im no doctor but my girlfriend is having the same problem. i suggest that all of u go to the doctors and tell them to check you for Porphyria. This is a hereditary disease and its hard to detect. My girlfriend went to many doctor's, stomach surgeons.. etc etc. but they gave her a bunch of BS sayin its really rare nd its because shes tall and slim. there are treatments for porphyria such as Phenothiazine, chloral hydrate or diazepam, and Hematin.
If you have not had full GI testing done, get it done. It could be gastroparesis. Basically a paralyzed stomach. There are varying degrees as to how paralyzed your stomach may be, but if your stomach is not moving the food through to the small intestine, it produces extra acid to constantly break down the food. Because the food and acid is not moving through the stomach it must come out some how...this is the vomitting. There is sometimes no reason for it, usually happens to females, sometime diabetics are more prone to it.
Ask for a gastric emptying test. This will tell you if it is gastroparesis. Check it out on-line.

Wow, this reminds me of a problem I had for a long time. I have always been underweight. I used to get frequents stomach aches, but I would avoid taking medications or vomiting. Some people would tell me that it might be an ulcer in my stomach. After a couple of years with this problem, I went to a Gastroenterologist, at first he suspected that I might be Gluten intolerant, which really scared me. Then I had done an Esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Turns out I have Hiatal Hernia, Mild Gastritis, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS. As a result I am in a lactose free diet, which has decrease the bloating in my stomach and the stomach pains. I also had done an abdominal sonogram, turns out I have the walls of the gallbladder thick (Cholecystitis). A surgeon had also put me on Prilosec for a month.. but the stomach pains were not going away... Now I just avoid certain foods, anything that has lactose, cream, sauce, red meat and fried foods... I have stop eating junk food and sweets, also citrus juice, soda and coffee.
I think keeping a healthy diet is the best thing for the stomach problems. Take vitamins and make sure you have a lot of fiber in your diet and drink plenty of water. Also exercise frequently and try to have some relaxation to avoid stress.

I am 18 years old, and have been vomiting everything I eat and drink for over a year now. I have been to every different kind of specialist you can imagine, and still have no diagnosis besides Gastro Peresis( which is a delayed stomach emptying) however there is no cause for this disease(for me). I've lost about 20 lbs, and my weight is constantly fluctuating. It's my senior year, and I've missed just about everyday so I do my school work from home. I am a dancer, and try my hardest to keep up with my passion for it as best I can, but sometimes it is impossible. I have been hospitalized for passing out, dehydration, and blood in my vomit quite a few times. I'm so ready for somebody to give me an answer for why I have this bizarre disease. Please HELP !!!
If anyone else is struggling with the same thing here are some tips I've picked up over the past year
- NO high acid foods like red sauce! Its very painful coming up
- If you do happen to be throwing up lots of acid...coat it by eating ice cream to protect your throat and mouth
- Eat foods that are similar to what babies eat(especially when you're having a bad day or week)
foods like...cereal(hot and cold) milk,shakes,ice cream, pancakes,eggs....ect
- Keep up on ant-acid medication!!!! this is very important I've even been recommended to double the dosage.
-Stay hydrated as best as possible
- Learn about vitamins via IV...I've gotten them for quite some time now, and they help me to stay balanced with whatever my body is not keeping in of nutrition.
There has got to be a diagnosis out there for those of us who suffer with this terrible condition. If anyone has any information whatsoever I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to be completely normal again, and I'm sure all of you would too!

My husband is 42 and has been having this problem for about 3 years now. He is very tall and skinny always has been. But like the earlier post, his stomach is very swollen. He has gained weight since all this has started even though is still very skinny. He will get sick and throw up for a few weeks and then it will get better for a few and then it starts all over again. He has been to the dr. many times over this and a specialist also. He has been tested for everything possible and been given all kinds of medicine. Nothing helps and every test has came back normal. The dr. finally gave him xanax to take and this helped like I said for a while and now it doesn't help. It worries me alot because he travels with his job and stays in hotels all during the week. I hate knowing that he is on the road and sick throwing up. Sometimes he just won't eat, so he won't have anything to throw up, but then he starts feeling real weak. Please if anyone knows what this may be please let me know. I think the doctors gave up because they couldn't find out what it was so they just think its anxiety. I just don't know what to do.
Although I don't think this is what it is, but in case in helps anyone else that comes looking with the same problem.
I had started doing this too a long long time ago. It was the birth control pills I was on. The doctor's swore up and down it wasn't. I finally just stopped taking them and wa-la, stopped puking soon after.
For those who are younger, maybe it's the hormonal changes.

Killkelseyxxx,
Well, I am currently going through the same issue you are. But I am fairly new at this. I have been on a clear liquid diet for the past two weeks and yet I cannot quit vomiting. First, I was told I had kidney stones. Today, I was told to try Prolosec. lol. I do believe the medical field has totally lost all regards to treating patients effectively! I can't seem to find anything to keep down. I know what you're going through!

For the longest time my 15 year old daughter has had unexplainable vomiting with a lot of stomach pain. I've been searching for answers like crazy and finally I found, what i believe, is the problem. Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome; aka- C.V.S. I read the entire article about it and it felt like I was reading my daughters medical history. Then I found your post and a lot of others that seem to have the same problem. I will be calling her Doctor in the morning with this new found information. Just type in Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome in your search engine and see if that applies to you. I wish you the best and hope you're able to find the answers your searching for. Tami in Washington, Pa.
this is the first time i have heard of someone having the same symptoms as myself, i am 16, and it all began from my when i was 12. again i have constant vomiting and doctors and phycologists can't fid the route of my problem. it has also been said to me that anxiety only worsens my problem. i have missed a lot of school, however my school are supportive in providing home education for me to keep my grades up. people who don't know me immediately think i have some sort of eating disorder and this is most defiantly not the case. i have also missed out on the social aspect of my teenage years. i don't think you'll find this helpful, but on some level it is comforting to know that you are not the only one with this baffling disorder (or whatever you wish to call it). hope that you get better soon, and if you ever want to talk about things ill leave my email, maybe we can help eat other out along the way. ***this post is edited by moderator *** ***
