Did you get vaginal or abdominal? I'm scared but I have cervical cancer and I was told to get vaginal. I Watched a video and now I'm freaking out. Don't want it coming out tgat way. I love having sex with my partner and I don't want it to look weird down there. Also if I can't have anymore kids then really don't want something tge size of a small baby being pulled blindly out of my private area

I see this is a old post but I am happy none the less. I haven't seen any positive results about hysterectomies anywhere. Maybe I'm just not finding them but I started to feel bad about my choice to have it. And I'm so glad I did. I had severe adenomyosis and it's not easily diagnosed properly until hysterectomy. I feel like a new woman!!! I've lost over 10lbs and I'm healing well. I am in no more pain like I was before. No pads between my legs anymore. No feat and heavy weight to carry every time I leave the house. I'm sooo happy!!! I'm also super feeling like I'm ready for my man right now but I have to wait a lil longer!!! So desire is not affected one bit!!!! I'm excited to see how well it all still works just fine like doctor said it would!!! I'm sure. Don't be scared and don't think it's the end of the world. It could be like my experience and be the best you made. I'm getting back my life!!! No more pain, no more crazy long heavy periods, no more being depressed because I can't feel good to go anywhere.
I don't live in fear anymore and I can wear white and my panties will last lon and I can get light sheets and not worry!!! Life isn't bad after a hysterectomy at all. Maybe I just had a exercism of a satanic uterus like my mom said and the real me is back to shine and be extremely happy again.

I'm 44 with pmdd and I'm so tired of having two good weeks a month. The other two I feel like some crazy person invades my mind. I want to have a hysterectomy to get rid of the pain with in. Each year I get older the worst it gets. Can't take living like this.

Wow, I feel you! Had my surgery on Oct 24 2014. In the last six mths the pounds are piling on. I work and exercise, slightly eating somewhat better. But I need some motivational support from someone. Who knows and understand my struggle after a hysterectomy. Stay positive

Last night I almost went to the emergency room because of the amount of blood I lost, not to mention the dizziness and exhaustion. What you wrote just gave me confirmation. I'm calling my gyn now and making the decision of what he's been telling me to do for 1yr already. Thank you.

FYI you can have your uterus removed and still keep your cervix. Many doctors reccomend this if you are not experiencing or at risk for cancer. In many cases it is not necessary to take everything.

I am 46 and just had vaginal hysterectomy 10 days ago. Partial - uterus and cervix. I only had pain meds for first 10-12 hours, after I took only ibuprofen for inflammation for 5 days. I really was not in pain after at all, just mild crampiness. I also had a tack down for rectocile at same time, so about 12 stitches in that areA. So bottom tender and been sitting on a pillow. I am still experiencing lack of appetite and have lost 8 pounds. Kinda excited to be dropping weight while I am taking it easy, considering I am an avid gym goer and still tough losing, mainly gained toneness and muscle. I did experience on day 7 lightheadedness w/ no headache but a bit nauseous for 2 days. doc said not related though. Overall, so far so good recovery!
