I know this post is old, but I wanted to share my experience in case someone else was looking for guidance on the issue. My DOC was heroin. Used for 3 years and quit cold turkey. It was hell. Actually, hell is an understatement. It was easily the most painful 7 days of my life! I managed to stay clean for a couple years and then started popping pills unfortunately, mainly Percs. Anyways, I began using subs to come off the pills. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. After 8 months of being enslaved to this little film, I managed to taper down from 4 mg to .25. This was when I planned my jump. I tried skipping days. It was hard. I had an appointment to get a tooth pulled on a skip day. They gave me 16 hydrocodone 5 mg for pain. I decided that I was going to use these to get through my sub withdrawal, and then I would be done! I can honestly say that I suffered ZERO withdrawals! I've now been off suboxone for 3 weeks and the hydros for 1 week. I haven't felt any physical or emotional symptoms of wd. I know this isn't a good route for everyone to take, but it turned out to be a lifesaver for me!!!

You've given me hope. I'm going to taper to .5 sub every other day for 1 week, wait 3 days taking nothing then take minimum percs for roughly 10 days to get me through the worst of the sub withdrawal. Thank you!

Thank you, i know most dont want to reply to posts like this and tell the truth becauese they are afraid we will go and get back on the drug again, when in reality a lot of people get back on because they arr afraid of wd. If i know this information months ago, i would have made the jump. Keep sharing, please tell your story, im on day 4 and maybe i got lucky but im tired all the time but have been able to sleep fine and not much pain at all. At night i take 3 shots of alcohol and restless leg doesnt even affect me. I hear a lot of people dont feel bigger simptoms till later but i went down to .25mg from 25 10mg norcos per day in 8 months. Im glad to have stopped both and dont plan on going back. Goodluck all. And i as well always womdered if i took a norco or half during the worst symptoms if it would start the withdrawls from the beggining so thank you.

I have gone threw withdrawals from Vicodin Percs and oxys Suboxone is by far the worst withdrawals I have ever experienced!!! I was really bad on opiates so I went to an addiction specialist and they put me on Suboxone and kept me on it for 8 years. I moved to California and the addition specialist here almost fell to the floor when I told him how long I was on Suboxone so now I'm trying to taper off and it's been a roller coaster of hell! Who ever made this medication is pure evil it's worse than any opiates on the street!!

Went from years on prescribed lortab,40 mg day on average to a Suboxone Dr. to get off the Hydro. He lied.Never said how strong or hard it is to get off subs.Subs for about a year and now I'm on the taper down to (point).13 mg. skipping days.2 tiny doses left which I may jump now.The taper is online.I have some things that helped to share. Walk as much as possible.Take Hylands Restful Legs at night. Take 5 mg melatonin 20 minutes before sleep.Epsons salt in a hot bath draws that c**p out of u. Detox Tea with dandelion and Burdock.I feel pretty good now. Worst of the taper was from 4 mg down to 1 mg of sub.From.75 to .50 got better. then .25 was a bit too low so I went to .35 for a day then continued taper. Under .25 the half life is so low because of the low blood levels so now if I don't take the .16 mg I really don't notice. The taper is quite long but works. I have read that if wd's come back after jumping with insomnia problems drink alot of water late at night and take 5 mg hydro, norco ect,no more. You'll sleep like dead and feel normal next day.If it happens again in 2 or 3 days same deal but DO NOT do this more than 3 times.I'm a retired Hired Gun musician by the way almost 62 years old and believe u me,I've done it all but Suboxone is The WORST.Poison Blotter.

Do you have credible data to prove opiates won't help ease sub w/d? Just curious because I was a five year h addict and I mean addict. Two bundles a day was just another normal day...anyways six years of being on subs to kick my h habit I finally decided to get clean. The withdrawal from heroin cold turkey is ten times more pleasant then subs. And I'm a mentally strong person. So if someone has an idea that doesn't sound good to you, that's your opinion. Until you show me credible research study of opiates not helping sub w/ds I'll stand firm. Because I am now completely clean. I'm on day 27 with nothing. I used norcos for two weeks. I had maybe a day and a half of withdrawals. I'm now ME again. It depends on the person. Problem is some people don't understand subs are 30x stronger than morphine...they also don't seem to understand that sh*t seeps into your bones your fat your entire body...Vic's don't do that. I'm not saying go ahead and do Vic's to get off subs but IT DID WORK FOR ME. There isn't enough info on subs out there to argue the fact that opiates can't help. Because it just hasn't been studied. And I'm pretty sure you're no scientist yeah? God bless all going through sub w/d but when you're done you'll feel like you're on top of the world.

....and obviously YOU have never been in withdrawal from SUBOXONE! I am a 100% functioning drug addict. Let's see....where do I start, Ummmm.....brought up in a great home. No need for escaping feelings etc. GREAT damn job....college degree, no need for money, blah, blah f*****g blah!
Come to find out at about the age of 9-10, my Dad is an alcoholic. I am not, Thank God! Anyway, I started popping benzos on the regular at 15, shooting OXY by 19, went to Heroin by 21 and then got into shooting it all. D's being my favorite of course...that being said, I have been through ALMOST (excluding METH, CRACK and COKE) every type of detox possible. Not saying, I have not tried it all, I just am not an upper person due to my severe panic/anxiety disorder. f**k! It's all shitty and hard and unbearable; however, the absolute worse I have ever been through is what I am doing at this VERY MOMENT AS I TYPE THIS. Day 5, NO SUBS! However, I did take one norco bc the aches are soooooooo intense. If you have a RX for benzo (XANAX especially), what I HAD to do was take 3-4 at a time bc what normally helps my anxiety attacks, don't touch 'PAWS' or even the W/D's after your Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms....that being said, until you've lived through it all....and I mean ALL, don't tell people how they feel when you obviously don't know how a junkie of 17 years feels like....just saying!

And apparently you have not done the same with long term use of sub or zub! If vicodin withdrawal was that bad. Then donot take either of those. Cause you wouldnt make it or be able to handle it.

I've been on 1mg sub for 10 years for pain management. I've wanted to stop taking it but the wd are so bad. My dr told me I could take it for the rest of my life and be safe. BS! I had gallbladder surgery a week ago and stopped taking sub the day before surgery. I woke up from surgery literally feeling I would die. Took 3 days before I could take norco for pain from surgery. Wd started and I've taken minimum amount of norco to keep pain at bay and help with wd. First 3 days were hell. 4 -6th days were ok bc norco helped during the day but got little to no sleep during this time due to restless legs. So far I'm good during the day, praying the restless leg thing stops soon and I can go on about my life. I would recommend doing this for ppl who are on low dose of sub. It helps sooooo much! I have no desire to take the norco, I don't feel like I've taken a pain pill, I just notice the absence of pain. Drs dont know c**p about sub and they're zero help. I think each persons experience is trial and error. I informed the surgeon, OR nurse, and the anesthesiologist that I took sub prior to surgery and not one of them thought it would be a concern. They were giving me dilauted in recovery and it wasn't touching the pain and didn't for three days later. So.. I've learned that I am stronger than I ever knew bc I literally made it through the first 3 -4 days post op with no medication since the sub was blocking the norco. I've read that the wd symptoms can last a month but I've not had severe anxiety yet , just sleepiness and restless legs at night, and I'm kinda sluggish. I do feel like all my senses are coming back. Suboxone may be good for hard core users but it shouldn't be used for pain management.

I'm on day 3 of a couple (3) cocoon a day. Have the sweats and wake up with rls but so far so good. My plan is after a week go cold turkey.
