Today is Monday and I had the procedure done at noon on Friday. No cramping, but was not able to have a bowel movement until today (yeah). I am SO TIRED though. I just want to sleep, sleep, sleep. I have no energy. I was so glad that my kids went to school today and my husband went to work. I just have stayed in bed pretty much all day.....

I had the NovaSure done on Monday, 4/19/10, I had pain down there when I left the hospital and throughout the evening. Tuesday I stayed home from work as well and was fine. I took the pain med's prescribed to me, although between the anesthesia on Monday and the Darvocet on Tuesday, I felt like my skin was crawling. So I only took the Motrin after that. I thought I was a tough cookie and went to work on Wednesday. I admit, sitting in a normal chair all day long felt a little "different" down there, and I tried to keep my feet up. But after nine hours, I had a pain on my left side that would not stop. I went home at 5 and took a 600 mg Motrin, then another before bed, approx. 10 pm, then about 2am I woke up to go urinate and the pain was still there. Along with it, I had hot and cold flashes back and forth and felt nauteous and light headed. I decided to take another Motrin and go back to bed. Laying down did help with the light headed feeling, and I kept the covers off, so I wasn't hot flashing so much. Which is totally weird for me because I'm usually bundled up and cold all the time. But in the morning on Thursday, I woke up and was alright. So I proceeded to work as usual. But I did decide I would probably only do a half day then and possibly Friday as well. So I called my gyno to make my two week follow up appt and told them about my previous evening experience, and they asked me if I was at work now. I said yes. The nurse told me I should have probably taken a whole week off, not just one and a half days. They put me on hold. Came back and asked me a few more questions, put me on hold again. This time, my actual doctor gets on the phone. LOL She pretty much explained the whole procedure again to me, and made me go home. Plus my co-workers were all saying "I TOLD YOU SO" . So anyway, my overall experience so far has been really fine. A little tight, crampy kinda feeling down there and along my c-section scar, but other than that I'm good, and looking forward to the next few months and the benefits. The only thing I can pass onto anyone thinking of having the NovaSure procedure done, is PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DOCTOR AND REST, REST, REST! How my doctor explained it is, It's ok to admit that your body does need time to heal. Woman are strong creatures, but think about it, when you are literally burned on the inside, your body has a pretty big task to heal you back to normal. Think about your hand being burned by say, a curling iron. OK, you see the red mark, it BURNS, then it may go through stages where it's yellowish, greenish, (yeah I know YUCK) and then you have the same color oozing from it. It's healing itself. So again, your insides are no different. Take care of them and they will take care of you. Give them time to rest and recover. I truely beleive this whole thing will be well worth the time I'm finally allowing myself to do just that:)

I had NovaSure about 3 weeks ago and I guess I'm a bit confused by all the posts. I supposed it depends on if people have endometriosis, fibroids, polyps or adenomyosis. These underlying conditions might be the cause for some of the "complaints/concerns/discomports" following the procedure. I don't have any of those. I've just always had heavy, long periods. I can't take hormones either. I solved migraines, cramps and the majority of my acne by taking spironolactone (Aldactone). This is an off-label use for this medication. I'm surprised that everyone was unprepared for their surgery in terms of what to expect post-op. The discharge can last for up to 6 weeks and depending on where you were in your cycle, it may start out brown or pink but should turn yellow. This is explained really well, why this happens, on other websites (like NovaSure's website). I never had any cramps or pain and am a hard-core exercise freak and was back at in a week. Most of my issues came because of the laparoscopic tubal ligation. Intra-abdominal air canot be totally removed and the referred shoulder, back and neck pain from the trapped air is worse than childbirth ( I delivered 2 kids vaginally without drugs ). You won't know if the procedure was successful for about 4 months. Women who have fibroids are often disappointed by the results and end up with a hysterectomy anyway. Adenomyosis can have similar results. Your hormones and symptoms caused by them (like PMS) should be no different since the ovaries are not touched during this procedure.

i had the procedure done 7/23/10 and had bad cramping for a few hours afterwards and lightheaded for a couple days along with very mild brownish/yelow discharge that ended 12 days after procedure. i was told no sex for 2 weeks and after day 16 i had sex for the 1st time after surgery and the discharge started again but was now watery and light pink. after week 3 the discharge stopped and i had sex again and have been bleeding ever since. it has a bad smell to it also. thinking there may be am infection and that maybe 2-3 weeks wasnt a long enough waiting period for sex.

