Well it has been a few months now and i've tried about 6 different types of birth control pills (Seasonique seemed to be the WORST). I am on Femcon, supposedly a high hormone dosage, chewable mint birth control tablets, for 2 months my periods have lasted under 10 days. Since I was 12 I have always had problems, i thought it was normal back then. Well since my last post I've been to the ER quite a few times, i've had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, laparoscopy, ultrasounds galore... they found nothing. Blood is absolutely normal which is weird for bleeding out for multiple months. There was one doctor, whom I didn't even know and wasn't assigned to my floor apparently, came up to me (I was hospitalized for a few days because of the pain) and mentioned Endometriosis. I had explained to him that i've had a Laparoscopy (an operation to explore the reproductive organs from the outside, they go through your belly button with a scope) and there were no signs of Endometriosis but I did however have a fibroid tumor on the left side of my uterus (5 exterior and interior ultrasounds missed that one). He explained to me that no matter how many endium cells that are extra in your body, whether or not it's visible, you can have Endometriosis and he banked his word on that. I have all the symptoms of this menstral disease but you literally can't see it, at least not on my reproductive area. He said it takes only ONE CELL to cause Endometriosis. So, if you look it up and you have every single symptom, chances are you have it. He said something like 2 out of 3 women in the world have this disease and it goes undetected but it's very painful and there is no "cure", only having a hysterectamy performed (which i don't want, im only 22).

Since I was 16 my period got worse, I got bigger, the doctors blamed my weight, "The solution to your problems is getting exercise, lose the weight and you'll be fine" is what I was told by a few doctors. Your weight has nothing to do with this disease occuring, it just makes it that much harder for you to feel good. Thus far, i still get labor pains inbetween my periods, the best way to describe it (because i've never given birth) is having a very sharp fish hook attatched to your uterus and someone is pulling in the line every so often and it hurts my back, it hurts the inside of my entire vagina, every muscle and sometimes I can't walk. That's what my cramps always were, that's what i thought was normal. Well it's not and this is very serious, I hope the women out there who have similar issues, please get yourself checked out. There are high possibilities that this disease will cause fibroid tumors also, mine will grow back I was told. I have county insurance because i'm unable to work, look in your local city/state for some help, it's there you just have to know where to look. God bless you ladies, I hope you all feel better soon. Don't get discouraged by the weight either, darn birth control pills!

Sorry for another post, I forgot to mention... Planned Parenthood... free. They started helping me out with free birth control specified for abnormal bleeding rather than just the generic for unsafe sex. One doctor told me to check out a clinic (also free), most of the time they will have someone there from Social Services or something to offer you free insurance if you don't have a job, no/low income, a student, whatever your situation is. All you need to do is a little research, maybe wait a few hours to be seen by a clinic doctor but it's worth it if you can push them around and get answers. Don't allow yourself to suffer as many women have already, don't let them say it's nothing or it's just your weight, that's BULL! Hormones almost control us, if that's out of whack then we're sunk! Another thing is, I know it sounds corny, but Chiropractic help. I've worked at a Chiroprator's office before, luckily working there got me free adjustments. Within a few months I was feeling better (not cured). My state of mind was better, the blood clots came less, cramps were still horrible but overall it did help and that's when I wasn't on birth control pills. Just my 2 cents.

I have been bleeding for 102+ plus days. When it was only 60 days I went to the er. They told me if it got worse to come back but i needed to see a specialist. I have no insurance therefore I am cursed in the medical world. It got worse so I went back and they put me on orthotricyclin, I took it for 1 month and nothing. So I had already set up a family planning appt at the health dept so that at least I could get more birth control maybe it would stop it. I went to the health dept and they gave me the depo shot but told me I would need to see a specialist. At this point I am in lotsa pain and very very weak. the shot just made it worse.

One morning I woke up in so much pain that I could not walk. I rolled outta bed and onto the floor and to the bath room. I managed to get into the tub and I just sat there and cried. All of the doctors that I had seen kept saying that I would end up getting a hysterectomy which is exactly what every 21 year old without children wants to hear. So I snapped and called a specialist in another town. At this point I am in tears and still in my bath tub. They agreed to see me the next day.

At this point it was my 4th pelvic in one month so I was miserable they ended up having to give me a shot for pain. The doctor looked at me and said that she thought I had polycystic ovarian syndrome and there was a test she could do but I didn't have insurance and it was expensive So i spent my entire pay check that week at the doctors office and she put me on yaz which has kinda slowed it down but im still in pain. I am miserable. She said there was a medicine that she can give me to help so I am hoping that tomorrow she will fix this but after 3+ months I am about ready to beat my head over a rock. I had these weird clots so I asked her what they were and she was like " Oh, those are tiny piece of your uterine wall.) DON'T I NEED THAT? By all rights i need a D and C but no insurance leads you to this point.

It irks me that I do work but there really isn't any help for single people that work and don't have children. I went through this before and ended up getting a blood transfusion so really watch these things because you can die. I was in shock by the time i got to the er all because some rookie doctor put me on the patch before he ever looked at me. No test or anything. Maybe all of this could have been avoided if they had actually tried to find the reason I was bleeding and not just make it stop.

im 20 years old, and have been bleeding for 17 days now and still counting, i can see no end in sight its bright red and quite heavy i can feel it passing through me it gets so bad it messes up my clothes, bed sheets etc. Im sexually active and have been for 3 years with the same person, we don't use protection or any kind of birth control as we are trying for a baby and have been for the last 2 years with no luck whatsoever. My periods were always like clockwork until i became sexually active 17 then they became irregular, but the last 3 months they seemed to be gettin regular again now this month i was 3 days early and it hasn't stopped yet! is there something wrong with me? im terrified i am having no pain at all nor tiredness just heavy bleeding continuously i haven't told my family about it yet and my partner said we should keep an eye on it. i am however very irritable and moody and depressed at times does this have any thing to do with it? please help!

