I had an abortion 5 days ago. As many women posting on this site, i was worried about the post abortion symptoms and came here for help.

I have now had a phone consultation with a nurse and was reassured my severe pain was normal.

It is sad that abortion is such a taboo subject that, as my own experience and most posts on this site show, women are allowed to be scared and confused due to the lack of information "out there".

I do not condone using abortion as a contraceptive but there are times where it is the safest/only option.

It is not fair we should be penalised because society does not condone abortion and there are all sorts of political issues around it.
Women need clear information so, that this experience, which is never pleasant doesn't become even more stressful. It should be our right.

I would like to thank the women who post for being open with their experiences in such a sensitive subject.

I will now regularly visit the site and get involved.
keep up the good work :-D
Thanks for the "kudos". We here at SteadyHealth do our best to put people at ease during a stressful situation. Abortion, for whatever reason falls under a highly charged category. Tho many do not condone abortion, that is their right as Americans. Then there are people who have no opinion at all. I myself have had 2 procedures back when i was younger. There was no physical reason why i could not have had these babies.
But it was my right to do whatever i needed to do at the time.
I am not proud of what i did, and i do think about it from time to time and i am not afraid or embarrassed to talk about it.
I am happy that our forum enlightened you, and we are happy that you have come on board.

i live in england as my father's english but, was born in portugal,a small country near spain. Abortion in portugal had been ilegal until about 5 ago, as it is a predominantely catholic country. I went through life hearing stories of women buying abortion pills illegaly and developing complications due to not being medicaly supervised. Putting health at risk over political/religious issues just seems pathetic.

I have always taken responsibility for contaception but, S*** happens and i found myself in this situation. It really has been an eye opener. It has been physicaly/emotionaly intense and i am needing an amount of support i never thought i would.

I found a little of that here so,once again thanx ;-)
