .
# Have been suffering from sore throat and Tonsillitis(swelling of tonsils) sometimes.
# During July-Feb, on an average I get sore throat once or twice each month due to gastric flows into throat.
# My life is pretty competitive and I don't have time to rest and recover from throat infections and swellings again and again.

# My Question: I'm giving a though to Tonsillectomy BUT I want to make sure that it's after effects after 1-2 months SHOULD NOT BE PERMANENT (dizziness , immunity or bad health). KINDLY GUIDE ME ON HOW IT IMPACTED ON YOUR LIFE regarding the symptoms and your health.

Is it true that men/boys that have their tonsils removed have less chance of having baby boys?
