From experience, as well as working in medical field, I know that a GOOD parathyroid Dr. Will only need to do the surgery ONCE.

Yes, he is the top parathyroid surgeon in the country,if not the world. He workers on at least 2 from other countries every day. I had a surgeon who never touched me, &it really does not matter if you see an endocronologist, most often they are not knowledgable enough nor do they have the experience in surgeries. Please, please go to dr. Normans web site, there u will find a list of symptoms & so much more.

If you still happen to be searching for a highly experienced surgeon, might I suggest driving the few extra miles to Dr. Shelby Holt at UTSW. However, FYI, she does require a doctor's referral.
If, per chance, you may have difficulty in obtaining a PHPT biochemically confirmed diagnosis in the first place,
also highly recommended is Dr. Naim Malouf in the Mineral Metabolism Department (also at UTSW).

I just found out that I need para surgery--and am wanting to get the best possible doctor. I don't know where to go as Lancaster, Pa is limited in surgeons/answers, etc. I have read about Dr. Norman and he sounds great as this is "what he does all the time", but thought I could find someone closer...any ideas?

I know 2 women who went to Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, FL and both had good results. My daughter may be heading there soon too.

I have been waiting over 2mo to hear back from Tampa! After researching their web site, I must say; I am VERY disappointed it has been that long! They have all of my information, insurance, & history records but no word from them yet. I live in Nebraska & want to get this taken care of ASAP or I am sure to lose my mind!

How long did you have to wait to get in there? I have been waiting 2mo & they have ALL of my info!

Yes, I'm scheduled to have parathyroid surgery with him and his team! They only do parathyroid surgeries...23,000 per year, with a 99+% cure rate in one surgery. Find out what The American Assoc of Endocrine Surgeons think about him, and you'll want him for your doctor, too!

It seems I am in the same place you are with this problem and my tests are all leading to parathyroid. The biopsy I would investigate some before doing it. If you haven't found the Norman Hyperparathyroid web site yet you may want to check it out as they have tremendous amount of info and they are the other clinic I was thinking of but it is quite far in Tampa, Fl and I live north of Chicago. Good luck! Again it is the Norman Parathyroid Clinic inTampa Florida.