I had the procedure done two days ago. My doctor told me that I would likely be able to resume normal activities the next day. I went grocery shopping yesterday and felt pretty severe cramping when I got home. I also had more bleeding and discharge afterwards. My biggest complaint has been the itching all over. Don't know if it's from the Darvocet, the antibiotic or the anesthesia, but it is very bothersome. I feel extremely bloated and I am wondering if it takes longer to recover from this procedure than I was led to believe.

I had my ablation with the ballon 10 days ago and I have been cramping on and off the whole time. I never had any discharge but this morning I was cramping and I started bleeding. I also did not have ant anestisia so it was very . very pain full for me. I also went grocerie shoping two days after and had bad cramping after. I think this procedure is alot more than what they say it is and that the recovery is alot longer than they tell us also. I don't recomend the ablation by the way~ :'(

Had the procedure last Thursday. Post Op... lots of pain. I actually woke up crying and they had to max out the pain meds to calm me. When released, I was good and doped and went right to bed with my heating pad. It was a long night, but the heat helped the cramping alot. Also... forget the pain meds and ask your doc for 800mg Ibuprofen. Once I took that... cramping stopped. The pain meds will also make it very hard for you to pass a bowel movement... beware. Friday, I rested all day. Little cramping and lots of pink watery discharge. Saturday the same. Uterus feels tight and I pee alot. Sunday, I went out for a bit. My back ached some and the discharge was heavier... so I went home and rested with my heating pad and I was fine.
Today I feel good. My boobs are sore, but that is normal for this time of the month. Remember, the procedure stops heavy bleeding, not symptoms. Lots of discharge and I am tired, but no pain. In my opinion... you need more time to heal then my research led me to believe. Take a week. Keep your feet up. Relax. So far... I am happy. :-D

had the procedure done 27.9.10 in the outpatients clinic, my painkiller was gas and air, I believe that you should be put to sleep for this procedure and have correct aftercare, I'm into my second week off work and the pain is just starting to go. I still have a pinkish discharge. hope its going to be worth it in the end

I just had this procedure yesterday, for the first 3 hours the pain was like a long contraction, it was worse than I was expecting, but after the 3 hours the pain got better and better within a 2 hour period and then I was allowed to go home. I have not needed pain meds at all. I just feel a little fragile and a little woosy because of the general anaesthetic. The bleeding is much less than I thought it would be. last night there was hardly any bleeding and it's mainly that there's a bit of blood on the tissue when i go to the loo. I am trying a small panty liner today and hoping I can get away with that, it's hard to tell as I usually use tampons.

It's been almost a month. No more discharge. No cramping. I was cleared by my Doc to resume sexual activity in week two. I was worried, because of some posts I had read... but sex was good. My hormones are still out of wack... my boobs hurt all the time! Doc says its normal. I am super happy. No period this month. I hope it continues. :-D

I had discharge for about 3 weeks, then it stopped. I was also tired and sometimes lightheaded for a few weeks. As I stated before... I think the recovery time is longer. I needed tons of rest for a good week, before I began to feel normal. Now- almost a month later- I feel much better... no cramping or discharge or smell. I had sex after my doc said it was ok, and that was great. I cant hold my urine for as long now. When I have to pee- I gotta go. No period, BUT I am having all of the PMS symptoms... and that is normal. My boobs hurt and I am moody... but no period! My hormones are still a bit wacky... but I am wacky anyways! I'm happy :-)

I have the Novasure done Friday. The drugs they gave me to before didn't seem to have helped much. Had an Ativan, 2 Dilaudid, 1 Flexeril, shot of Toradol and an 800 motrin 1hr before. Seemed to do okay before the dilation. After that, tears and pain, on my part, not the Docs. Also should mention I ahve Fibromyalgia so all pain is intensified. Halfway thru the dilation, Doc offerred to stop and rebook for an OR. I really should have insisted. The pain with the dilation and the actual "burn" was more than I had when delivering my babies vaginally both times. Only way I can describe it was like the night we had a miscarriage and went to the ER for an evaluation. Problem now is the smell and the lightheadedness. I am expecting to go to work tomorrow but the lightheadedness is making me reevaluate that. I have 3 kids and a husband who all expected this to be a piece of cake because I'm the "Mom" and Moms never get a sick day so I guess I'm feeling like I have to do the "Mom" thing.
Any ideas on the smell...do I call the MD tomorrow or see how it goes? Will the lightheadedness decrease? Don't have any real discharge yet, should I?

I am hoping this works no bleeding since the one time at 2 weeks.. I want the discharge to go away is all .I'm calling my dr in the morning. it is working for me so far all except the discharge..but good luck if you decide to get it done !
