This happened to me when I was 15. I had my period for about 6 weeks straight. I obviously knew it wasnt normal but I was really shy and especially didnt want to talk about it. But then one day I decided I couldnt take this any longer so I told my parents and we went to the doctor the next week. It took them 6 months to figure out what was wrong with me, it turns out that it was my thyroid. Mind you this bleeding would last well over a month stop for if I was lucky 2 weeks and continue on. It sucks go get it checked out asap, unless you enjoy having your period.

mines somewhat similar...Im 20 years old...I started the migraine medication Topamax about 2 to 3 months ago. until then i had had regular periods, timely, just like clock work!!! iv been on birth control for 3 years for a hormone deficiency. my dr said my topamax dosage was low enough that the topamax would not interfere with the hormones in my birth control, thus not affecting my period. but the last 3 months, my period has been either late or early by at least 2 or more days, has been more than my usual 7 days long (currently going on a 10 day streak right now) and has even started for a day or so, stopped and then started again.... WHAT THE HELL?!?!? im freaking out. anyone going through something similar? im sick of it and definitly called my dr... but they, of course, are closed today, so all i can do is sit and wait. i spoke with a physician's assistant who is a good friend of mine and he even said it should be the topamax...i dont know what the heck.. im even slightly cramping... :/

thank you :-)

I've had my period since October 2010...going on SIX MONTHS now...I'm seventeen and a virgin and overweight...I'm terrified of going to a gynecologist, nobody has seen anything "down there" since I was in diapers. I'm absolutely terrified to find out what is causing it because my parents are gonna be paying a lot for college next year and if it something serious, I don't think we can afford it. If anyone out there prays, please pray for me...I'm so scared.

I have been having similar issues - I've been to the doc about 3 times in the last few months because I've been getting my period every 2ish weeks. My implanon bc was due to be replaced so I had that done 2 months ago and thought that it would help my problem. Im going to the doctor tomorrow because I have been on my period for 2 weeks now and it is not showing any signs of stopping - the blood is bright red and very thin. It's gotton to the point where I have been with my boyfriend and ended up crying because I dont know what is wrong and it is scary. He's been very good in dealing with it but doesn't quite understand how scary it is when you know that something is wrong with you but don't know what it is or why it is happening. Hopefully I will get some sort of answer tomorrow when I go to the doctor and things will go back to normal.

Hi, I wanted to add my story to yours.  I went online looking for help because I currently am having a period that has lasted two weeks, this has never before happened.  I was diagnosed with a couple dozen uterine fibroids a few years back.  Havent really had period issues until this year when my periods seem to be getting progressively longer and it is horrendous.  My last one was about 11 days and now this one is showing no sign of stopping after 14 days.  I am almost 49 and I am sure its due to my age as well as the fibroids.  As with many Ive seen here, I cant go to the doctor right now either as I just started a new job, dont have insurance started up at that job yet, and my old job's insurance ended on June 1.  I wish there were doctors or nurses that came on here to give some sort of encouragement.  Its absolutely awful.  But I feel slightly better reading all these stories to see how many women this is actually occurring with.  I have tried different herbal remedies and nothing doing much good yet as far as that goes.  If it doesnt end soon I will probably have to go to doctor and get on birth control or something as well.  Any helpful suggestions are much appreciated.

I am 23 years old. I started my period when I was 13. It was extremely heavy and the cramping was insane.  Sometimes my periods would last a few weeks, other times I would go months without one.  I got married in 2008, and I noticed that after I became sexually active, my periods and cramps got worse.  I was put on birth control when  I was 13, and stopped taking it when I got married so that we could try to conceive.  I have gone up to 8 months without a period and have gone 6 months on a very heavy period.  I have spent most of my life in the ER for this problem, and the doctors all look at me like a junkie because I have to come so often.  My cramping has gotten to the point that I throw up and pass out, and I cramp throughout my entire period (usually lasting months at a time.)  I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis.  Both of which run in my family.  I have been trying to have a baby for the last 4 years, with no luck.  When I talked to the doctor, they said that they could not regulate my periods if I was trying to conceive and as long as my periods were not regulated, conceiving would be impossible.  Sounds like a lose lose to me.  I did have an abnormal pap smear and they found pre-cancerous cells in my cervix.  I am willing to deal with the periods and cramps and whatever else may come in order to start a family with my husband.  Please somebody let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do.  I feel like I am letting my husband down because everytime we take a pregnancy test, his expression breaks my heart when it comes back negative.  HELP ME PLEASE

a month and a half ago like 2 months after my period i started spotting a little bit of light pinkish and sometimes light orangish blood and it kept going on for a while then one day a gush of blood came out really fast and i was like ok i guess i started my period because i was waiting for it to pick up regularly because it was time for my period but after that it went back to just spotting every now and then again and then now i have been bleeding heavily for 2 weeks and it hasnt slacked off at all and i am so scared idk what is going on im going to try to go to the er i guess because i have no health insurance and i cant pay for them to run test and do ultrasounds and stuff also i have been having really bad stomach cramps and my back has been hurting and i have been really tired and sometimes i dont feel like doing anything
