Hi Ladies!
I'm scheduled to have the Novasure this week. I was really excited until I read all of these negative side affects. Would you still have the procedure now knowing this?

Yes, even after reading all of these comments I look forward to not having the 8 day periods with all the pain anymore! I'm going to the dr. tomorrow to schedule the surgery for later this month

Due to severe cramping & heavy bleeding, I had the Novasure Endometrial Ablation 2 weeks ago. Although I had minor cramps afterwards, I was back to work & even played a round of golf 2 days after the procedure. However, I am tired of wearing pads for the past 2 weeks because of the discharge, my breasts hurt for 10 days, I've been bloated off and on for 2 weeks, I feel abnormally moody and just like clockwork my period came today. I was hoping to be in the category of women who reported their bleeding has stopped, as mentioned in their brochure. If someone were to ask me today if I would recommend the procedure my answer would be absolutely not. If my cycle changes or lightens maybe my answer would be different but at this point, I would not recommend it.

Hi Girls,
I just had my endometrial ablation NOVASURE 2 days ago. Post op my pain was so severe that the nurses and doctors tried numerous narcotics however; I am allergic to all but Demerol and Fentanyl. I spent 8 hours post surgical trying to get the pain under control but NOTHING worked other than minor relief from hot blankets behind my back and on my abdomen. My doctor gave me a shot of torridol and sent me home after my last dose of fentanyl. Here's when the story got better...I got home and took an 800 mg Ibuprofren, put a heating pad on my tummy and took 10mg of Valium, yes Valium. I had heard that valium was not only an anxiety medication but also a pain reliever due to its ability to relax smooth muscles.....MIRACLE DRUG GIRLS! If you had the procedure and heaven forbid end up with severe cramping and pain like me...Discuss with your doctor about Valium. It really helps! My cramping is now minimal not unlike bad period cramps that you would usually have hot tea and an Ibuprofen for. I alternate between the Ibuprofen/Acetominophen and Valium and so far so good. I should also mention, I had several uterine polyps removed as well which were pretty good size.

I hope this helps anyone going through unresolved pain like I had. I'm tellin' ya...It was incredible!
God Bless!
Kimberly

I am having an ablation done in three days. Any tips to get ready. I am currently having my period and experiencing all the wonderful cramps, back and leg pains. It will be day five of my cycle, the day of the surgery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Reading all of your posts have helped make my decision a bit easier. I will also have books and magazines to read the first two days. maybe a chick flick Redbox. Thanks!

Definitely. I haven't had any problems since the procedure was done almost one week ago. Don't stress over it. I haven't had any side affects.

Unfortunately you won't know if it will provide relief until you give it a try. I had my procedure done on 11/3 and I'm still bleeding. I think I had a period last week. Before the procedure I was getting a period about every 3 - 3 1/2 weeks. I have fibroids and the clotting was at times intense. I had a tubiligation back in 2000. I'm 47 and my mother's sisters all had periods well into their 50's. I was over it after having my period since 11 years old. I was back at the dr for my 3 week check up last week and she confirmed it looked like I had my period. I haven't had 1 day free of some sort of bleeding since the procedure. My dr said I may need my uterus removed it this doesn't do the trick. Recovery was a breeze for me -- no meds, just a bit tired. However, I was a bit shocked to note on the release forms from the hospital that I could be bleeding for up to 6 weeks! I guess it's not the norm, but still a possibility. Looks like I'm one of the "lucky" ones and will hit that mark. I keep thinking the bleeding just won't stop and I'll be back in surgery in January. Every friend of mine who had it done is thrilled with the results. I was hoping I could say the same. Not giving up just yet. I'm going to give it the full 6 weeks recovery time before I ruled this a success or failure.

