II lost about 15 lbs in less than a week. It was absolutely shocking to me that I could lose so much weight so quickly. All the experts will tell you also that if you're losing weight this rapidly then it isn't fat, it's mostly water, and it'll reappear the moment you begin to eat normally again... but the truth is, I kept off the weight I lost permanently.
There are 3500kcal in 1lb of fat, so if you lost 15lb in one week that means you were burning 7500kcal a DAY as well as those you were consuming.
Don't get me wrong, i am sure you did lose weight with this, but i am not sure it is possible to lose quite that much unless you were training for the army or something...
7500 kcal (which is 750 calories) is easy to burn in one day. by just doing daily activity like walking to your car, grocery shopping, etc.
Hi everyone, I know this is an older thread but just having a read and wondering how everyone's getting on? Looking to start this today as my weight is jut creeping up and up! Just reading above...Kcal and Calories are the same thing therefore 7500Kcal is 7500 Calories- quite a lot to burn in a day?!
I'm convinced this will work anyway. I lost nearly 2 stone in just under a year by eating a restrictive diet- one meal a day or less, even though it mainly consisted of junk type food. However... In the last 6-8 months I've put a stone and a half back on going back to my old habits so time to get back on track! Would be good to hear from those who posted here and/or anyone else follwoing this eating pattern or similar.
Thanks :)
Really? All of you people are very much ill informed. Did you know that it take the average person about 1 hour to burn 100 calories on a treadmill? that would mean doing 75 hours( 3 days) to do this by "walking to your car". this 2.4.6.8 diet is also referred to as the "slow suicide diet" in the medical field, I would know I'm a doctor. You can survive on this diet, however after three days of starving yourself, your body starts to burn lean tissue (heart muscle, lung tissue etc). My advice would be to... consume as much green vegetables as possible, they have the fewest calories but also are nutrient rich. Consume low fat milk and protein and choose carbohydrates wisely. But remember, this is also known as the "SUICIDE DIET". Sounds nice huh? I'd rather be fat than dead. :D
Also, there is NO reason any child under the age of 18 should be dieting unless it's a serious medical risk. Are you out of your mind? You are still growing! Your brain doesn't stop growing until you're 24! Quit worrying about what people think about you and go outside, you're wasting your life by trying to stave off your biological patterns!
Here, this works: Quit eating horrid food, lift heavy stuff, drink water. That's it, seriously. THAT is something you can do for the rest of your life (because you HAVE to if you want to keep weight off.) So don't diet- change yourself. And try not to kill yourself on the way there.
ALSO: GO TO YOUR ACTUAL DOCTOR, THE INTERNET IS NOT QUALIFIED TO GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE AT ALL.
The real facts are bad enough....no need to fall back on "this is your brain on drugs" scare tactics.
I've basically decided to comment on this article in response to what someone said awhile ago but i feel i have to reply to it. I am 18 years old and even i know better than to say something like this; "all I can say is that if you lost that much then you much be hugely overweight - because otherwise it is seriously unlikely. " To the person who said this, If you have an eating disorder then you should know how much of an impact weight loss/gain must have on you. Saying that was simply unnecessary. Its somewhat irrelevant why it worked on someone or if someone over-exaggerated on how much they lost, it makes no difference in your life i assure you.
Try thinking about the fact that if a person is on this website reading this and trying this diet, then there must be a reason...they must be insecure in their own body in someway...JUST LIKE YOU. So why would anyone want to call them overweight? When they are clearly already immensely insecure with their bodies. Let's not add to it people. This message board wasn't put here to put people down it was to help people understand what this diet was all about and how to use it properly.
This wasn't meant to come off as rude or disrespectful, just throwing it out there.
I'm sorry but you are most definitely NOT a doctor. That is probably the biggest lie I've ever heard right next to the myth of God. It is possible, and quite easy might I add, to burn 100 calories in 10 MINUTES. I did so very often when I was going to the gym. 100 calories in 10 minutes on the cross trainer at speed 8 and 100 calories every 10 minutes for running at speed 9 on the treadmill. And I'm 5'6 and weigh 51 kilos. And then, when I was going to the gym I weighed 54 kilos. So I wasn't burning so much because I was 'fat' either. You, sir, are the one that is ill informed.
I've done this diet before.
I started out 163lbs (5'7) and I lost 12 lbs on this diet. So no, you don't have to be morbidly obese to get extreme results; just overweight like me :). My friend who is just over 250 lbs also lost 15lbs on this diet so... I'm thinkin that's just the result of this diet.
It WILL make you feel like c**p if you don't know how to eat tho. There is an abundance of food that you can eat throughout the day without going over 200 cals... once you get to 800 you'll feel like youre in heaven lol
Lettuce
Cabbage
Watermelon
Oranges
Celery
Low calorie yogurt
Fat free jello
...There are loads more look em up.
But like everyone else has said, it's not an all the time thing. Once a month will do if you're like my lovely round friend I mentioned above and you wanna lose weight fast. I actually gained the weight back in like 3 weeks but that's because I made absolutely no effort to eat healthy... Like none at all... Like I celebrated the diets end with pizza and ice cream! I plan to do this diet again tho and I think if I eat reasonable meals I'll be able to keep the weight off like everyone else who has tried.
I suggest that you do not try this. You will lose the weight with this diet, BUT it is not a maintainable diet. You need to clean up your eating habits and exercise at least 50 min. a day. Try Blogilates on Youtube, she makes working out and eating clean fun! That way, you will lose the weight gradually, stay healthy, and keep the weight off for good. :) I hope this helped, xo
