I'm so happy I'm not alone with this weird problem. It just happened to me again after about a year and I finally decided to look it up. I've always brushed it off but this time it lasted much longer then usual and things sped up faster then usual. So I'm freaking out right now.

Go to a doctor and get it checked out to play it safe. You can find a lot of scary stuff on the internet when you start to dig around by listening to everyone's stories (maybe not all bad).

I got these when I was about 9-12 (I am currently 32). My sister got the "Alice in Wonderland" Syndrome and so does my Dad, and his brother, and his sister. I have not had a seizure but everyone else I mentioned has had one. My sister (Age 34) had one a few months ago. She and my father are on meds now and are both fine. My understanding is that these are seizure related. I am not a doctor and I would advise you to go to one just to get checked out.

As I mentioned in my post my daughter has had this but only the sound distortion and the feeling everynoise was loud and fast even her own thoughts.

Did your family have just these symptoms are did you all also have the size distortion issue?
How did you go about being diagnosed? Did you have to see a specialist and what kind of seizures did they say they were? Also do you mind me asking what the name of the meds are they are on.
Thanks

i get these sometimes and have a pain in my head afterwards, it sounds like everything is charging straight at you, all at the same time. it is very dizzying and is usually a symptom of feeling unwell or an emense headache. what i feel works best is to get a cold glass of water, then sit somewhere you can see and hear everything that is going on, and dont close your eyes but blink very quickly, otherwise it will get worse.

i hoped this helped and if you follow these tips, it should be better than to just close your eyes.

I get this feeling enough times to say its often.  I did have this happen as a teen a lot.  My head races while my body functions regular speed. My thoughts are "loud" and "urgent." its also been a rare occasion Ive felt lightheaded. Ive never really thought that there may be something wrong til now, since I am clinically diagnosed anxiety/ mild depressive. Currently looking into a getting a cognitive test.

This has happened to me a lot over my life, ive never explain it to anybody because its too hard and they wouldnt understand, to those i have mentioned it to i just call it the voices in my head thing, i am a teenager now and i have been getting this all through my life, ive never understood it, Its mostly on a night when im alone, my brain starts to fill up with all this, noise, i just carnt explain, it gets louder and louder and louder yet i know everythings silent, i move at normal speed yet i seem like im in such a rush, yet i know how fast im actually moving, everythings so urgent and fast and loud and its horrible, i look around and get freaked out, if i walk around i seem asif im running, if i go and ask anyone if i seem fast they say no, when i try moving slower to get my brain back to normal speed they notice me moving slow, its horrible, sometimes it stays for minutes, sometimes hours, i just beg it to go away, i need to know what its about and if im okay? This happens randomly around every couple of months where as it used to be weekly, i just need answers, please?

It's quite a relief that knowing I'm not the only one.

I'm 19 years old, and it accoured to me yesterday, mostly 2-6 times a year, when i was a child it also was more often, about 1 time every week. I don't use drugs or smoke. But I do know that I had an 2-3month early childbirth.

And yesterday when I was reading a document from my pc, everything else was quiet and I did not move a muscle, the room was dark. Then it happened, at start I feel that I can touch things from a distance, and its like you are getting heavier and at the same time getting pulled from every angle, it feels stronger if you sit or lay completely still.

Everything and the text that I was reading become very clear and I could read it almost at any distance. Also I felt that I move my body at incredible speed, I felt it to be more stronger, but seemed from observers that everything is normal.

But still it feels like time is moving faster, as others have mentioned.I have a theory, that it happens when you are completely relaxed and sitting or laying on the bed, you focus on 1 activity, such as reading, cause it also was the thing that triggered the feeling for me before.

I quite enjoy this feeling but also at the same time am worried cause I don't control it. Objects, room, things don't appear to be bigger or smaller as others have mentioned, but seeing from a distance become more clear, even in a dark room.

It lasted about 3-5mins, when I made pushups I no-longer felt it.

I tried to find some info in the web, I found that there might be many similar names to this phenomenon. But still the description don't match this. Although here is a video what might be related to this.

I'm amazed at the amount of people this has affected! I have experienced the same symptoms, everything moving so fast! And like most of you on here, it was more frequent in childhood. I'm 25 now and it only happens maybe once or twice a year. Along with the feeling that everything is moving so fast, I also get some sensory feelings mixed up. My teeth feel soft, my hands feel weird as well. I've thought alot lately that it was just a brief sensory overload. It usually only lasts a few minutes. I would stare at my clock and watch the second hand move or stare at myself in the mirror just to try to maintain normalcy. Weird!!

I'm 27 an just went through a bout of this sensation about 10 minutes ago (it finally faded). I've had this happen to me at least 4 or 5 times a year since I was about 10. My neurologist explained to me that what it looks like during a scan is a bunch of mini twitches seizures in the brain all firing in rapid succession, one right after the other. So small they don't effect me other than producing the sensation of rushed surroundings while perceiving everything as normal.

It is like a double vision/sensation is the easiest way for me to describe it. He said these types of seizures are very common in people who's brains are still developing, or have some type of damage (which mine does, just not an impairing type of damage.)

He said most people never notice them in their lives, but some people are sensitive to them and they get this type of sensation.

Hope whoever reads this doesn't freak out about it. Perfectly normal and awesome in my opinion :)

Heyy guys. Yeah I am 17gonna and I get these feelings all the time. Not just when I am getting ready to sleep but whenever. I also have a sense of every action being angry. Like breathing sounds as if I am angry. And I feel more alert like more hand eye coordination. Other ppls movements don't seem as fast as mine. Also I was born 10 weeks early Idk if that has anything to do with it. I don't take any medications either. I liked how someone said alice in wonderland syndrome haha well if anyone finds anything out keep us posted

@Will R - where are you based? UK? I've not had one of these episodes for a while now. I was unaware anyone could get any clarification on them but it's good to know. :O

Since I last wrote I have taken my daughter to her pediatrician. He thinks it does sound like Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, though he has read about it he has never actually seen someone with it. Possibly because children don't realize at first that not everyone has this and when they do realize somethings not right they don't know how to explain it or are embarassed. My daughter has always suffered from bad headaches which he thinks are probably migraines and related to the sound distortion.

He still is sending her to a neorologist to see what he thinks and make sure it's not a symptom of something like seizures or brain tumor.

Her appt isn't for 2 months but I will let you know what he says
