I have really got to find out what it is that is plaguing me. All of this started around a week ago I should mention that about 2 weeks ago I just STOPPED taking 150 mg/day Lamictal so that is adding to the problems. I will be 19 in a month and I have a heavier build.

After I stopped the medication I felt fine and am still questioning any withdraw symptoms at all. The main problem I am having at the moment is my buttocks. A week ago on Monday I woke up and had to drive an hour and a half south of my hometown to sell a guitar amplifier. I had about an hour of sleep the night before mainly because I have extreme difficulty waking up in the mornings and I had to be in this town at 10 am, this means I needed to be up around 8:30 am because it was about an hour/hour and a half drive. I ended up losing track of time and watching a movie which ended at about 2:30 am. At this point I KNEW I was never going to drag myself out of bed so I essentially stayed up until around 7 before I couldn't handle it anymore. My alarm woke me up at 8:30 and I drove down to sell the amplifier. When I returned I vowed to stay awake until the sun went down so I didn't end up waking up in the middle of the night and further worsening my sleep schedule. I Managed to persevere until 8 pm at which point I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 10 am the following day. What I noticed when I woke up was that my ass (forgive the language) had a HORRENDOUS pain in it. It hurt to move in any direction and I could hardly sit, walk, and I definitely could not sleep on my back. I figured it would go away in a day or so so I just dealt with it. It's now day 5 and it still hasn't let up. Now it hurts to move altogether and I have been bedridden all day and most of the day yesterday (I had to go to college and register for classes for next year so I was up and moving most of the day).

The past couple of days my ass has been swollen. The affected area is near the top close to my lower back and just in the crack. I've been looking for a remedy everywhere and browsing numerous sites on the web before I have to go to the dreaded doctor. I considered the possibility that this might be a pilonidal cyst. However there is an absence of any unusual growth or discharge. The area above the affected area is swollen on either side of my buttocks and it is VERY red. The actual area itself is too tender to touch and if I move to where my cheeks pull apart there is searing pain. I tried icing it to reduce the swelling which didn't work. My girlfriend's mother made a concoction of hydrocodone and lotion to apply to it and that didn't work (however I did feel the hydrocodone in my system). I also tried taking a hot bath which also didn't work and it took me every ounce of constitution I had to be able to get out because the pain was that severe. My dad took a look at the area and said it just looked chapped. I've been chapped before and the pain has never been this bad. It is the closest thing I can imagine to having a razor blade cut you everytime you move. Every time I move or stand the pain is so severe I almost pass out.

On top of all this I've been feeling extremely repulsed by food lately. I realize I need to eat but nothing sounds good and I feel as though I may get sick when in the presence of food. I've been drinking a lot of fluids lately (mainly water, green tea, and gatorade) and I've only eaten about one to two times a day and only small portions whereas I used to eat much, much more. My weight has dropped significantly (about 15 lbs. in a week). Today I started feeling feverish and I tried the hot bath for my poor bottom. When I stood up from the bathtub the pain was extremely intense and I started feeling incredibly lightheaded and had light ringing in my ears. This happened to me in the hospital one time and I went temporarily blind (caused by seroquel). I managed to dry myself off and decided that I was not physically capable of taking a shower. I don't think ever before in my life have I been at this level of suffering and it's to the point now where my girlfriend has been at my house for 3 days straight taking care of me.

What is happening to me?
Hi Mat! I REALLY want you to see the doctor ASAP! I truly believe that you have an infection - that hasn't come to a head yet - when you wait too long it can lead to blood poisioning so PLEASE get it looked at, it might need a swab and I would hope that your doctor put you on a strong antbiotic! Remember what you are dealing with here, it is right in the dimple of your bum, you are a heavier build - thus having more skin which isn't getting air! It's a dirty place and things grow in that area VERY quickly due to lack of air, moist, dirty etc! It's an infections dream area! So please get some help - heck you've already shown 3 people, a doctor shouldn't be so bad!!! ;-) XD Pleaes let me know how you make out OK? good luck!

I went to the doctor today and I have been informed I have an epidermoid cyst above my tailbone. It is very infected. He put me on 2000mg antibiotics daily and told me to put a warm wet washcloth on the area 2-3 times daily which should drain it. This does not sound fun at all and I am praying for fast relief from this.

I thought so! Another GREAT thing - IF you can handle it is sit in the hottest bath water your body can handle and let the water only go above the cyst, pour in and dissolve about 4 full cups of Epsom Salts! This helps draw out the puss! IF you cannot sit on your bottom, put a fold up towel in there so you can sit on that! Also a GREAT thing is to boil whole cabbage leaves, as soon as they become soft, turn down the water and let the leaves cool down so they are hot - but don't hurt the skin! Then place them on the area - these are warm and DRAW out the puss AND have an analgesic quality to it! with the major anitbiotics, you should notice quite a difference in 3 days IF you don't go back to him! IF you do - no matter what you finish those OK? Eat probiotic yogurt - to help eat the poison! And also you can use a bread milk poltice, boil milk dip a alice of old bread in it really quickly and put on the cyst - hot enough to open the cyst BUT NOT burn you1! Wash the area with Teraseptic body was = it is a non soap antibacterial cleanser! And air dry, lay on your front in a room with the window open! And get some air on it! Also an ice cube can REALLY numb the area and take down the swelling! Keep me updated OK? Good luck honey!

Ok. So yesterday my cousin had taken me to the doctor. When we returned I started my antibiotics and kept a warm wetted washcloth on the area for the majority of the night. The pain coming from the cyst prevented me from getting much sleep or being comfortable. My girlfriend came back to stay with me again tonight and I was unable to move all day. She brought me some Vicodin to help the pain and i've taken 3 of them over the course of the day. I had been laying in the same position almost all day and I still couldn't roll over or get out of bed. She went and got us some food and movies to watch and came back. About an hour later I became extremely uncomfortable and it was very painful. The only way I could really move was to compress the area with my hands and then shift positions and even doing this I could only move a few inches. I told her I was going to lift my body up and she was going to pull the pillow I had been sitting on under me in a more even fashion. After she had done this I suddenly felt something running down my backside. It took me an additional 20 minutes to finally gather the courage to stand up. I stood up and my boxers were soaked and upon viewing my pillow it was completely DRENCHED in blood. My cyst had exploded. The vicodin was making me very dizzy so I had to run downstairs and splash cold water on my face several times to keep from passing out. I knew I had to clean the area so I got in the shower but I had to run the water as cold as it would go so I could stay concious. I cleaned and soaped the area and upon viewing the area I have an enormous gaping wound where the cyst was. After I stepped out of the shower I packed some gauze on the wound and the pain associated with moving has almost completely gone. The swelling is nearly non-existant. I'm going to continue taking my antibiotics and i'm going to see the doctor again tomorrow to see if they need to do any further cleaning and/or stitching. Hopefully I can just continue with my antibiotic regiment and it is acceptable just to dress it with gauze as long as I clean the area and change the wadding.

But I am feeling much much better now! :-D

IF you can get your hands on a squirt bottle, what you do is this! You fill it ALMOSt to the top with VERY warm water and about 3 tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide! Shake it to mix it! And then everytime you go to the washroom and after a shower squirt the area clean! Do NOT use soap on the area, use a non soap cleanswer - such as Spectrogel, Physioderm, and the best Teraseptic! Air dry and cover with clean gauze wear cotton underwear! the hole should fill in each day! just keep on with thos anitbiotics do NOT stop! Just remember to keep it clean!
