I have tried the suboxone and it did not help at all. I was still in pain and withdrawling horribly. I am hoping the Xanax will help the anxiety and some cold and flu meds will also take the edge off. I have yet to find something that would help me withdrawl a little easier. is there any other thing you also have done to help you?

doctors dont know anything about subs. taking them for 2 years is outrageous. especially the amount they tell u to take. subs is like methadone and stores in ur body. u prolly are better off doing h for a few weeks to month and take as little sub as possible for as short amount of time as u can. you'll never avoid feeling shitty but if u do it ur way ull withdraw for at least a month. seen it with friends on methadone. dude withdrew for 3 months after using meth for a year. dont want to see anyone on h, not even my worst enemy but ur way, ur in for a horrible amount of pain fo a long time. take half sub at first, try quarter at night, next day take quarter and quarter, then half a quarter and same at night. then stop. take benzos for anxiety and something or sleeping. if muscles hurt take hot bath or shower for as long as u can stand. drink alot, eat potassium rich foods and antioxidants. also get some weed. that helped me the most when mixed with benzos. no matter what u do ur in for a crappy week but it doesnt need to be as intense as what u said. also try doing litle things to take ur mind off of the situation. dont recommend working but go for walks or lite excersise

As you heard getting off Suboxone can be as worse or worse than heroin if you have been on it along time. If you want to get off the trick is to taper off as much as possible your dose. Then when you finally quite you will feel withdrawals in 48 hours. You should then take light PK's once a day for three days. You then should be good. The problem will be lack of energy and motivation. Opioids and subs drastically reduce your testosterone levels( males). You can find a doctor to give you a script to get your levels back up a lot quicker which will lower your risks greatly for relapse. Combined with exercise you can kick your habit for good!!!

i was addicted to Suboxone for 10 years, and jumped at 8mg. it took MONTHS for the withdrawal to stop.
do yourself a favor - DO NOT go on Suboxone. if anything, use it for a VERY short period of time (less than a week) in a very fast taper. long-term Suboxone use is a recipe for disaster. the extremely long half-life of buprenorphine, combined with the frankly outrageous amounts that are prescribed (when used for pain, buprenorphine used to be used in the MICROgrams range; prescription Suboxone/Subutex is multiple MILLIgrams), amounts to your body taking an enormous dose each day when it hasn't had nearly enough time to rid itself of the last enormous dose. when it comes time to finally get off Suboxone, you will find yourself trapped in a nightmare that is FAR WORSE than heroin addiction. trust me, i speak from hard-won experience in this matter. i believe the manufacturers actually conspired to create a "medication" that is PERMANENTLY addicting, and they did an excellent job of it. if not for the Grace of God and a whole lot of searching for answers, i think i would still be trapped by it. i fully expect a class action lawsuit against Reckitt-Benkeiser in the near future.
go search online for the following articles:
-THE HYPOASCORBEMIA-KWASHIORKOR APPROACH TO DRUG ADDICTION THERAPY
and
-THE ATTENUATION OF HEROIN WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF HIGH-DOSE VITAMIN C
(you can also search for "Matt Finch Vitamin C opiate withdrawal" or something like that to find a slightly altered approach. i don't think i can use embedded links, but just search for those things, and you will find them)
and follow THAT protocol. remember to use ONLY SODIUM ASCORBATE and not some other form of vitamin C, and remember that it is ONLY CHRONIC DOSING, JUST AT BOWEL TOLERANCE that works. i've heard people say in forums, "i tried that, and it didn't work for me" - but it invariably turns out that they weren't doing it correctly. start with 3 grams of sodium ascorbate every 2 hours. if it does not just start to produce runny stools, increase it by a gram. a level teaspoon is about 3 grams. do this for a couple of days, staying right at bowel tolerance, while still taking the heroin (if you'd like to do this completely painlessly). on the third day, stop the heroin, and continue taking the sodium ascorbate every 2 hours. keep this up for about 5 days to a week. you will be fully detoxed, painlessly.
PAY IT FORWARD. if you know any other addicts, tell them about this, and have them do likewise.
but do NOT, under any circumstances, get on Suboxone long-term!!!

My daughter was in rehab this summer and they put her on Sub right away and kept her on a maintenance dose, to continue when she left. As I understand it, SUB block the effects of the opiate. Here's some thing I copied from Google :
" As a medication-assisted treatment, it suppresses withdrawal symptoms and cravings for opioids, does not cause euphoria in the opioid-dependent patient, and it blocks the effects of the other (problem) opioids for at least 24 hours. Success rates, as measured by retention in treatment and one-year sobriety, have been reported as high as 40 to 60 percent in some studies. "
The best part is blocking the effects of opiats !!!

