As many of you already know... My weekly mileage has been going in the wrong direction as I attempt to get ready for my first ever Half-Marathon in Atlanta on Thanksgiving morning due to knee problems. Although my running totals are going down, I've kept up with my weight lifting and doing some x-training on Eliptical Trainer. Here are my last few weeks of running (Mon - Sun): This current week: 8 miles (8*, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, ???) Last week: 16.9 miles (0, 6.2, 0, 6.04, 0, 4.66, 0) 2 weeks ago: 23 miles (0, 5.66, 0, 5.06, 0, 4.08, 8.20) 3 weeks ago: 24.3 miles (0, 6.18, 0, 5.06, 3.1, 5.06, 4.91*) 4 weeks ago: 27.1 miles (0, 6.19, 0, 4.36, 0, 3.1, 10.05) 5 weeks ago: 28.2 miles (0, 6.35, 0, 6.50, 0, 5.79, 9.59) * = Long Run cut short due to knee pain. After no running since Monday evening & a cortisone shot on Wednesday afternoon, I'm set to head back out tomorrow afternoon. Assuming I don't encounter any knee pain, how far should I go? What should my next week of running look like as I try to get back into decent shape for the half-marathon. (I'm probably going to avoid any back to back running days for sure.) Sunday (11/9): ?? Monday - off Tues - ?? Wed - off Thurs - ?? Fri - off Sat/Sun - ?? A week from tomorrow (Sunday, 11/16) should be the final true long run (~ 13 miles) based on the schedule I was working from. But that schedule is useless now. Any ideas on how I should work my taper in the next few weeks? thanks from a frustrated runner!
