I cannot describe how happy I am to know that I am not the only one out there! I tried to explain it once to family and friends but no one ever understood me, so I just forgot about it. Whenever it happened (not often at all, once a year maybe) I was aware that i was doing things fast, thinking fast, everything is fast HOWEVER at the same time I am aware that it is at a normal pace. No physiological changes, no disruption in attention/memory/etc. I dont get bothered at all by it, but when it occurs i get amazed! Hopefully will get answer to what this is soon!

My son's issue seems to only happen after he's fallen asleep. Usually within 2 hours of falling asleep but only happens once every month or two. He is 6 1/2 years old. They seem to be night terrors and for the most part is looking around the room and at me but not focusing. He is very upset and not making much sence with his words but when I start talking he gets more upset. When he's coming to he tells me it's like I was talking too fast and that there are lots of voices but everyone is talking to fast. So maybe it isn't the same thing as everyone else. I know he has night terrors but this seems to be an added component and he remembers once he comes to what his night terror was about and about the noise and fast talking. Hrmmmmm

I remember being about 7 or 8 and laying in my bed, I could hear the clock ticking much louder than usual and time seemed to speed up, I could also hear my mother calling me and she sounded as if she was just outside my room but she was nowhere near my bedroom. I've just experienced something similar which made me come on this forum, everything speeded up as I was cleaning my room, my hands moved much faster then they had previously and my breathing was faster too. I haven't experienced this in years and years and would love to know what triggered it again.

I am 15 and just experienced this feeling. It's interesting because it felt really familiar and i realized that i had experienced it before, but   years ago. Its the sensation where i know im moving at a normal speed but it feels like im doing it much faster. I also heard voices that were whispering or yelling or talking really fast - too fast for me to make out what they were saying though. They sounded frantic and angry and then all of the sudden calm and then back to frantic and angry. haha it probably sounds like iv got schizophrenia but i swear im not crazy. also, when i said something in my head i heard it again in a frantic voice. im not really worried now after seeing this and i know im not completely crazy, but does anyone know what this is called and does anybody else hear these voices?

holy cow!

It's good to know that I am not alone.

I haven't had this feeling for a while now. But I always refereed to it as the "fast feeling." Or describe it as a "tape on fast forward " It is a most terrifying feeling. It's like your mindset completely changes. Everything is moving fast, things tend to be louder. The people you speak to seem to speak  faster.

Sometimes I wonder is this ever going to end. Its crazy because you know when its coming. It normally triggered when things were quite. When I have were my own thoughts.

It came to a point where I could trigger it myself by concentrating at a point ( corner in the ceiling) and trying to hyper focus on it. Then try to remember the feeling. If you can still get it (i refuse to try anymore) try doing that method if u want it again. worked for me...

This is a very chaotic feeling. I use to get them a bunch when I was younger. My psychiatrist couldn't tell me what it was. It damn sure wasn't a panic attack.

You need to learn how to control it.

It's all chaotic, fast, brick-feeling. Sounds are off the charts, movement it crisp and faster then normal.

Anyone you hear speak sounds like their speaking 2x.

you know when it coming. That quite, calm eerie feeling...

Sometimes you can trigger it yourself just by thinking about it.

control it, do not block it out with TV or loud music.

congratulations your psi active.

Control it, or lose it

I'm fifteen and I've been having the 'fast feeling' since I was about five. It all started with this dream where I couldn't really determine time or speed because I felt like everything was going too fast and too slow. I can't actually remember what happened in the dream but I know it was terrible and so extremely frightening, I think my mind chose to forget it so I I wouldn't be traumatised by it. Ever since then, every now and then, my brain goes crazy and everything starts going extremely fast. I describe it as 'the fast/ slow feeling' because everything feels like its going fast but it also feels like its really slow because it lasts so long and I know that time is normal and it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Whenever I experience the fast/slow feeling I've been in bed, either about to go to sleep or having just woken up. I feel like the wall opposite me is lots closer than it actually is and it terrifies me. I try and distract myself by playing slow music or talking to someone but it doesn't really work. The feeling vanishes after about ten minutes or so. I don't think it is Alice In Wonderland Syndrome because the only thing I see that has changed is the closeness of the wall, the most significant change is the speed. It may be something to do with anxiety or just the brain experiencing unconcienceness while conscious( if that makes sense). I've spoken to a few people about this and none of them have a clue what is going on, it is great to know that I'm not the only person experiencing these episodes but I would like to find out what this actually is.

Hello and thanks for all the great explanations everyone has shared  over time!

I have started researching these sensations since my 7 year old daughter described them to me last night, very scary for her.

At first I felt like they could be related to anxiety and after a little research its closer to a migraine. The closest thing I can find is Alice in Wonderland syndrome.

http://en.wikipedia.org

It seems  that all of a persons sensations can be affected, thoughts, sight, hearing, feel, time perception . Treatment is described as following a migraine diet will help these to subside.

I pray this will help for Abi!
