It's amazing how much comfort I found in all of your words,,,I have been on subs for 2 years tried to quit a few times but in my personal experience detoxing off subs is worse than any drug and I have done them all, so here's my situation went off subs at a quarter of a 2 ml gram pill and it felt like hell I was amazed that it dpfelt the same as when I tried to quit at 2ml full, so I started taking vicodine I don't feel high at all from 3 low dose vic's at a time, I take them every 5 hours and I'm ok, but if I don't take them right on time my body goes threw hell. I'm not interested in getting high anymore, I really am not, I have been fighting the dope sickness for 2 years and just want it to stop, without the subs it was like this if I even missed a dose, it just never quits ,,,so I decided of this plan, I figure kicking a small vicodine dose is like cake compared to subs, I hope that anyone who reads this posts there story, when your up at three am searching for comfort and truth with your pain ,,,please share, these posts are all that get me through it,!!!!! ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed **

I wish I could reach through this computer and strangle half the people one this site giving false information. I was taking oxy for about 2 years recreational. Up to about 300 mg a day. There were days I would wake up and almost think I was dying. Puking my brains out, diarrhea, the worst shakes in the world etc. Now to listen to people say that suboxone is worse!! WOW you ate retarded. I went on suboxone for a year after that until one day my wife found out and I had tk quit cold turkey. Yup it sucked but really, it was a vacation compared to oxy. No I couldn't sleep and I was cold and tired and had anxiety. But diarrhea wasn't as bad.. Never once did I puke. I had 4 days off from work and day 3 was the worst. Day 5 I was back to work. I'm a chef... I was online Sauteing for a busy restaurant. Damn I was tired but I was able to work and do what needed to be done. Worst thing about it is the lack of sleep and lethargy lasted about 20 days. That being said, I would not been able to do anything if I quit oxy cold turkey. Do wake up people. Grow a pair. Mind over matter.IT WILL PASS. We are humans. Our bodies heal over time. Just let it. Christ day 3 was my worst day and I helped my wife wash the car and went for a walk. Didn't want to but she forced me. Keeping you mind off it is key. Listening to music. Just do something... Anything. And believe in yourself. Quitters are weak. Don't be a quitter. You'll be much happier when you don't have to search all the time.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make. The sub is harder than vic withdrawal. Not implying that either is easy! Geez.

Hi Guys, glad to have found this site. My story is very interesting and I sure hope someone can relate. Got introduced to sub 3 years ago b/c addiction to any painkillers I could get my hands on, eventually got into some legal trouble with that. Doctor put me on 2mg sub 2x/day. Of course I believed it was a miracle drug, that doctor left town so I saw a new doctor who put me on 32mg/day of sub. 8mg/4xdaily which is ALOT of sub. Of course I misused and took too much.  What is interesting is that I just read somewhere about the ceiling effect and one theory that if you overload on sub that you wont have any w/d symptoms.

About a month ago I took too many and  Honest to god, I didnt have any w/d.  Of course at the time I didnt want to quit I just happend to be out of meds at the time, I had no idea about that theory, because I didnt want to quit at the time so wasnt searching for answers ...so when I could went and got my regular refill.  Now, I want off the subs, finally,  and searching for a way to make that happen.  Taking too much is definitely not reccommended and I read that it was done with a doctors supervision.  I came here interested in the vicodin theory, but had I only wanted to quit at the time when I had done that. Im just out of sub now completely and came here looking to see if there was any way to relieve w/d.  Just in case you're wondering that theory of taking more than recommended can be found by doing a search for "easing the withdrawl of suboxone" in google..  good luck to all of you looking to quit. Wish me luck too! -Kel

I am trying to take vike's right now to get off that garbage suboxone, i just couldnt take the pain in my knees anymore and the restlessness (never being able to get comftorable). Thats the 2 things that makes it unbareable for me. But be real careful i wouldnt take them for more than 2 weeks or u gonna wind up hooked on those! And i dont know about you but im tired of being dependent on some drug to get me through life! I dont wanna have to depend on no one but myself! So i hope the trick works for everyone and they can leave all them garbae's alone forever. God Bless& Pray  To him Constatly in your mind helps a bunch too!      Keep the faith theres better days ahead! :-) Take alieve too!

