I had strep throat and was on erythromycin 4 x 250 mg for 8 days. After day 3 I got blood in my stools. Sometimes even before and after stools. Blood and mucus. I finished my medicines 2 days ago, but still have blood in my stools. Plus my wipes are bloody - bright red blood. I'm also passing a lot of gas. Sometimes I just pas gas and blood and mucus. I'm freaked out. Is it normal?
I'm eating a lot of yoghurt.

I have the same problem. I had erythromycin 2 X 500mg for a week and now I see dripping drops of blood after bowel movement. I did not see any responses to your post. So was wondering if, this problem went away after you discontinued erythromycin.

i have the same problem as revron, i did not find any respose from you guys, will problem subside after discontinuing the erythromycin ?
Hi, I have been on Erythromycin for a week and my stool test is positive for occult blood. As a RN, I am worried about the bleed and have to undergo further investigation to rule out cancer. I do hope it is the med that has caused the result to be positive.
