Finding this page is absolutely amazing (like many others have said before). I also use to call this the "fast feeling" when I was little, and tried to explain it to so many doctors, so many times. It is everything you and others have said. Everything is sped up, everything you do seems like its on fast forward, your own voice in your head is sped up and louder. It's terrifying. I use to get them all the time between the ages of 5 and about 13. Now they only happen maybe once every two months, but then can not happen for several months (I'm now 23).
Certain things trigger it like credits on the screen rolling at a certain speed, or the tempo of a song. I usually just try and breathe really deeply, or take my mind off it by having a conversation with someone, or reading a news article. Within the past week I have had two, both while playing the iPhone app Scramble with Friends. It's strange, cause I can feel it come on. It's also happen while playing other puzzle games on my phone. I am starting to think it may be some sort of panic or anxiety attack, but that leaves your outer body completely functionally.
If anyone has had these symptoms and has had a doctor attempt to diagnose them, reply to this. I'd really appreciate it.
Hi I am 19 and have never met anybody else who understood this. When this happens to me , all moving things appear to be fast, my thought and other sounds, tend to appear urgent and almost angry.... I still don't know why this is, but I am glad somebody else feels it too. and also it changes to the opposite as well, in the midst of this feeling sometimes even though things feel fast and urgent they feel slow ? i dont know if that makes sense? its happening right now, which is why i am writing this, lol i feel like a mad person!
same here guys, now I am 33 years old, when I was young around 15 - 25 years old age, it was frequent like every month.
but now it is once in a year.
Please let me know, If I need to consult doctor or to do anything as a precaution.
I'm 15 and I am having these feelings once every two months or so. Funny enough when I watch TV it slows it down and sort of calms it so when I go outside everything is back down to It's own pace. Weird.
I've had this same feeling when i was young. I am 28 and I just had this today. However it has never affected my ability in any way. I probaby overreacted as a kid, but now I just marvel out of curiosity. It lasts a few minutes. All i can say is it did not affect my learning (I hold a phd) and my memory ( i have vivid memories of the past). Although I must say I have anxiety issues all my life. I've been able to control my anxiety quite well over the last year. It's a combination of Optimal breathing, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy and its worked wonders. So all of you out there, relax and get in charge of things. It's your life and you are your own manager. Happy managing.
wow.... i just now had this same feeling that i also experienced as a kid and i just now for the first time looked it up, i thought i was going crazy. does anyone know if it's serious? or any more idea's on what it could be?
Wow this is so strange. I get this as well. Everything around me is going so fast! I too like yourself got them frequently as a child. I used to get really upset and scared and called it the 'fast thing'. I am now 21 and obviously not scared but just curious. I actually just had one then. So this is why I have turned to the internet. I asked my doctor and she said she wasn't sure but it sounded like a bit of anxiety but I asked my parents if I was an anxious child and they said no not all all It's so strange and so hard to explain to others . :S
I hope not kate :S I have had them for years and nothing serious has ever happened to me. Does anyone get a strange pain in their stomach sometimes when exercising. (NOT a cramp). Its hard to describe but its comes and I have to stop lay on the ground for 2 mins and then it goes away. Such a strange thing. It's not a fitness problem because I would say I am relatively fit. I just wanted to see if anyone else did incase it could be related to 'the fast thing' as I call it
I get the same thing and i know the dream i get, It happens when i'm exhausted and it keeps me up. By chance did any of you had a panic attack/ mental breakdown, I did and the symptoms occurred.
I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one who has experienced this! I thought it was too crazy and that maybe I was making it up-I didnt even know how to remotely explain it. Yet it happened again today, this time while I was using the computer, and thought, as crazy as it is, maybe just maybe if I google it I'll find something. I was psyched when I had only written "sensation that every" when it suggested "sensation that everything is moving too fast" Such a relief to know I'm not alone in this! Anyway I don't think it interferes at all with my life, it only occurs once in a while. And while I don't particularly like the sensation, I'm always fascinated by it as it is so bizarre yet feels so real! In fact I was almost disappointed when it ended today, because I can only really explain what's going on as I'm experiencing it. So strange, just a relief though to know its not just me, nor does it mean there is something necessarily wrong with me. I'd be fascinated to know the cause.
In so glad im not the only person that had this feeling. My mother and I both had this as well as my grandfather. I would have this feeling several times a year until I was 25. In 41 now and I dont miss it at all!! My mom tried to explain it to our family doctor and he looked at us like we were crazy. Can someone tell me what this is?? Everything would feel like it was going very fast, sounds are very loud. My fingers and tongue would feel gigantic. It was terrifying as a child. It happened to me in third grade and I ran to the bathroom until it stopped. I hope my child dont have them. She is four years old now.