I thought I would post my experience with Vicodin and Suboxone. I had two very badly infected teeth and in the process getting one pulled and hopefully a root canal on the other one if I can manage to afford it. I have been on 2-4mg of subs a day for about a year now, and because of the intense tooth pain I decided to wait about 20 hours after taking my last sub to take the Vicodin for my tooth pain, everything seemed to be fine at first I actually even felt like I may have been getting a little high off it(unintentionally) I have a super high metabolism so drugs seem to run through my system very fast. The Vicodin seemed to wear off about 4-5hours after it began to work and I started feeling immediate discomfort from not taking my subs, although I was able to go 2 days without my suboxone, taking Ibuprofen and Vicodin on the night of the second day I felt intense withdrawals so intense they seemed worse than when I got off of heroin even though I was taking Vicodin! I waited till 7am (about 7 hours after I took the last Vicodin) and I caved and decided to risk taking my subs again. It fixed my withdrawals I still have terrible tooth pain, but I'm not sure whats worse? Major tooth pain or Suboxone withdrawals.

I'm guessing it's because of my high metabolism that this situation feels so different from what I've read online. But my experience with the time line for Vics and Subs is:
Subs start feeling discomfort 6-12hours
Vicodin start feeling full suboxone w/d in 2-4hours(max)
I'm just putting this out here for anyone else with a very high metabolism because it seems like the span of these drugs is drastically decreased, which means much faster on-set for w/ds but hopefully a much faster recovery. Really hope that I'll make it to that some day, really want to get back to feeling like I did when I was 17 :(

I completely agree!. I am on day 19 of no more subs. I was on subs for 1.5 years. I tapered down to 1.5mg per day. The first ten days were tough. I used a few xanax, coladipin, and weed to dull the daytime symptoms and that would help me sleep...mixing up what I used as to not develop any dependency. I would also take a vic here and there which helped soo much...when i would take one I would feel perfectly fine, normal feeling (like i never quit the subs). Like it was said above though you must have discipline. From day 10 on the daytime symptoms decreased to chills (feeling always cold when on nothing), anxiety, mild depression. and not being able to sleep AT ALL. After dealing with that for two days I started to take low mg of perks or vicodin taking 5-10mg 1-3 times a day.  It takes away all symptoms and you can sleep at night (weed helps).  As your symptoms calm over the next week you can decrease to taking one pill in the morning to have a nice day and one at night so you may fall asleep.  I feel like in another 10 days (day 30) I will feel normal during the day and may just need ambien or natural sleep aids for the next month or so. Cold turkey off subs is too hard and too long. Anyone who has tossed and turned while sweating night after night knows what I'm talking about. And even if you've only done it for a night, imagine what it would be like doing that for a month! only sleeping 0-2hrs at a time for a month...IT WILL DRIVE YOU MAD! Tell me if I'm wrong, but after taking low dosages of pks and vics after surgeries in the past I never got w/d symptoms. so I can't imagine a couple weeks of vics; mixing in xanax, clodipin, weed and ambien as to not take vics multiple days in a row; will give any withdrawals.
Most importantly I think you have to know why your quitting and be determined. Sure I could have stayed on subs forever, but I wanted to be free of any drug and not have any dependency. I wanted it so bad I was willing to go through a month of hell! That's how i know i can use those other drugs through this process without becoming addicted. I set a goal, did research, and planned. I want to be clean and back to my normal self more than anything. So on day 32 when I wake up and it's 2 days off everything and I feel o.k and get some sleep that night YOU BETTER BELIEVE I WON'T TAKE A PILL AGAIN.  Although taking a multi-vitamin and fish oil does help SO MUCH in helping your body get back to normal.
Although I do read sleeping the following month is tough I'm sure it's nothing a lil weed or drink can't fix before bed. Thank you for reading my rambling I tried being as thorough as possible. THIS IS NOT EASY AND ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE DONE IT KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE. BE STRONG AND YOU CAN MAKE IT THROUGH! MAKE SURE YOU WANT IT BAD! HAVE THE RIGHT STEPS IN PLACE. Remember, everyone is different....This is just what worked for me.

