My brother is 14 and he has problems with his asthma all the time. I would like to know more about asthma in general. What causes asthma and can it be dangerous? Thanks

The causes of asthma are complicated because they include our genes, our exposure to things we become allergic to, and a general effect of our environment. However, in some ways it is not as complicated as it sounds. Almost all asthma in young people is allergic asthma and this means that if you have asthma you probably have inherited genes which make it possible for you to get asthma. Also, allergy-producing things in your environment, such as house dust mites, cats, or dogs increase the possibility for you to get asthma. You need to know that both of these are causes, because if either of them were not present you would not have asthma, or your brother, because this is a case about him. There are a lot more factors that can give us an asthma attack, like colds, exercise, laughter, or tobacco smoke. If you want to know more about asthma, I suggest you to ask your mother about it and also your doctor.