No that process does not work. Suboxone has a 3+ day half life. That means you wont start feeling bad until day 3 and subs are hard to get off of. It's a long kinda odd withdrawal that lasts a month. Trust me I sat it out two years ago and was on small doses of subs for a year+. They scare me. However it is a great alternative to buying heroin and spending all your money. Yes they work immediately you wont be sick at all, but ny goal was to be clean of all drugs.
If you are serious about getting off ...
1.) you will need a good 4 days off work at minimum.
2.)I recommend keeping one strip of (emergency) sub. That's one square of the two square strips in the package. Cut that square into five or six pieces with scissors. If you were or are able hopefully you tapered down your heroin a bit, but if not just stop doing it. It's going to suck, but the first day is actually bearable. Third day was always the worst for me. Get yourself to at least a good 24 hours without shooting up or snorting.
3.) I'm sorry I forgot something. It's a good idea to get on a schedule if taking Immodium immediately after your last dose of heroin. I would take 5-6 every 6 Hrs. I buy the generic ones. Go to Amazon and get Kirkland bottles, $9.00 for 400 pills. Get a lot more for your money, otherwise it can get expensive. It does not really help with diarrhea for myself,, but it does take the withdrawal symptoms down a bit actually. I definitely noticed a difference.
GOAL: STAY OFF ANY DRUGS FOR THE ENTIRE WITHDRAWAL
OR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE .(EMERGENCY SUB)
Anyway after 24Hrs + of not using you will be wide awake and the restless leg syndrome should be kicking in a bit or for heavy users a lot by now. If you can, try walking as much as you can and try to take a warm/hot shower. Nighttime is the worst for me, but if you are having trouble handling the no sleep and the relentless anxiety think how soon it will be over and that your not going to die.
4.) I hope you made it at least 30 HOURS by now. If you are going nuts just take a small piece of suboxone. You might actually fall asleep for a bit. Give it an hour or so to kick in. That little piece is powerful, trust me.
Day three might get bad. It does for me and I've done this 4 times, and every-time I've quit I never gave up, I'm just dumb and think after a while I can do a line of sh*t.
Anyway this is the point where it feels my brain is at an all out search party for heroin. It consumes my entire body with that restless horrible tingling felling that almost drives you nuts. It is relentless at this point. This is when you know you are close to feeling better.
5.) Day 3 When the withdrawal gets so bad as I just mentioned It's ok to take another small piece of suboxone if you really can't get through it. You might want to take 2 small pieces. Again you might fall asleep, but if not this will calm down your symptoms without making you addicted to suboxone in the long run. THIS WORKS. THERE IS NO EASY WAY AND YOU WILL FEEL LIKE YOU ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING. YOU GET TO WAKE UP EVERYDAY WITHOUT WASTING YOUR DAY BEGGING FOR MONEY DRIVING TO GAS STATIONS, WORRIED ABOUT GETTING BUSTED, YOU'LL HAVE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET, AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACT LIKE YOUR FRIENDS WITH THE LOSER DEALER ANYMORE.
After that it just might be a couple or a few more days of no sleep, but you might be happy enough to go to work. It's kind of a rush for me when I know the bad part is over. \
My advice after this is to stay away from addicts, and if, by chance, your a scummy person that lies and cheats all the time work on quitting that bad habit as well. That's almost as worse and as unappealing as doing heroin, and funny thing is everyone knows that you are a no good liar and thief every time you lie. You just use heroin as an excuse.
Quitting heroin does not make you a better person, and that is just as important if not more so.
Good Luck and for those of you that talk tough and think your a bad ass this should be easy for you, don't let a little powder beat your ass.....

The transition is never easy for any of these drugs. I have been on suboxone for almost 10 years. After going through severe withdrawals from h I checked myself into a rehab facility to get clean. I was put on a suboxone regiment and I felt great it was a chance at a fresh start. I was able to go to college earn a bachelors degree, renew the relationship with my family and build a successful career. I have slipped up from time to time and find transitioning from h back to suboxone to be complete hell. Suboxone probably saved my life and it helped me create a quality life for myself but there are serious with suboxone and long term suboxone programs. I had NO CLUE what I was getting myself into. The doctors put me on suboxone and it had good results so I never questioned my doctors or the treatment plan. 10 years later I'm doing great except I cannot get off the suboxone. I have tried long term weening and tapering to a very low dose but always end up feeling terrible and just can't. I know it comes down to will power and strength which I clearly do not have. This weighs very heavily on me and frankly depresses the sh*t out of me knowing I'm physically dependent on the medication. If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't change a thing but be very careful when you decide to get on suboxone and Understand that it's every bit as addictive and even harder to kick. God Bless and cheers to all of you looking to get clean!

I know this is going to sound insane, especially to someone whose gone a whole addiction without anyone knowing, but I would tell someone.
You're going to need help, especially if you have responsibilties!
But regardless if you choose that path, going from any opiate to suboxone I suggest waiting as long as you can following around the minimum timeline of when to properly dose (12+ hours for heroin). Then when you're ready to dose the suboxone take LESS THAN 1MG. Yes, 1MG is the max I would take when first dosing because if precipitated withdrawals do happen they will only last a very short time and then you'll be able to redose.
What I've done and it has never failed me is my first dose I start with 1mg of suboxone or less.
Wait 15-30 minutes. If withdrawals don't get worse, take another small dose. Wait another 15-30 minutes.
As long as you're not feeling worse at this point you're more than likely safe to take any dose you'd like until no withdrawals.
This in my opinion is the best way. Especially for someone afraid to get sicker but doesn't want to wait a ridiculous amount of hours to first dose.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OUT THERE GETTING CLEAN!
