I had my gallbladder removed 2yrs ago, and I have gained 45lbs. My entire life, I was the same weight and even when I had my children, I lost the weight right away, but since my gall bladder has been removed, the weight gain just has not stopped. I have not changed my diet, and eat small portions and it is very aggravating. The weight gain is not me. It is not my personality or what I like to portray to society. I have been depressed since I gained the weight because I am at a loss of how to control it. Nothing seems to work. I do exercise. Nothing helps. I wish the doctor would of informed me of this. All they said was lifetime low fat/no fat diet, but for a year after the removal, I was tired and lacked energy. Now I do not even feel like myself because how I look on the outside, never was who I was.

Wrong.... I followed WeightWatchers healthy eating and actually put a pound on!! Even though I lost 3 and half stone following same regime last year (before gallbladder removal). Its definitely a common problem - but not because people are eating fattier foods....

I feel exactly the same as you do. Before I had my GB removed, I weighed between 115-118 lbs. my entire life with the exception when I was 9 Mo pregnant & weighed 144 lbs at time of delivery. I am 65 yrs. old now & was very proud of the way that I looked. All that changed when I had my GB removed. My doctor told me that I might put on a couple of pounds, but since I'm 5'9" he said even if I did gain weight, I'm tall enough that I would barely notice a difference. Well, 10 months later, I have already gained 25 lbs. I am embarrassed to go anywhere, because when I look in the mirror, this is not me. I don't have one piece of clothing that fits. I used to wear 1's or 3's. Now, I'm lucky if I can squeeze into a size 10 pair of shorts. I weigh as much now as when I was 9 months pregnant. I don't know what to eat anymore other than broiled fish, a very small bowl of unsweetened apple sauce & coffee with non-dairy creamer & plenty of water. I'm also taking enzymes with ox bile, fish oil capsules & not dropping an ounce. Went to the doctor yesterday & gained another pound since I saw him 3 weeks ago. He said don't worry, it's only one pound. The way I am going, I'll gain 52 lbs in a year living on cooked salmon and apple sauce. At this point, I feel helpless & starting to feel depressed. I don't have a clue on what to eat anymore. A few days ago, my friend had a pizza & it looked so good, so I splurged & had a 1 inch sliver that wasn't even 3 inches long. I had such a bad stomach ache & spent hours in & out of the restroom.
What CAN I eat??? I am at a loss.

Dude. No. This is bad science here.
1. Fat collecting on your thighs is not "good" or "bad." It's just fat. To be precise, however, it's likely "subcutaneous adipose tissue." And, SAT is actually protective in some effects where as visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is generally the kind surrounding your organs and causes inflammation and insulin resistance.
Weight collecting in your lower half generally leads to far less insulin resistance than VAT causes. Central adiposity is way more concerning than fat on your thighs. Plus, I don't imagine the bile salts idea is particularly scientific, either. Maybe let their doctor have a shot at suggesting an actual medical remedy. Let's not suggest things we have no real idea about.