When mine first started I wasnt this tired or moody but after almost 4 months I am an emotional train wreck and people have told me that they can tell a difference in the way I normally was and how I have been in the last few months. If it's not right get checked out before it gets out of hand. I really dont think mine would be so bad if I had actually got help when I realized it wasnt right.

I'm 17 years old and havent had a normal period since I was 13 years old. I went years without one until September last year and I was put on birth control. I'm sexualy active and have been since I was 15 but always use protection but its been about a month since the last time I had sex and its been about 2 weeks that I've been bleeding. It started out regular because I was spotting then lightened out but now I'm bleeding heavy and going through at least 3 super tampons a day. I havent had any dramatic events happen lately in my life (not sure if that would do anything but must put that in) and also I had a postive pregnancy test back in December '08 but Febuary '09 was told that the baby didnt have a heart beat and that my body was already decomposing it. Would that have to do with anything?

Well, when I decided it was time to see the gyn. I was 19 and had been bleeding for two and a half years. There were some breaks in between the bleeding during the first couple of years, but in the last six months, there were no breaks. In the last month, I was going through at least five super plus tampons in an hour. Yea, it was BAD! Thankfully, my mom has insurance so I was able to see a specialist immediately when I began to feel faint. The doctor told me that if I would have come in two days later, he would have been bringing me to the ER for blood transfusions. Also, my BP was that of an 80 year old. He sent me home with a huge box of iron tablets and a progesterone (? I think) pill which stopped the bleeding completely after about a week. In the following month he performed a trans vaginal ultrasound as well as a procedure known as Hysterocopy where they insert a tiny camera into your cervix (not fun!). In the end, they told me that I have lots of cysts on my ovaries which are screwing up my hormones. I'm now on birth control pills which are taking care of the bleeding.

So I had this problema few years ago when I was about 22. I had heavy to moderate bleeding for about a month or two before I finally went to the doctors. They said I had unterine dysfunction syndrome, and put me on birth control. Tried a couple of other hormone things, like a seven day dose that was suppossed to "reset" my body. didn't work and doc finally put me on a low dose of birth control. It's nice to know other ppl have had the same problem but if you are bleeding for more that two weeks, go see your doctor.

Now im nervous because today is day 7 of my period and its still a heavy flow like i would have to change my pad every 20-30 minutes.

first of all--DOCTORS ARE NOT GODS. Many of these posts indicate that a person went for a test at one hospital or with one dr then stopped or took that doctor's/hospitals word for what is going on.

No one knows your body like you do. I have had very, very heavy periods all of my life with clots and am fine. Some people have a very heavy flow or begin to have one after they have kids or with a large amount of weight gain. On the other hand, some people's flow starts to lighten for those very same reasons. The thing YOU KNOW YOUR OWN BODY so if you think something is going on--don't just see one doctor, see two or three.

For those with no health insurance, you can go to Planned parenthood, their services are normally on a prorated basis and they have routine testing and refferrals.

If you do not get an answer that satisfies you, DO NOT GIVE UP--go to someone else.

for those of you, bleeding heavily who are very tired--of course you are--and you may also be very anemic--again go to a dr or clinic that can test you to find out. Try not to just sit around with crossed fingers--some cancers start out with weird bleeding and could be cured in the very early stages--other things get much worse and complicated if left untreated.

I am the mother of 5 kids--so bleeding in and of itself is not a problem. My normal periods not only were very heavy the first 2 days then lightened to barely anything in the next two days after that--some spotting for 3 more--maybe...then nothing until my 21 days was up--then like clockwork back to the 7 day period. Usually, by the 3rd day, I did not need a pad anymore and by the 4th or 5th, I might have a spot about the size of a quarter--that is all.

The problem is--what is abnormal bleeding when a person is perimenopausal? I had not had a period since last feb--it is almost Sept and now I have one and it is heavy and weird smelling (like amniotic fluid) so what's up with that? I will tell you this--I willl go in for my check up and tests and if necessary, I will go to another dr if I am not satisfied with the answers--sometimes you have to insist on tests.

a lot of docs are no where near as well trained as they should be and miss signs--read up and demand tests if your dr's idea of addressing the problem is a cbc, and white blood count but dismisses the possibilities of other tests for more serious issues.

I am 24 years old. I had a baby in Dec. 2009 and I bled until the end of may 2010. My obgyn thought it might be becuase of the depo shot I had got and put me on birth control pills on top of that. It however did not help. I actually started bleedong worse. I stoped taking them a the end of may and a week later I stopped. I went the whole month of June without bleeding a single drop and then in the middle of July I started bleeding agian. I bled heavy for 2 weeks and then spotted for about a week afterwards. Now I have been bleeding for a week agian but it is so heavy. I am goin through a tampon within an hour. I am having to wear a tampon and a overnight pad and I am still bleeding through. It is bright red at times and other times it is darker. I am so tired of bleeding and have been so miserable. I am already anemic and I think this is draing me even more. I have a 8 month old and a 4 year old and I do not even feel like playing with them. I have no insurance so I can not afford to go to my obgyn now. I went to the hospitsal about it and the doctor there told me pretty much i was having my period an i needed to go to a obgyn..uh no duh!!..lol Does anyone know anything that might help??
