I just recently had surgery and took cipro. OMG the itching and the burning came out of no where. I went to the dr. and she prescribed Diflucian and that still didn't help. I am about to loose my mind. I read that you can take some PLAIN yougart and rub on your vigina and take apple cider baths. I tried that I let the yougart sit for 20 min then took the apples cider bath and it kinda helped but the next day I nearly lost my mind again. I don't know qhat to do

Thanks for posting. I'm experiencing something similar. However these simptoms didn't start til AFTER I took Ciprofloxacin eye drops for 7 days. Soon after that i'd have pink goo then my body couldn't make up it's mind whether or not i'm on my period. It bleeds then stops. it bleed alot last night i thought "Finally it started" cause it's supose to and this morning I checked and it stopped again. and its weird cuz it's like blood and brown stuff. Really gross... This has been goin on for like 5 days now! And I had this funny feeling it had something to do with Cipro

My urologist had to use a cystoscope on me and gave me cipro as a precautionary measure and I am experiencing the same problems a horrible itchy burning sensation around my taint and rectum. I've used vagisil, diaper cream and cortizon.. nothing is working. Have a doctors appt tomorrow and will post what he says.

Wow, it blows my mind how many people are experiencing the same problems from this antibiotics. I went into the ER for diverticulosis & UTI. They prescribed me Cipro & Flagyl. They did a pelvic exam and at the time I didn't have yeast infection symptoms. I've been on both antibiotics for 6 days now. I notice I started getting symptoms of a yeast infection on day 4. It started burning in between my anus & opening to my vagina . Today I went to urinate and oh my goodness it burned so bad. Even when I wiped. I used a mirror to take a look as I noticed my left side (where my pubic hairs start) hurt the most. I have a long straight lesion about an inch long. It almost looks like a scratch. I still have 4 more days to go with this awful antibiotic. Cures one problem & creates another. :/

Hi there,

it's terrible what your doctor told you. The reactions you got from CPRO are not normal in healing situation andit means that your body is intolerant to this antibiotics and in particulat to this kind of solution.

I would rather suggest you to look into this site BESTFROMNATURE. Many women are looking into the remediesthey are proposing both for interstitial and bacterial cystitis. You will find all the answers you need. Believe me you could find your pain reliefs and what's more to suggest these remedies to some other women suffering from UTI.

Keep me informed

I started ciprofloxacin tablets 3 days ago for a kidney infection.. I am on birth control & i know when im supposed to get my period and i'm only 2 weeks into it.. I started taking cipro and ever since i've been on my period bleeding more heavily than i EVER have before and clotting massively. I'm unsure if its from my own health issues or from the prescription.. but from everyone elses posts im thinking its from the pills?

I normally do not post replies but having read this forum, I figured I should give back to the community.
Like the previous male above, I took ciprofloxacin (cipro) and developed what appeared to be a sun burn or chemical burn on the head and one side of my penis (upper right side). I had a bad cough with yellowish phlegm so the pharmacy gave me ciproloxacin pills and recommended I take 2 per day.  Not 30 minutes after the first pill I felt a tingling sensation on the head of my penis. One scratched (abnormal good sensation)  the "itch" went away for some 5 or 10 minutes.
The next morning I took another pill after breakfast and felt the same feelings come back.  I looked at my penis in the bathroom and noticed that it was red and blotchy spots there. I thought maybe it was just the house cleaner used too much detergent. Later that day I took another pill of cipro. This time I noticed again after 30 minutes the sensation were strong and the itch burning. I have stopped taking cipro for 2 days now and the skin has stopped itching but is still blotchy and flaking (not quite peeling).  I've never had anything like this before and I can surely attribute it to the drug. I don't think I've ever had a reaction to it before but I do recall taking it once before, for a urinary tract infection.
Hope someone finds this information useful. I guess this may be my first medicinal allergic reaction.

Thank you all SO much! I just started taking cipro for a uti and suddenly developed these lesions on my vaginal lips and vaginal walls. I had no idea where I could possibly have contracted anything as I am in a long-term, monogamous relationship and I felt confident that my partner doesn't cheat. I have been horrified. The symptoms began about 24 hours after I started the cipro and I have never taken it before, nor have I ever experienced any symptoms like this before. It is awful. I am going to call my dr tomorrow to ask for something else. Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone.

Same here.  I went to the doctor a few days ago for severe lower back pain.  My doctor believes its a kidney infection and gave me cipro.  The next day I had extreme vaginal itching and discomfort.  Its been going on for three days now.  I've never had a yeast infection before, so I'm thinking its the cipro.  No lesions or skin peeling (thankfully) just irritation, itching and burning when urinating.  After a bit of time passes, it finally subsides, but then with all the water I have to drink due to the kidney infection, I am having to pee a lot and so the itching starts all over again.  Its driving me crazy!!  I am also allergic to penicillin and sulfa, both antibiotics I believe, so I guess I'm just hypersensitive to these types of meds (great!!).  xp

I know this is an old post but I am a "floxie". I have been poisioned by cipro and have had vaginal skin burning and lower bladder burning ever since the last time I took cipro. I had been on cipro many times throughout the last five years for UTI's and have developed many health problems. The vaginal itching and burning is very uncommon though so I am not sure what to make of it. It is very painful and has lasted 4 months now. I have been tested for all STD's and had a regualr exam. I've also had a bladder ultrasound. They can't figure it out. I'm just wondering if this is a very rare side effect of the cipro. It looks like some others have a similar reaction.