ALSO, at Walgreens you can buy LEG CRAMPS, it's supposed to help with restless leg syndrom (WHICH IS WHY YOU CAN'T SLEEP).  It won't really do much while your symptoms are severe, but after day 10 it helps a lot in falling asleep! Give it a try it is cheap and effective.  If I can be of help to anyone you can message on this board and I will check every day or so for next couple weeks. Good luck, God bless!

Hi, I'm on day 6 of suboxne withdrawl, this is the third time doing this. What made it easier this time is that I took some percs to ease the withdrawl, and only had one bad day because I didn't have enough percs to get me to the end of withdrawl. So, in my experience the percs do help, but you need to be carefull not to continue taking them. I have done a lot of research on suboxone and found that it should be used as a short term drug, making it easier to get off it... I believe these doctors that prescribe it dont know enough about it, my doctor told me at 2mg I would be able to get off with no withdrawl, boy was he wrong. I ended up in the hospital, with a concusion, splet my eye open and was really dehydrated. This time I did my way, which I don't think any doctor would allow using other opiates to help with withdrawl. But it does help, and a glass of wine is ok too. Finally I am off the DEVIL PILL and hope that these doctors become a little more educated about prescribing it and also helping patients gey off it. My doctor left me high and dry because I didn't have any insurance anymore, this is why I got off it, I couldnt afford it anymore... So good luck to everyone, try to get off it asap, the sooner the better you will be...

I totally agree with you! I've heard nothing but BAD things about coming down off of suboxin. Granted I got myseld into this mess, but I never thought my WD's would be so severe and continuous for going one 2 weeks!

I have been using opiates for ten plus years. I was up to 240 mg of oxycontin or 25-30 bags of heroin a day. I tried subs for about 9 months and when I tried to taper down I was sick for about a month, and I mean extremely sick. I dont think using low end pain killers wil help because you will build a tlerance before you get through the withdrawal symtoms from the subs and be right back where you started. My suggestion is take as long as you can off of work and load up on immodium ad, multi vitamins, benadryl, tylenol, and some benzodiazapenes to sleep. You are in for a rough atleast two to three wks, but as soon as you can sleep again you will start to feel better.

it helps after day 5-6 or so because it will clean the remaining suboxone off ur receptors. Only need very mild opiate tho. vicodin, then just stop after taking the 1 and u will feel better the next morning u will wake up a normal, unaddicted person. Have done this 2 times

I have been on suboxone for about 6 years. There was a relapse 4 years ago but since then been good and only taking suboxone. My dr stays I can stay on it indefinitely. Well I really don't want that so I'm gonna try to Vic to help the sub WD. My only concern is its been years and my brain is sooooooo used to suboxone I feel like the WD will take a long ass time. Suboxone is great for a month long supervised detox, it should never be a maintained dose. If I had known I was trading one addiction for another I wouldn't have stayed on sub long term. Sub WD are pretty bad. At about the 24 hour mark I get the chills and restlessness. Then no sleep, the rls,... I've WD'd off heroin and although sub and heroin WD are different I think suboxone is worse depending on how long you've taken it. I recommend anyone who is going to take suboxone use it for a month max, get over the WD of whatever opiate your taking then ween off the sub. Don't get on a maintenance dose!!

