I had my left hip replaced 7 months ago and still experiencing pain when I walk for any length of time. Not at the time if walking do much but by nighttime I have to take a 1/2 pill of a low dose pain pill to ease it so I can sleep. Now st times I wake up in pain AND my second hip replacement is in 6 weeks. Do frustrating and as you know somewhat depressing as I know for sure now I'm not Wonder Woman! :):(. Was just going to postpone next surgery but decided to get it over with as 2nd hip in sane shape as first. Just praying more lately! Hope you feel better SOON. I understand after the surgery we have what is called referred pain from the way we have to walk, Hang in there. Your experience seems much worse!

I hear you. Have you had ant releif recently.Currently going through similar since 8 months post op. Cant sleep and only get slight relief from 24 hour antihistamine though not sure why that would make any difference. Doctor did CT of spine as well and says could be coming from the lower lumber as referred pain.

I had a hip replacement at 45 in 2010 and then a revision done 2 years later because I was having pain down the front of my leg. When I sneeze or cough I am in extreme pain from my groin to my knee and my knee feels numb. They cant figure it out. I have had all kinds of tests and injections also.. I am at a loss.

This sounds very much like me! Sorry to hear this. I know how Debilitating this horrible condition is.I have searched for answers for 18 years. Like you all the test come back good. The only test I had to show nerve Issues was a nerve conduction test. It showed I had peripheral neuropathy And carple tunnel syndrome's. In other words a nerve dysfunction... Just as you say feet, legs. butt arms.hand The whole body hurts Stiffness weakness... And no gitty up!! After years of suffering.. I was refered too pain management...It helped more, But like the pain doc says 50% pain relief is considered a success. I do many things to feel better. tens unit on my feet and legs.It takes away some of the numbness and tingling. one hour a day for 30 days then as needed..Ice is a huge help. Ice the wrists..I frozen paper cup is great. Do stretching A lot it helps the pain.

I am 6 months post op. I have very mild pain. Still dealing with numbness. There is a 2 inch wide patch from about mid thigh to the incision that is still mostly numb. Thigh strength is only fair. It is progressing but much slower than I hoped. My left knee started acting up after surgery and it is now being followed by my ortho. He reports no structural damage but the knee is prone to weakness and hyperflexion. He said it is not uncommon for another joint to start acting up after surgery. Prior to surgery my gate was all jacked up. Now that I try to walk normally the left knee acts up.

I have the same problem, I am at 6 months healing now and while I was doing great the pain in my leg thigh creases is terrible. It started at 2 months and all I heard was how it healing. Then they brushed it off it saying I had Osteoarthritis and only giving me narcotics. Aren't there medications to help this pain that don't me sleep? Corticosteroids are bad for the bones. Sigh I f you found any help at all I would love to know my exercise is getting bad.

You are so young and I thank you for your service. I have been in pain since I was I was beaten badly 5 and when I was 35 had TMJ surgery talk about pain? But that wasn't the end and I feel like I have just about every thing removed or they tried to fix it.
I have a sheet long print out of diagnosed by specialists diseases or disorders. I've even learned why they have do the tests to prove it.

Sounds like Fibromyalgia and arthritis but have you been cheched for Sciatica?

Have you thought perhaps about PTSD? Sometimes it can lead to real pain. I have PTSD from the beating at 5 and he wanted bury me alive tried
God bless you

hi people, i had left hip done 3 years back and its been fine, right hip done about 1.5 years back (all due to wear and tear / arthritis ) , the right hip is cramps and spasms around incision area , it gets hard and stiff all on side of leg and lower buttock, then most of my leg, buttocks , lower back and even other leg start to stiffen up and freeze / pain , my legs seem to pull upwards and my feet cramp, groin aches, feel like ive fallen on my coxic and my butt freezes up , im guessing its all pulled out of line and is pulled towards the spasms / cramping area, its almost impossible to walk sometimes, ive had physio and they just massaged forcefully to relieve , the surgeon said xray is all good and hopefully it should go away, its pure insanity to endure , mainly becaus eyou tolerate all the operation etc looking towards the light at the end and then this c**p slaps you down hard, all i can do is rest , take anti inflams and try my electric blanket on high,,,, its pure insanity , grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Have the doctors tested you or treated you for Lyme Disease? I contracted Lyme about 10 years ago and was treated incorrectly or in your case maybe not treated at all. Now that we know what is going on much time has passed since the infection and I have developed all kinds of complications, one of which was attack on my hip which I had replaced last year. Blessings to ya.

I have both Lyme and a right THR. Was treated twice for Lyme last year and had the THR 3 months ago. Also have rheumatoid arthritis. Awful lot of meds amd fatigue is pretty severe. I may talk to my Doc about running another course of Lyme treatment in a month or two (think it was 10 days of doxycycline, although I've read some do up to 20-30 days for persistent Lyme/post-Lyme). Aside from the side-effects of any antibiotic, it's worth a shot. Make sure you get tests first to be pretty sure you have Lyme. Testing for Lyme is pretty variable. Lymedisease org has lots of info.

As for the THR, had been recovering slowly but steadily for 3 months, and today after coming back from shopping, sat down and got a stabbing pain in the back of the mid-thigh. Intermittent, goes from 0 to 10 and back to 0. Don't recall stressing that leg, so not sure what's going on. Continued for about 20 minutes on and off, so debilitating that I took a pain pill and lied down. Continued for another 20 minutes and seems to have subsided. Reading through the posts not sure if this is a "growing pain" as bone grows around the implant or microfractures or what. My Orthopedic doc is good but always very very busy and can't spend a lot of time with patients. Any consensus on what tests should be performed to see what's going on in that part of the femur? Do MRI's mess up implants and surrounding bone tissue? Thanks and good luck to all!
