Back March 10th 2015 I fell in my home and broke my right hip. The Doctor in the emergency room stated that the femur bone was broken into and in one direction and the ball had come out of the Socket area. They did a Partial Hip Replacement and I have been doing Physical Therapy since I had the surgery and it has been 7 months and I am still having a great deal of discomfort in my right thigh area and my leg will not get strong enough to walk on my leg without a Cain or a walker a Cain causes more discomfort when I try to walk.. Can you tell me what will help the problem with the pain in the thigh area of the right joint and why the leg will not get strong enough to walk on without a walker or a Cain?

Had right hip replacement Dec 1014 ..1 year ago.. Recovery was awesome ..then late May pain started from the out side of the right joint and would travel down to my knee ..moves around .very tender all over these areas..lots of inflammation ..so had an injection on the right side in the bursa sack..felt great for 3 days , now it's all tender again with some limping..INTERESTING.. My Dr. who did the injection ask if I have had a joint scan ..to see if I had a torn ligament , which can happen during surgery or while healing..I told him I had complete X-rays which ways a good report..he said, only a scan would show torn ligament ..and that the cortazone would NOT be helpful is that was the case...so next week I will have a follow up with my orthopedic and discuss this....Has anyone else had this experience ,if so did you get this issue cleared up. Thank you,

This sounds similar to my issues, I was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue (MCT)disease, after I was diagnosed with FAI(google it) Femoral Acentabulr Impingment, shoulder pain, etc. I determined on my own that all my ball and socket joints are malformed. I've had two scopes on my left hip and it is 90% pain free, one scope on my right, then a THR and I still have pain. My MCT is treated with methotrexate once a week and daily prendisone which greatly improved my hand and foot pain. I still get flare ups and sometimes have to contact my rhuemtologist to up my sterioids and for my right hip, I do need percocet to get through the really bad days.

i can understand your feeling. i have exactly the same symptoms and have x rays which show nothing untoward.a friend was telling me about her husband who had the same problems .it was investigated further and it was found the whole thing had gone rotten inside.he has now made a full recovery.

I was doing ok for 2 months after my left hip replacement ...then I experienced pain in my left thigh from the top of my incision to my knee...mostly when I laid down to sleep....it was relieved somewhat when I stood up and walked...also the skin on my thigh hurt to the touch...I had to sleep naked to sleep at all...the surgeon gave me oxycodone and gabapentin.....the oxy gave some relief so I could sleep 4 hrs.....but the gabapentin seemed to do nothin.....he acts like it will go away.....HELP SOMEONE!!!

I am interested in what you have found triggers your son's autoimmune disorder. I have several auto-immune things going on and am now experiencing sharp thigh pain (randomly) in left thigh 9 months following THR. Right THR went perfectly 3 years before.

I just started researching this -- piriformis muscle -- if inflamed or weak or having spasms -- can cause many of these symptoms. After hip replacement, maybe rehab stresses the weak muscles, causing inflammation, tightness, spasms, etc. D.O. doctors (they are regular M.D.'s) may be of help because they work especially with the bones and musculature; and they manipulate to stretch and restore balance in the body.

Ive had both hips replaced i am 50 and my first hip was done 3 years ago and my left about a year ago. I can tell you that it takes time and dont rush your recovery. most pt will try to have you doing squats and lunges which i found to be too difficult so i did not do them. My experience with my first was bad but my second was great. i am now having pain back in my right which was the one i had done 3 years ago and am going through the process like all of the people here. xrays look fine and am going in for a bone density test next week to make sure my new hip is not loosning from the bone. my advice is give it time at least a year to really start seeing the improvements.
