The CareZone App is said to be the most convenient way for you and your loved ones to manage medical information, doctor’s orders and medication prescriptions. This allows you to be able to access important medical information conveniently from your hand-held device, instead of having to remember to carry around loads of paperwork and prescriptions that can easily get lost.

Using the app

When the app is accessed, a page opens where you can set up an account by entering your name, e-mail address and password. Once you have done this, you are sent an e-mail by a CareZone care advisor stating that the flagship service of the company is free prescription home delivery through CareZone's Pharmacy Services. They say that they pre-sort the medication in pill packs, free of charge, for the patient. This is excellent marketing from their part as the latter service is one that a lot of patients will want, especially if it's offered at no extra cost.

The home page opens up at the 'tips' page of the app where you can add personal details such as your date of birth, social security number, medical insurance information and you can even scan your medications by using the camera function of your phone or hand-held device.

The developers of the app promise users that the information that is entered is done so confidentially, and that the data is secured and protected by using the same technology that banks use. They also mention that security firms audit their systems on a routine basis to make sure that everything is in order.

The 'inbox' button takes you to a section of the app where you can send any relevant questions to the service providers at CareZone.

The 'services' button takes you to a page where you can connect to the pharmacy, and you can upload and share your prescription for filling in and delivery purposes. You can also look up information regarding Medicare Plans and the costs associated with them for the new year.

Back at the home page, there's a button on the top left corner that accesses a new page when pressed. This page contains the following useful features.

  • Medications - you can keep a single list of medications with dosages, refill information and other prescribing orders and documentation loaded here. You can even set up reminders, for yourself or even family members, to schedule when medication should be taken. Also, reminders can be scheduled for when chronic medications need to be refilled. This list is backed up securely and can be accessed from any browser or mobile device at the doctor's office, in emergency situations or at any other time you may need it.
  • Trackers - important vital signs such as blood pressure, glucose levels, weight, height, body mass index and pulse rate can be documented here and you can track the progress of this information over time.
  • Journal - this features acts as a digital journal where you can record observations and share updates.
  • Contacts - here, you can fill in and organize important contact details such as addresses and phone numbers of doctors, family members, pharmacies, insurance companies, friends and helpers.
  • Calendar - this feature can be used for keeping track of refill dates for your medication as well as appointments with health care providers.
  • To-Dos - you can assign or organize tasks to others and if you require any help, then CareZone will aid you by finding people willing to be of assistance from within your friend and family contact list for you.
  • Notes - this feature is used to make everyday notes and jot down ideas and thoughts that can be accessed later. This is much better than writing the information down on a piece of paper that can easily get lost. It's very useful for writing down questions that you would like to ask your doctor at your next visit, for example.
  • Photos & Files  - you can use this feature to upload and store photos securely, or you can take photos of important health files directly from your phone. You can also take photos of skin or hair related issues which you can show your doctor when consulting for such a reason.
  • Sharing With  - here, you can safely share access of your information in case of an emergency, or to coordinate care with other health care providers.
