What does ventricular ectopic means? I have spoken with my friend and he told me that he suffers from ventricular ectopic, and when I asked him to explain me that conditions he was unable. I know that is a condition of the heart. I appreciate any information.
Ectopic means to arise in a position different from normal, so ventricular ectopics are beats which arise somewhere in the ventricular area of the heart. They normally do not affect normal input and are recognizable as wide complex which do not fit with underlying rhythm of the ECG. Ventricular ectopics are common and usually of no clinical significance, although they do have the potential to induce ventricular fibrillation particularly if they coincide with the T wave of a proceeding beat.
If you are worried for your friend, go with him next time when he has scheduled with doctor.
