I've suffered with this for over 20 years, and I'm thinking I may have really strained or possibly torn the muscles in the stomach/chest area doing heavy yard work initially. But it has never gone away, and doctors won't even try to make a stab at what it could be. I've had heart tests with normal results, and I probably have a hiatal hernia, but I'm beginning to think that I bring the spasms on when I don't stick with very small meals, because right after breakfast the spasms start and can sometimes go on most of the day. Not continuously...but off and on. Also,I'd advise folks to be careful with the magnesium dosage....I was taking 400 to 500 mg per day over a number of weeks, and almost wound up with diarrhea and the inability to keep food on my stomach long enough to digest it well.

I'm really grateful for all the posts....I was beginning to think I was neurotic or something.

I have this also. I've been diagnosed with anxiety disorder. This started today. It is located below my left rib. And migratess to the middle of the stomach. It doesn't hurt but really bothers me to the point of having a panic attack. I am a 24 year old male.

I'm commenting here because I looked at this topic a few days ago when it started happening to me.

Do not worry if there is no pain. I only experienced this for 3 days. I felt my lower abs, particularly the right side, twitching on and off. I thoroughly stretched my entire body, drank a lot of water, and continued to exercise as I normally do, through my lifting routine. I am fairly certain stretching helped a lot.

OH MY GOSH! This is EXACTLY what's happening to me! EXACTLY! Mines in the same spot and feels like a baby kicking. I even took a pregnancy test thinking maybe I've had back labor this whole time or something. It's weird. I don't like it.

Ha, interesting so many people have the same symptoms! I have a muscle spasm right now over my bottom rib, left side of my 'upper abs'. I can feel it's not my stomach or a digestive issue because I know what that feels like, it's definitely the muscle spasming. I have heard muscle cramps and spasms can be a sign of magnesium deficiency, which is very common these days. I bet it has to do with our nervous systems too. I have a lot of stress and anxiety. My whole life I've also got spasms sometimes in my eyes or limbs. I have also had some problems with my heart tightening up with chest pain throughout my life, and one incidence of pericarditis.... I think what happens with stress and anxiety is our nervous system gets overcharged and the excess buildup of energy in us fizzles out in spasms.

Thankyou so much.. my stomach twitch kicking sensation started yesterday. I suffer with Health anxiety and at present under the most amount of stress I have ever experienced.. I was a total mess this morning as I thought I was suffering from an aortic aneurysm and that was the end of me. I went to docs.. aniexty and stress and she's put me on tablets so I can sleep better. I don't eat well as when I'm stressed I stop feeling Hungry, I haven't been taking vitamins. All of the above rings true. I've had diazepam today to reduce the freak out! This forum has worked better than the diazepam... thankyou
