did you ever find out the cause?
Like I have already read on prior post regarding this weird movement under the right ribs, upper abdomen, it has to be intestinal parasites. Many won't believe that this can cause this feeling but it really could be the root of the problem. Since I don't live on a farm or in a third world country I didn't think I could pick up a parasite. I live in Dallas, Texas. I went to my homeopathic doctor and he said I had a parasite. Well I didn't believe him. Months later I went to my general doctor for a check up (I haven't been in a few years.) I mentioned to him that I had parasites and he started to question me. HE asked if I had ever seen them in my stool and etc. I haven't and doubted myself. Wouldn't you know, a few weeks later after taking a 3 times daily dose of wormwood, I saw the parasites (or I like to use worms.) Months went by and got better and worse and I am finally getting my stool samples sent to a lab so I can take medication to kill these suckers (and to find out the type I have.) I understand that most people here won't believe me but please give this a thought. Even if you live in the city you can pick them up, many general doctors don't consider parasites as for your troubles. Sadly, sometimes they are. If not hope you NEVER get them. Just educate yourself in case.
Warnings:
(1) There are a lot of quacks/new age-y people saying everyone has parasites...I doubt EVERYONE has them. But more common then your first grade teacher lets on.
(2) Sending stool samples to a lab doesn't always prove that you have parasites. Some parasite live in the upper small intestines. I notice the movement happens for me later at night. That could possibly be due to me being still in bed and I notice the movement and/or I read that parasite are more active at night. Don't ask me how they know it's night, you sleeping or resting is very different than you walking or eating.
Sorry for the late night rant. 1 a.m. here and I don't want to bother with reading over the paragraph above. I hope there isn't any fatal errors that changes the meanings to anything. Email me any questions, maybe this could help out at least one person.

Had all the same symptoms, increased abdomen size, movement, missed period,etc. Finally after being convinced that I was pregnant went for bloodtests and an ultrasound. I have a 30+lb ovarian cyst. Don't wait, go get checked.
Just had a ultrasound done on this same thing, its tapeworm, go get checked!!!
I have been having the same thing. Just started last night. Took two pregnancy tests and they were both negative. HELP!
You are not alone bob...am a 59 y.o. guy suddenly experiencing what feels like an alien presence in my upper ab area. Not painful but weird to the point I can watch the rolling on my belly. I started taking some new meds for blood thinning lately and wonder if there may be a conx there...I need to watch what I eat as well...if you have something in the left ribs I would talk to your doctor...that is where your heart is.
On another discussion about this same topic, rolling feeling in upper abdomen, two diagnoses were reported. One lady had an ovarian cyst and several reported various parasites including tape worm. Gross. I am a 59 year old guy and have been experiencing this for about two months. I think I will go see doc next week.
I've been having the same issues on my left side directly under my rib. It feels like a baby kicking and I can actually see it move! I'm not pregnant either. I was surprised to see that other people are having the same problem. I'm thinking about going to the doctor about it but I just don't really know how to explain it. If anyone has any other information about it it wod be very helpful.
I am 60 year old male with the identical symptoms of a rolling sensation that comes and goes; some days really a lot and other days I do not notice it. It reminds me of watching our baby's foot moving around inside my wife's abdomen. I can actually watch the bubble as it moves around. I have cardiac problems but this is not the same kind of thing. There is no pain. It just feels like there is something creeping around in my gut. My experience, as I call it, is on my left upper abdomen. I keep forgetting to talk to my PCP because it does not hurt but I will try to ask. I am wondering if it is digestion taking place or movement in the small intestine:-P
I just started feeling this gurgling and searches it and found this website. I have noticed weight gain lately in my abdominal area and I do not think I'm pregnant. But I am laying down ready to sleep and I feel this weird sensation. Kind of like a baby kicking or trying to pass gas but it's not happening. I am going to the doctor and will deffinitley repost when I find some answers.

Wow....... so here I come online searching for what on earth is going on with my stomach and nothing, nothing, nothing, then BAM, this page full of a ton of other people experiencing what seems to be the exact same thing - but no diagnoses?? Yikes! I don't know what the heck it is, but it's at the top of my abdomen, right side just under my ribs. Feels just like when I was preg and my boys would slide their feet back and forth right there. But I'm definitely not preggo - it's not gas, it's not painful at all in any way, but it's annoying and kind of scary because I don't know what it is. A week of it now.... Odd. If anyone has any answers, please update!!
I have bben experiencing the exact same thing. bubble like effect at top of the stomach. Went to doctor and she did a full work-yo on me with a CTScan. They found no cancer, no parasites, etc. She suggested I go to my gastroenologist. I called and set up appointment,bu could not get in until October 24, 2012. When I talked to the nurse on the phone she thought it might be reflux disease. I will let you know when I find out. Something is going on if quite a few of us have this. A tapeworm would suggest that you are losing weight and that has not happened.
PARASITES! WORMS! Saw it on Dr. Oz. Go to your doctor for meds.
