I'm amazed that so many people are in this thread.

In the last 6 months or so I've been having off and on soreness in my left testicle.  Mine hang pretty low so I was worried it was the vas deferens getting tangled.

However, after following the posts on this thread it looks like a varicocele.

NOte:  those of you with lumps near your penis/scrotum - get checked out immediately - it's probably a hernia, but there is always the slight chance it is cancer!

This is from Wikipedia, so be sure to take it with a grain of salt:

The idiopathic varicocele occurs when the valves within the veins along the spermatic cord do not work properly. This is essentially the same process as varicose veins, which are common in the legs. This results in backflow of blood into thepampiniform plexus and causes increased pressures, which on rare occasion can lead to permanent damage to the testicular tissue due to disruption of normal supply of oxygenated blood via the testicular artery.

Varicoceles develop slowly and may not have any symptoms. They are most frequently diagnosed when a patient is 15–30 years of age, and rarely develop after the age of 40. They occur in 15-20% of all males.

98% of idiopathic varicoceles occur on the lef

Hi guys, I am too suffering with this, I went to A&E last week after getting mixed signals from local gps. They diagnosed it as right testicular torsion and I had it operated on (scrotal exploration and bilateral orchidopexy 3 point fixation), 7 days later and the swelling from the op has nearly all gone, but as that heals the more the old pain and discomfort comes back. Has anyone had any luck with their situation? I've read this thread from start and it sounds like we all have the same issue. I don't want to live with this much longer it's ruining my life!

I had all the same symptoms on my right side for 18 months. Had the antibiotics, ultra sounds, even a CT and mri When it got bad enough I went to the ER. They looked for hernias, colon cancer, prostate issues, testicular torsion and Appendix. Nothing found. Pretty much gave up on it Figuring I had to live with it. two weeks ago I went in for a vasectomy, the urologist did the left side no problem. Then on the right side he had issues getting hold of the vas. Took him 30 minutes on the right compared to the 5 minutes on the left. He told me the vas on the right was pulled very tight. The next morning, for the first time in 18 months, I had no pain in my testicle and lower right hand abdomen. Have not had any pain since. Going back to my gp on Monday to see if this scenario Gives us a clue to what underlying cause could be (if any). I had no idea how much this was dragging me down. I literally feel like I'm bouncing around when I walk.

Replying as a guest. I have read lots and lots about this subject. I have had these symptoms for the past past 17 years mainly since i hit puberty. I was told to keep a diary of events and episodes of pain. I find it can occur after sex and after vigorous exercise mainly, but sometimes just for no apparent reason. I have been to the doctors and hospital for more tests than a rocket ship, and still nothing. The only thing was about 10 years ago I had epididimitus and have antibiotics to clear it. I have always been sti/std clear that is the first thing they though of. I once had a long six month course of antibiotics as they thought a long standing infection that kept flaring up but no infection was ever found. After years of tests and scans the doctors told me it maybe something that I have to deal with the pain, I wasn't happy but they said it is nothing serious as I would have developed further. I find I can feel the pain coming on over a few hours and if I take enough anti inflammatory pain killers it can ease the pain away. But sometimes there is nothing I can do and it's a killer. I've had days off work and after a bad episode it can hurt for a few days even after the main pain has eased off. i can't believe the number of men with his problem and nothing gets done. I'm sure the actor Hugh Grant has this problem too his mentioned something on top gear tv show that he calls golf ball syndrome as he used to get it when he drove his vw golf car. my wife tries to help but during a bad bout of pain there is nothing anyone can do. chin up guys I know there is nothing the doctors will do but learn to manage the pain and change your life style (I know it sucks) but this can help.

Hi, I have been experiencing very similiar problems now since I had a vasectomy nearly 20 years ago, and although I had a reversal operation 4 years ago I still frequently get swollen and sore epididymis, usually under my left testicle but occasionally under my right.

I went to my gp when it first happenned years ago and he said there is nothing wrong and it is quite common and to stop it you need to massage the affected area as it is usually caused by a blockage of some sort.

So when I get the first sypmtoms, usually when I'm at work, I go to the toilet and have a good squeeze of the affected tube, and it hurts, but hey presto after a couple of hours its all gone.

If left, which is what has happenned this week it gets quite bad and forces me to walk like John Wayne has just climbed off his horse and can take several days of massaging to eradicate it.

If it gets any worse I'll probably take a trip to my GP, fingers crossed it'll improve overnight, hope this helps someone with similar problems.

Ditto, ditto and ditto. I am 37 and have been fighting the same lower right below the belt and right testicle pain for almost 6 years now. All of the above tests done including 2 CTs and everything comes back negative. Currently working with a urologist as I experienced epididymitis I my left testicle about 4 weeks ago. I have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks and hope to have an update. I will be pushing for an MRI and hope to find an answer.

Ive had similar symptoms inc burning epididymum (R) and particularly the right vad def from the epididymum to at least an inch inside the abdomen. Touching and tracing the vas def inc 1" inside the abdomen increases the burning stinging. Ive not had a sperm test and your idea is very good. Pain since 2009.

Not sure how active you or anyone on this thread still is but..

I’m 19 and feel I’ve had this problem for a while but this morning it was so painful I thought about going to the doctors tomorrow but it seems completely fine now. Reading your post I really think that makes sense as I’ve not before that if my girlfriend sits on my pelvis area for too long my left testicle starts to ache. I’ve also been doing a lot of powerlifting recently and defo not enough stretching as my lower back, glutes and hams have felt really tight so this could explain why the aching has been worse recently. Thanks for the advice, I think it’s probably the best on this thread.