I am one week post EA, and everythings seems right on track. I had heavy bleeding for the seven weeks of the nine weeks before the procedure and for the months prior. Upon discharge, I felt fine, but within 30 minutes, I had serious cramps similar to labor pains until I could get the prescription filled and let the medicine kick in. The next day wasn't bad, just some mild to moderate cramping. The second day after, I felt weak and like someone punched me in the stomach (wasn't taking the meds anymore), so I decided to take the next day off work. I probably should have taken two days off work since I am an elementary school teacher and I do a lot of standing/walking. A good friend said I looked like I was going "down hill" as the day wore on. The last three days, I have been feeling better. Sitting on wooden restaurant chairs is very uncomfortable, I am tired and take naps when I can, my husband says I am a little "cranky", and I'm still feel "aware" of my uterus although not in any pain. I have had a brownish discharge starting on day two post-op that a panty liner could easily handle and I have an odor so I shower twice a day to help refreshen up. I am due to see the doctor in 3 more weeks, but for now, I am relieved not to have heavy bleeding.

had novasure done on 13/8/09 in hospital one day after a period finished. The pain i experienced after the op was less than the exteme period pains i had before. i was given medication in hospital to control the pain however I found walking and hot water bottles relieved the pain more effectively. i had the pinky/brown watery discharge for over two weeks. but only one period so far mid november which was very light and lasted for two days. My surgeon told me that the healing processe will take six months not three as some people believe. i would not recommend that novasure be performed in a doctors surgery under a local, this is for a hospital. i had the novasure performed by a surgeon in my local NHS hospital, the nurses were all very confident in the surgeon as he had a lot of experience with the novasure. i would say research the healthcare professional who will be performing your procedure.

I had my Novasure procedure on 12/17/09. I had NO problems really. I didn't even have pain. I took 1/2 a pain pill the night of my surgery and 1/2 the next day. And I had an ovary removed too. I still have what I call "leaking". It's mostly clear but sometimes pink. a couple weeks after my surgery I was supposed to have my period and I noticed the discharge was browner. But the doctor told me on my 2 week follow up visit that the "leaking" would stop. well it hasn't. Though I only wear a panty liner... still.. I want it to stop. i do have an odor as well. It's not necessarily bad...but it's different. I guess i will give it a bit more before I call the doctor

I am 1 week post procedure and I am still have cramping periodically which causes me to be cranky. I seem to be pretty tired too, so I am wondering if I'm getting tired easier because my body is putting energy into healing. I did start working out again a couple of days after the procedure because my doctor said it was OK. I'm wondering if my level of activity is too much and contributing to the cramping. Everything I read says you are supposed to be able to return to normal activity, but for me, it is taking a little time to feel 100%.

I'm scheduled for the procedure tomorrow. Any info on a quick recovery would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what to expect. I'm having the novasure procedure done and I've heard both good and bad. Please pass along any info that will help my recovery process and pray for the best. Thanks.

I had the procedure done just over three weeks ago. I did have discarge for a few days and felt great the day after, went back to work (hairdresser) the next day after that. Was a little crampy and my lower back ached the night of but the heating pad and the vicoden the dr. gave worked. I did have a day of spotting when i was suppose to start this past weekend, but a pantyliner was all i needed and it was gone by the next night. My problem is that as of late i have been feeling nausea, and a couple mornings to the point of dry heaves. I feel kind of sluggish and sex just isnt the same, i don't know if the later has something to do with having a lot of scar tissue on my cervix~( pre cancerous cell in my mid-twenties) they had to scrape down (before the prcedure) it feels pretty tender up there during sex so hubby has to take it easy, but without sounding gross i feel like the grand canion down there, what's up with that? When i went for my two week follow up he said things were good! I quess time should give me more clue as if this is just part of the healing process. Has anyone had simular problems? All in all i'm hoping in time i wont have any bleeding but every person does heal differently. I am 50 so maybe pre monopausal is to blame for feeling like this....

Thank you all for your posts. I had the NovaSure procedure done six days ago (also had a D&C). I had pinkish discharge for the first 4 days and it seems to have stopped now. The cramping is worse today than any other day. I get an occasional 'sharp pain' as well. I was given a painkiller post op and again while recovering in my hospital room. My doctor didn't prescribe any painkillers, was just advised to use Motrin (OTC). Luckily, I had 800mg Motrin at home, but that doesn't really help the cramping too much. It also feels like my insides are about to fall out. My follow-up appointment is Monday, but I was concerned about the increased pain I was experiencing today. I'm relieved to know that it is not uncommon. I am excited to find out if I have a light period at the end of the month or if I'm lucky enough to not have one at all! Take care all.
