I read a brilliant article on ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed about dreams and weed (search vivid dreams vice weed) which have reasons for why many ex smokers experience such vivid dreams and lack of sleep.

I highly recommend it because it puts everything in perspective.

In regards to my own progress, I've been sober for about 10 days now and the two things that have helped me with cravings are meditation and juicing.

I basically swapped my cuisine ala stoner for a raw food diet. Which basically means I put a bunch of fresh greens and fruits in a Vitamix and chug that sh*t down. It's helped led clear the fog and stabilised my overblown sugar levels from years of eating like a pig.

Meditation has helped me centre myself and see life in a different perspective. Nothin complicated, just a few times a day where i go to a room and sit, block out everything and concentrate on my breathing.

I think we owe it ourselves to take charge of our lives and destinies by saying no and building the elusive muscle called discipline.

I've smoked for 8 years? Everyday give or take and tbh I haven't gained sh*t. I'm writing this 10 days into t my journey to sobriety and even though I've been staring at the wall/iPhone for the past 5 hours knowing ive gotta be up in a few hours for a job interview - I couldn't be happier.

f**k sleep. I know it'll come back.
Going a few weeks without proper sleep ain't gonna kill anyone. It will only make me stronger for the challenges I've eluded for the pat years.

So my advice; check out the article, juice your ass off and try meditating.

Good luck and hopefully good night

Yo this is a late post but hope it help. Only reason i ever wanted to quit cuz my family saw me as an addict. In that sense my advice to u is not quiting but getting ur addiction in control.smoke weekends or dont smoke to the point it affects ur life. If u behave like a crazy addict who just dont care about sh*t. Then u need to see an addiction counselor. Only certain addicts act recklessly.thats when u need an intervention. Weed has given u way too much ephoria for u to start trying to live without it now. Weed diminishies ur bodily senses and as a result ur higher being comes alive. Dont try t quit but make a use of it.

It's not that it messed with your happy chemicals. Weed is so good at making your day amazing and just so much better all around that when you stop you realize life just isn't as good without it

Well I've been smoking for the last 15 years on pretty much two or more grams a day. ItIt got so bad that I lied to the only person who means a lot to me. It's now day five and I have slept mayb3-4 hour all together in those five days. It's harder as I thought. Workout well I'm pretty lazy even without weed so that's a now and pills not sure about it I think the one fellow is right it takes time but. I feel more and more dizzy and can't concentrate at all simple counting gives me a hard time. So for the bud who posted that eight month shouldn't be a problem give it some time drink loads of water and when the craving hits eat an apple sounds silly but it really helps. Sleeping I don't know I'm not a big fan of pills but I think there no other choice or any ideas guys ?

hey man I'm going through the same thing as you. I would recommend doing some intense aerobic or weight training. Also if you have a blender, make a mix of water (or cranberry juice), spinach and bananas. The spinach won't taste like anything mixed with the bananas but the drink will calm your stomach, absorb toxins, balance pH levels and increase appetite. If you have to, force some oatmeal or metamucil down your throat to stimulate bowel movements. sh**ting out the gunk will make you feel so much better, believe me. I've been awake for over a day now and it's rough but as long as you treat yourself well your body will thank you. Just my 2 cents

Its been 3 days since I stopped smoking weed heavily, and it takes me around 5 hours to fall asleep, im depressed and crawling out of my skin for some cannabis. What ever happened to the part where weed is not addictive...

Smoked a little each day for the last 4 years. Got tired of going to the gym and emptying out the fridge. Day 4 of not smoking I went into a chill and was on my 3rd night of little sleep. Took two small tokes and I was out like a light. Guess the weening method might work!!

Hi guys, I have smoked weed for 20 years, and in that time have stopped once for a period of 6 months. The first week of abstinence was difficult, especially sleeping, but after a week of perseverance I started to sleep like a teenager again., and my appetite was normal, no feeling sickly in the morning (you know what I mean). I went to a music festival and was surrounded by dealers and smokers and buckled thinking that a one off would be OK. Again the weed crept in and weeks later was back to my half ounce a week habit. I have now stopped again and my sleep is awful and my dreams are flooding my brain, very intense!
I am on night 5 now and hoping to sleep properly tonight, wish me luck!

I'm currently laying in bed st 530am wondering when this will end.. Night #1 for me and not off to good start. Quit few years back so I knew what to expect but forgot how much this sucks. I can't sleep so I'll put my science degree to work by explaining WHY our brain isn't alllowing us to sleep.

Marijuana stimulates the PRODUCTION of dopamine causing the relaxing effect (amoung other effects) but decreases the amount melatonin neurotransmittor within the pineal gland locations within the epithalamis of the brain. The brain stops producing so much melatonin since your body is receiving large amounts of this neurotransmitter from the actually THC ( tetrahydracannibanoid). Therefore causing your brain to respond to this external factor (consumption of smoking marijuana) by DECREASING melatonin productions, your body will tell the ribosomes (they create complex polypeptide chains, which is a fancy word for amino acids) floating within cytoplasm and/or within rough endoplasmic reticulums (RER). These ribosomes will change the order of which amino acids they collect first, creating new proteins for your bodies needs. The human body is amazing as homeostasis is crucial to survival, and allows our body to adapt to our lifestyle.

Hope some of you at least find that interesting!

You're annoying and actually if dependent enough the brain can stop producing necessary neurotransmitters "so getting off your butt" isn't always the be all end all of things.
