I'm getting ready to start the fire academy in a few months and in addition to the already physicaly demanding training we have to run 3 miles every day. So i've been hittin the gym to condition and doing a ton of cardio but i want to start running outdoors. I'd just like to see if you guys maybe have any tips for me? I ordered some Nike shox 2:45, are these any good? from what i've read on here so far i should go to a running store and have them measure me, so should I just return these?
thanks a ton
alex
Have you run in the new shoes yet? If not, you might want to go to the running store and find out what shoes you should be buying and if the nike shox fall into that category.

If you've worn them, you should be able to tell us whether or not you need to return them. Do they fit? Does the heel slip? Is there discomfort?

As to whether they are good, the real question is are they good for you?

before you return the shoes i would take them with you into the running store and see if they think the shoes would be good for you, if not, then i recommend getting a pair they suggest.

as for the running, start small and get longer runs in each week, dont try and pack in the miles all of the sudden, or you will get hurt. set goals, make a chart and follow it, that way you know your progress and you can look bad and feel good about your accomplishments.