Hello all, I'm 29 year old fairly intelligent white male who started using oxys about four years ago and for the past two years have tried literally every single combination of drugs and taper plans to try and get off of opiates.  About two years into my addiction was the first time I really tried to quit, I just toughed it out and went cold turkey off of about 200 mg's of oxy a day. The wd's from that lasted about a week and even though those 7 days were absolute hell, I took some oxy about 3 weeks later and after that went right back into full swing.  Later I tried getting a few subs and started out at 8mg a day, then 6 the next day then like 4mg the next day, then 1 to 2 mg's a day for another week and stopped. Each time I tried this method (maybe 3 or 4) I'd be fine for a day or two and then weeks of withdrawal, although slightly milder than pure oxy WD, I considered it worse because they lasted for so mfing long.
So basically after getting frustrated went back to oxys and on the next go round I stayed on subs for about two months and tried to use small amounts of percs to get me through the WD's. My self control wasn't there, once I got that amazing warm relief that the percs provided, it didn't take long for me to give up on that as well. Long story short went to a sub doctor about a year ago but being an extremely impatient person I got frustrated that I was still taking some sort of opiate everyday but it seemed like it didn't make sense since I wasn't getting high off them. I lasted on the subs for about 3 months. After all of this I am and have been so sick of this horrible pathetic lifestyle. It truly is enslavement and you never really can comprehend the torment of these drugs unless you've had to go through this.
This time I've been on subs for about two months, about 1 mg twice a day. I've decided to cut down to .5 mgs for a week, then .5 every other day for 2 weeks. At this point my mind set is a lot different than it has been in the past, going through all of this and the terribly damaging ripple effects I don't really ever fiend to get high, it's simply about taking something for physical purposes and to be able to function throughout the day.
After becoming an expert on the subject, I have figured out my plan to finally get completely off of opiates and I know for a fact that this is by far the best way to get off of them for good:

-Taper down as much as you can from the subs (.5mg every day or every other day)

-Get some Vicodin (about 20-30 5 mg pills - if you really cant find them you can always go to a hospital fake an injury and they'll probably give you a script for about 20)

-Find some benzos (klonopin or ativan work the best for me - if you can't find these you can always go to a doctor, be honest and tell them you are trying desperately to quit opiates and they'll probably write you a short term script for those)

-Find some weed, even if you don't normally smoke it, to me it is an amazing help when WDing

-If you can plan for about 5 days or as much as you possibly can of vacation time for when you stop taking the Vics

After gathering all of your tools, stop taking the subs, throw any extras away, and as soon as you start WDing pop a Vic. I would suggest giving all of them to a trusted person if you can to dole them out to you because there is a strong possibility that if you are left with them you will take them a whole lot faster than planned. Stay on the Vics for about two weeks, again taking as absolutely little as possible.
In my estimation, once you have been off the subs for about two or three weeks and are finished with the Vics, you will feel very mild WD symptoms (depending on how many mg of vicodin that you took but it still wont be anything compared to the sub or oxy withdrawal).  These symptoms are helped tremendously by the benzos, weed, long hot showers, eating three meals a day and any exercise you can push yourself to do. I would smoke as much as possible for the next week or so while taking benzos when needed for about the same amount of time. After about 5 days though, you should be starting to feel a hell of a lot better.
As I'm sure you know, benzos can be extremely addicting to some people but being on them for a week or two definitely will not be a problem. As soon as you are finished WDing however I would toss them. After this you should be home free and lets face it, if you can accomplish this plan it is a hell of a lot more pleasant than suffering through a month of agonizing suboxone withdrawal or a week or two of even more painful dope or oxy withdrawal. Good luck.

Your story is awesome I'm on Day 2 of no subs so about 60 hours in and it's not that bad. I was sceptical because I went cold turkey on methadone and that was the worst experience in my life. I have been taking about 3 Vic's a day to stop the withdrawl symptoms. I just wanna make sure that it's not gonna prolong the length of the detox? Or make it worse. I'm hoping if I can manage the vicodin use to get me feeling good through detox then stop when I feel I can. Btw I never liked pills only Oxys I could snort cause it would f**k up my stomach. Anyways anyone have any ideas on what I'm going through?
