I recently had a cortisone shot in my neck (cervical stenosis), and all the symptoms from my prior face-lift have reoccured. I was wondering if cortisone would have this effect? It is so uncomfortable. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.
Hi:
There are side effects resulting from cortisone shots, but they seem to usually be a problem at the site of the injection...Those might be swelling, discoloration, bruising and soft-tissue discomfort. Perhaps we could be more helpful if we knew exactly what symptoms you are speaking of that are similar to those you experienced after your face-lift. Let us know exactly what's going on and then perhaps one of our community members can be more specific with some support and advice. I hope you will be feeling better soon....Let us know.

My symptoms between six -one year after my facelift were redness from behind the ear down the neck, sore ear, spongy patch from ear about 1/4 way on cheek which has no coloring--whitish looking. And also tightening sensation as if I was wearing a very tight headband. One year from this past March my doctor gave me a shot of Kenalog in a keloid scar behind my ear. It seems like from there all my troubles started again. For one year I kept hoping it would dissipate. I then was diagnosed with the cervical stenosis.

The post facelift symptoms all came back after I had the cortisone shot about ten days ago. Esp the spongy area on my cheek. The stenois and the facelift after math are so close, sometimes I can't quite tell them apart.

Thanks for any help. I do appreciate it.

Hi:
I was wondering if the symptoms that you were having were related to the face-lift or the cervical stenosis. Do you know? Are things slowly getting better for you (over the last couple of weeks)? Please let me know the answer to those questions. Do you have to continue taking the shots? Please update me on your condition. I hope that you have more answers and I hope that you are feeling better. I'll be waiting to hear from you. Take care.

Thanks for you interest. I still have the symptom of tightness behind my ears--feels like I am still wearing a tight headband!! The "deep penetrating" cortisone shot worked about 50 percent. The doctor said the inflammation to the nerve from the cervical stenosis was radiating up my neck, etc. Yes, the inflammation of the nerve is causing stiffness in my neck, ear and shoulder. Oh well--I actually feel better knowing that is the cause. My spongy cheek has pretty much dissipated for now!! The doctor said that I could have one more of that type of shot---and if that doesn't do the trick I would have to think about an operation.

Thanks again for your attention.
